he's excellent on a technical level, no doubt. name me 10 rappers from the last few years you know of that arent with YMCB though.
what im insulting is people on about him being the best that clearly don't seem to listen to hip-hop outside of him or dudes they knew from a decade prior or so. this year has actually been one of the best for hip-hop so far, but the same crowd you usually see saying hip hop is dead/its all lil wayne etc are echoing outdated stuff here, i gotta call on that when i see it.

Yoooo Lasers was BUUUNK. Food and Liquor was my shit. Then The Cool was my SHIT. My shit. Hands down. So disappointing when I heard Lasers. But yeah, Encore was so baaaad. ESPECIALLY after Eminem Show. Then Relapse was a meh after a ugh album and recovery was a eh after a meh album and hell the sequel was an okay after a eh album. As much as I want him to be of the same calibre as his first three albums, I can't see I happening. MAYBE with his next one. MAYBE. Doesn't mean I think he's shit GAF, don't get it twisted.
So what? Even if Em is like the 25th best, that still qualifies as "one of the best," considering there's thousands upon thousands of horrible MCs. Some of you guys need to stop reading "one of the best" as "THE BEST OF ALL TIME." If that was what people meant, then that's what they'd type down in their posts.
Hopsin is the only fresh rapper on the scene thats bringing some meaning back to this rap game. I don't know what hip hop your blasting.

i never got into J5 past an album, slept on Jeru and Deltron didnt really do it for me (but i know a lotta people who love him - i did enjoy Hieroglypics in the day though). People Under the Stairs is like one of those acts ive dug a track or two off of but havnet given a whole album a chance, which would you recommend?

Hospin is a youtube gimmick that works if you're somehow in the mood for a dime-store Tyler with less flow/charisma i guess, you'll have to excuse my shock as ive never really seen him taken seriously on this board.
that's the thing about gaf-hop: it raises your standards, and by that, kinda insulates you. then you wander back into OT where Em is the G.O.A.T. and hospin is a respectable artist.

By flow I mean that they have some kind of melody to their rap; not that they're sing-rapping but that there's a certain rhythm and melody to it. Half of what you posted didn't have that, it was just dudes talking in rhyme over a beat. Cigarette Boats was more like cough-suryp rap to me than weed rap; it was basically comatose. Maybe that's because I need high tempo in any music I listen to, but I had to turn off CB specifically after like 30 seconds because my skin started to crawl. Killer Mike was the best of what you posted (aside from Nas, obviously) and even he had some trouble flowing nicely. Did a quick YouTube check on Domo Genesis and that was, again, just a dude talking over a beat. I just don't hear any musical talent in it.
I don't get your hate-on for Hopsin. Saying Tyler has more flow is like you're trolling me, man. That dude has absolutely zero flow, it's like it's going into minus.

Em is cool on a Tenacious D, Weird Al Yankovich level. He's not a real musician though. Just a project by Interscope to capitalize on the Jerry Springer phenomena of the time. His stuff got a lot worse when he started taking himself seriously. Now, don't get me wrong, I really like some Tenacious D, Eminem and Weird Al, but it's just joke music. There for a gag. The guy ruined his mother's life, daughter's life and the mother of his daughter's life. He's a scumbag as far as being a human being in concerned. Infinite was a decent attempt at real music, even if it was mostly an Illmatic/90s east coast knock off album. Jimmy Iovine just saw the opportunity to throw some peroxide in his hair and dust off Dr. Dre (who was coming off the clusterfuck of an album the first Aftermath CD was) to try and fool some people into thinking he was a serious MC.

I like the structure, how he begins and ends the chorus with a crescendo that doesn't build up to anything and how the chorus is unexpectedly low-key in comparison to the crescendo and the verses.
His verse on that song really ruins the tone of the track IMO. Notice how there's even goofy little beeps and bloops during the Em verse that aren't there in the 50 verse. 50 even threw a subliminal at Em on that track "I'm down to sell records but not my soul". Same with Renegade and any other track he's featured on. Real hip hop artists just know an Eminem feature will net them at least an extra million sales from other kids who hate their mothers. No one in the rap game really respects him on a real level. They'll all give him props in public because they might want a feature one day to get some extra sales. Behind closed doors though, dude is a joke in the eyes of all the artists he's featured with. You think 50 Cent and Jay-Z really dig some Eminem? Really? These cats were selling drugs in some of the worst neighborhoods in NYC. Eminem was snorting Mini-Thins and mopping fast food joints before he got famous.
All the plastic surgery is really bad too. His nose is gonna be on Micheal Jackson levels in another 5 years. The hair plugs are embarrassing. Dig up pics from 1999 when Interscope's super ghost producing team was making Dr. Dre 2001. Dude had some solid crow's feet and a good receding hair line going. Fast forward to now and he's looks 19.
