Eminem is the greatest of all time on a technical basis, that's not a subjective thing.
IrishNinja i have seen the wu tang clan 3 times, and kid cudi is my overall favourite artist right now. Really digging some of nas's new stuff to.
Its a pretty low blow insulting my music tastes because i really dig eminems relapse album. I feel like i'm high school again.
Yeah I have nothing wrong with rappers expirementing.. Granted they don't pull a Snoop Lion or Kid Cudi WZRD on me. Lmao. Thats doing the most. But hey, they can do what they want. But when rappers try something new and it ends up backfiring, I hope to god they take their L like a man rather than being like "oh shit, the fans and critics are right and I have no idea what type of music I wanna make." Deep down Em likes Relapse I bet. As bad as that sounds. Lol. if there was one album he should of been ashamed of its Encore.
Never understood the Eminem haters. Slim Shady LP, Marshal Mathers LP, and the Eminem Show were great albums. Great albums.
No matter how shit his recent stuff is he will always be the guy who made those albums. And because of that he can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.
One of the best MC's ever. Period.
That's really strange. I think WZRD is shit. And doesn't hold a candle to Man on the Moon. But obviously that's opinion.
Eminem is the greatest of all time on a technical basis, that's not a subjective thing.
Yeah, me neither, Kent, me neither...I had no idea GAF has such bad taste regarding music..
see, i fucked with encore a bit, but it wasnt the eminem show by any stretch.
and yeah, surprised neither of us said Lupe's lasers yet
So what? Even if Em is like the 25th best, that still qualifies as "one of the best," considering there's thousands upon thousands of horrible MCs. Some of you guys need to stop reading "one of the best" as "THE BEST OF ALL TIME." If that was what people meant, then that's what they'd type down in their posts.here we go, you lost it right here (no pun, haha). bring that to gaf-hop, there's literally a baker's dozen artists that will rightfully get ranked above him. chances are you may not be familiar with all of them, but that just means there's jewels waiting to be discovered, rather than ending your opinion on a genre literally just over a decade ago at this point.
Yeah, me neither, Kent, me neither...

The Roots, Jurassic 5, People Under the Stairs, Cypress Hill, Jeru the Damaja, Del the Funky Homosapien, Nas, bit of Kanye, all kinds really.Hopsin is the only fresh rapper on the scene thats bringing some meaning back to this rap game. I don't know what hip hop your blasting.
ahahaha @ the 2 posts following my last
let's try a little experiment.

5 albums from just the last few months, which have you heard? I could easily post 10-20 from the last year that shit on the last decade of em's life, if you wanna hear quality hip-hop and, again, update your 2002 opinions.

Yoooo Lasers was BUUUNK. Food and Liquor was my shit. Then The Cool was my SHIT. My shit. Hands down. So disappointing when I heard Lasers. But yeah, Encore was so baaaad. ESPECIALLY after Eminem Show. Then Relapse was a meh after a ugh album and recovery was a eh after a meh album and hell the sequel was an okay after a eh album. As much as I want him to be of the same calibre as his first three albums, I can't see I happening. MAYBE with his next one. MAYBE. Doesn't mean I think he's shit GAF, don't get it twisted.
Hopsin is the only fresh rapper on the scene thats bringing some meaning back to this rap game. I don't know what hip hop your blasting.
Domo, Nas and Alchemists.
Nas has to be on everyone lists. He's just gotta. But Section 80 and Sir Luscious Left Foot have had more plays on my iPhone tbh. All dope tho.
The Roots, Jurassic 5, People Under the Stairs, Cypress Hill, Jeru the Damaja, Del the Funky Homosapien, Nas, bit of Kanye, all kinds really.
What? You just asked what hip hop I like, you never said they had to be obscure. What's your deal today dude? Your awful spiky. And anyway, you only bolded half of them, what a sheep I am eh?Like everyone else then ?
Anyway Hopsins new album is going to fill my eminem void for sure, i love the swag of nas's new album.
The Roots, Jurassic 5, People Under the Stairs, Cypress Hill, Jeru the Damaja, Del the Funky Homosapien, Nas, bit of Kanye, all kinds really.
Disappointed no ones mentioned Kendrick. I really am the minority here huh? Huh?!
You know, I wouldn't usually say this, but for someone to say, "GAF has awful taste" and then to big up Wiley. The guy is a hack. That Rolex song was a joke, and that new one about dancing and having a party? Are you fucking kidding me?
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones Kent!
What? You just asked what hip hop I like, you never said they had to be obscure. What's your deal today dude? Your awful spiky. And anyway, you only bolded half of them, what a sheep I am eh?
No, it's a relative term. It just means "one of the best," with no definition of how many others are included and that's all. You adding meaning to it is on you, not the person you're talking to.one of the best is saying top 5/10, "BEST OF ALL TIME" (G.O.A.T.) is an opinion being regurgitated as fact on here man. people have typed both, go read the thread.
Hey Kent, taste is so subjective. As I said, I'd never usually pick someone up on that shit, but when you call GAF out, then big up some sell out pop BS like Wiley, it's hard to hold your tongue! But we cool geez.
Irish, check out their self titled album. They aren't the best rappers in the world, but the music is awesome!
chuggo > hopsin

Also, you have got to be trolling when you post that Cigarette Boats garbage but respond with a puking gif when Hopsin is mentioned. I mean, honestly, there is absolutely zero flow on some of that shit you posted. I don't agree that Hopsin is the Messiah like so many others say and taste is subjective, but damn... There was zero skill in some of your stuff. Killer Mike had some potential, though.
I never said there weren't. Skepta too? Oh Lord, out tastes are world's apart I feel, Skepta is a cheesy sell out hack too. It's just poppy dance music with awful rapping on top. Him and Wiley only seem to write one or two verses a track, and just repeat them. They can't even be shitty sellouts right!Wiley was underground for so long, Its about time he started getting some chart toppers.
He's nothing on sketpa though, Skepta is a fucking beast.
At the end of the day no matter what music we like it all triggers the same feel good shit in our brain.
What are you talking about, dude? Who cares about The Source or some shit? I'm talking about english and the phrase itself.it's really not; top 5/10 etc or G.O.A.T. has pretty much been the default shit since before the source lost its relevancy, this isnt some metric i made up outta nowhere dude. when you say "one of the best" you're saying if you had to rank them, you'd put 10 MC's over him? cmon.
By flow I mean that they have some kind of melody to their rap; not that they're sing-rapping but that there's a certain rhythm and melody to it. Half of what you posted didn't have that, it was just dudes talking in rhyme over a beat. Cigarette Boats was more like cough-suryp rap to me than weed rap; it was basically comatose. Maybe that's because I need high tempo in any music I listen to, but I had to turn off CB specifically after like 30 seconds because my skin started to crawl. Killer Mike was the best of what you posted (aside from Nas, obviously) and even he had some trouble flowing nicely. Did a quick YouTube check on Domo Genesis and that was, again, just a dude talking over a beat. I just don't hear any musical talent in it.zero flow on what exactly though? you're only calling out Cigarette Boats, and i get it if weed-rap isn't your thing, but they're fantastic albums otherwise.
Hospin is a youtube gimmick that works if you're somehow in the mood for a dime-store Tyler with less flow/charisma i guess, you'll have to excuse my shock as ive never really seen him taken seriously on this board.
I never said there weren't. I said Eminem was "one of the greatest", not "the greatest" MC of all time.
You seem a little too itchy to jump on people praising Eminem, man. Just chill.
What are you talking about, dude? Who cares about The Source or some shit? I'm talking about english and the phrase itself.

I don't get your hate-on for Hopsin. Saying Tyler has more flow is like you're trolling me, man. That dude has absolutely zero flow, it's like it's going into minus.
Em is cool on a Tenacious D, Weird Al Yankovich level. He's not a real musician though. Just a project by Interscope to capitalize on the Jerry Springer phenomena of the time. His stuff got a lot worse when he started taking himself seriously. Now, don't get me wrong, I really like some Tenacious D, Eminem and Weird Al, but it's just joke music. There for a gag. The guy ruined his mother's life, daughter's life and the mother of his daughter's life. He's a scumbag as far as being a human being in concerned. Infinite was a decent attempt at real music, even if it was mostly an Illmatic/90s east coast knock off album. Jimmy Iovine just saw the opportunity to throw some peroxide in his hair and dust off Dr. Dre (who was coming off the clusterfuck of an album the first Aftermath CD was) to try and fool some people into thinking he was a serious MC.
Dude is a flake. Some of his music is genuinely funny. It's just beyond horrible when he's doing anything other than stuff like Azz Like That or Purple Pills. Who can take this guy seriously? He put his own family on blast, naming names and all, just to make some money. It takes a real dirt bag to throw their own mother under the bus. "aw, my mommy had to take anti depressants and nerve pills because I was such a fuck wad. she's a bitch. cry for me America" then "oh what? I'm famous now? Well fuck that, I don't want to be famous".
At least Tenacious D does their schtick with some real class and skill. New age Dr. Dre isn't any better. Look at the production credits. Mike Elizondo is the guy doing the actual work on songs """Producedby Eminem""" or """Produced
by Dr. Dre""" Before Mike it was Scott Storch. It's all in the linear notes. Basically Milli Vanilli.
I said that to be fair, I don't think it excludes me from being able to discern skill. And you could be fair too and tell me what definition of flow you do subscribe to.there it is - you have a sound you like and don't deviate, hence why you make calls on an entire album 30 seconds in. okay, like what you like, but i'm not subscribing to your definition of flow, thankfully.
To each their own, but I just see a fake trying to be a weirdo when I see Tyler. Hopsin fails in that respect too, with those lame contacts, but at least he doesn't build his entire image around it.his charisma is like +1000, and yeah, i dig his flow way better too. even his less mature content is at least interesting sometimes, i can say exactly none of that about Hospin. seriously, all ive seen is weird youtube hype, if you got what you consider a standout track from dude, feel free to post it.
like dis if you cry evertim

As for tracks, I like this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmyXOQgP9qI
I like the structure, how he begins and ends the chorus with a crescendo that doesn't build up to anything and how the chorus is unexpectedly low-key in comparison to the crescendo and the verses.
Hard to believe he beat out Gaga and Biever.
