Gotta have SF4 spaghetti muscles and buff dudes or else it's a girls game.
Jeez, how does a game inspired by American cartoons get accused of being Anime? Daaang.
It's more like if it's not a capcom game, I'm not playing. If a pro player actually stopped being a pussy and actually took one of these games seriously, they would show why some of these games are awesome.
Did I just step into a system wars thread: the fighting game edition?

Same thing with Mortal Kombat. All those Capcom guys bailed out once they started getting blown up in pools.
If they were serious about money some of them would have gotten back into MK when it was announced as an MLG game. The weird one with this is Chris G, who is still pretty good at MK but doesn't enter the MLGs.
You joke, but the only character that remotely interested me was Parasoul (or whatever her name is). The rest of the characters didn't interest me so I had no interest in the game.

Ya, but you better believe people will play a really shitty game when there's a car for the prize.![]()
I ONLY PLAY THE GAMES THAT MIKE 'MIKEROSS' ROSS PLAYS.
I wonder if there are people who really think this. It just seems so strange of a concept to me that I can't imagine it being true.

I would bet there are at least a few people out there who only play what the "top players" play.
Level Up is creating a competitive gaming team. Potatohead will be in charge of it.

its a competitive multiplayer game. you go where the competition is at, which likely means wherever the top players go.Yup, there are sheep everywhere and they need to be lead.
Potatohead in charge of a LOL team
I think its because Chris G loves the capcom community more. We can all tell he isn't really a part of the TYM community at all. (and hi 16-bit =P)
Word of mouth, and conformity to social norms is a reality.
In my personal experience, a lot of players I know didn't really give MK9 a shot. It's never just one reason. Look at the community that the FGC is really made up of. It's amazingly racially and culturally diverse, which is great, but also if you look at it...except for dudes like Floe and Marn, they're NOT the stereotypical video gamers.
They're going to have some cross over with the anime (show, not necessarily fighter) crowd, but it's not enormous. And anime isn't exactly the most accepted of all cartoon styles.
So the resistance to it is completely normal whereas everyone gave MK9 a shot.
Shout outs to far too many in the FGC being so close-minded that they have no desire to try out games in the genre they supposedly love.
Shirts with Valentine on them. Better be a sexy pose too.Skullgirls should sponsor each tourny with offical t-shirts.
Hi. Nice avatar. When I found out there was a chick that uses a fan as a weapon I actually wanted to try out P4.
international competition seems like its as big as its ever been and only seems to be growing. online because of better netcode, offline because of sponsorships and overall just increased motivation to travel.Beyond that, though, I can't really imagine people picking it up because some guy across the country is going to play it too.
Is that that Lando guy?
Time is a limited resource. People will invest it where it has the most payoff for them. Margins matter.
good decision. Zone all day every day. I wished more MK heads tried out other games and vice versa. Too many cliques.
O yeah fanatiq revealed that he is going hard on injustice just for the money. He think it looks god awful but he thinks he can destroy the competition and get in that MLG money.
Word of mouth, and conformity to social norms is a reality. There are people who don't buy games because of their metacritic score. They can't think for themselves, and must play the only the latest and greatest. It applies to so many things in society. All fads stem from what your friends are doing, and if you are doing something else, you feel like a loser.

Love has nothing to do with it. Obligatory link to Mark Cuban's thoughts on the subject.MK players are fanatical and won't lose to someone without the love of the game.
Capcom guys did well in the first 2 months of MK9 because most pure MK players were new to tournament play.
That's me. I feel like a minority even within FGC-GAF. I only have time for one fighter, even though I know plenty others are probably good games.I think it's related kinda to how crowded the FPS console genre is (obviously the scales are different).
My brother plays nothing but COD, and some Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 on the side.
He knows BF3 is good, he played the demo, but he doesn't have enough time for it (job, family). We all only have so much time to dedicate. Not to mention, he doesn't even have time for all the the smaller FPS that come out.
I think alot of people fall in this boat. They don't have all the time. The casuals just have a couple hours at night after work? Like fighting games? Already know and like Sf4 or marvel? I guess I will play that.
Just the way it is I think.
I play competitive M:TG, which has events nationwide on a weekly basis. I don't invest time in the WoW TCG for exactly this reason- I don't have the time/resources to play a second game with less resources.
I really need to write a big thing up on how the FGC should be looking to partner with the TCG-based stores. They can really help each other, and the TCG market actually brings a good income stream to the table. (Xanadu hosts both games, as does Next Level.)
Maybe just maybe Capcom players play capcom games because they like them?
Just maybe?
