Shout outs to far too many in the FGC being so close-minded that they have no desire to try out games in the genre they supposedly love.
I guess it's easier being a stream monster than figuring out if you like or dislike a game through actually playing it.
Or maybe I'm just too accepting.
I mean, what kind of lunatic plays Marvel 3, is hyped for P4A, is still waiting for ports of the Killer Instinct games, and is still annoyed that Square didn't localize Tobal 2?
Everyone in the FGC is supposed to be playing no less than six under-supported games right now:
- VF5: FS
- Skullgirls
- Persona 4
- KOF XIII
- Super Turbo
- Third Strike
This is in addition to staying sharp in AE and UMvC3 for tournaments.
Also, MK9 if you want that eSports money.
If you care about the scene, you must stay fluent in a few classics:
- Vampire Savior
- CvS2
- Alpha 2
- MvC2
- KoF 2002
- KoF '98
And, really, you should keep playing the following because it might be good if you spend enough time with it or new tech is discovered or the next patch magically fixes a whole bunch of problems:
- SFxT
Most important is to be ready to fully support the new games:
- Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus R
- Tekken Tag Tournament 2
By playing previous iterations:
- Tekken Tag Tournament
- Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus
- Tekken 6
But the true heroes of fighting games are also playing niche anime games:
- Melty Blood: Actress Again: Current Code
- Aquapazza
- Arcana Heart 3
So, yeah, if you aren't actively playing 20+ games, logging on to GGPO a few times a week, participating in weeklies, posting videos on YouTube of new tech you've discovered, arguing about tier lists on SRK, and traveling around the country to enter tournaments, you're a total scumbag.
