Fighting Games Weekly | August 6-12

Someone in SRK claims that FC is planning on stopping their sponsorship of players, which would make Chris G a potentially priceless pickup for any sponsor.

The EMP video that was uploaded said Jago's contract was up. We'll see on LI Joe's show tonight though.

Damn I fudged the signup on the bracket, and the link they gave me to delete it won't work

@FSLink could you remove my entry so I can re-do it correctly? I will repay you in Trident Layers.

Would be a great pick up for Complexity

Imagine, FChamp ChrisG and Combo all in one team. They will have a monopoly over all marvel tournaments.

brings a smile

also incoming migration from SRK to here:

I myself have a 05er account so that make me 7 years before Gaf.

col. Chris G would sound kind of cool. Either way you think if that does happen either coL. or EG pick up Chris G he might move out west?

That wouldn't be crazy right?

Oh gawd Gangnam Style!

That video proves that smash brothers is a fighting game! :lol no but seriously imagine if sf went the path with platforms and stuff like that o.o/

I doubt there will be a major migration from srk to here. Let alone half the posters there wouldn't last a month here due to rules they would have to follow.

Shout outs to far too many in the FGC being so close-minded that they have no desire to try out games in the genre they supposedly love.

I guess it's easier being a stream monster than figuring out if you like or dislike a game through actually playing it.

Or maybe I'm just too accepting.
I mean, what kind of lunatic plays Marvel 3, is hyped for P4A, is still waiting for ports of the Killer Instinct games, and is still annoyed that Square didn't localize Tobal 2?

Everyone in the FGC is supposed to be playing no less than six under-supported games right now:

- VF5: FS
- Skullgirls
- Persona 4
- KOF XIII
- Super Turbo
- Third Strike

This is in addition to staying sharp in AE and UMvC3 for tournaments.

Also, MK9 if you want that eSports money.

If you care about the scene, you must stay fluent in a few classics:

- Vampire Savior
- CvS2
- Alpha 2
- MvC2
- KoF 2002
- KoF '98

And, really, you should keep playing the following because it might be good if you spend enough time with it or new tech is discovered or the next patch magically fixes a whole bunch of problems:

- SFxT

Most important is to be ready to fully support the new games:

- Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus R
- Tekken Tag Tournament 2

By playing previous iterations:

- Tekken Tag Tournament
- Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus
- Tekken 6

But the true heroes of fighting games are also playing niche anime games:

- Melty Blood: Actress Again: Current Code
- Aquapazza
- Arcana Heart 3

So, yeah, if you aren't actively playing 20+ games, logging on to GGPO a few times a week, participating in weeklies, posting videos on YouTube of new tech you've discovered, arguing about tier lists on SRK, and traveling around the country to enter tournaments, you're a total scumbag.

oh shit marlinpie keeping it real on 8wayrun! he's popping off!

.. you make me tune in and he's all chill as fuck. I don't enjoy getting trolled. =(

Also Chris G's Dorm looking like Masta CJ's Dorm. Where the spells at?

It was meant as a joke. (But everybody of EG is pretty much Justin and Friends)

They literally are though so it's not a joke =(. Momochi, and Choco to a certain extent were friends with Justin pre EG as well.

now that the dust has finally settled and SBO weekend is over i would like to get down the bottom of what exactly happened with our Soul Calibur 5 qualifier event. most people know that im a street fighter/capcom guy and not involved much with the 3d community so i reached out to my friends to handle the matter of advertising and posting about the "ONLY" usa sbo in america. kind of an important matter to that community i would assume......

i asked aris to post this and he handed it off to bibulus. to my knowledge we had a front page post on 8wayrun so that the community could be informed of this event. heres where the mess starts. supposedly the post was "not professional" enough or wasnt "formatted" properly and looked like, and i quote "I dont think its too much to ask for people not to ugly the fuck out of the 8wayrun front page" - jaxel

i understand its probably in my best interests to do everything myself if i want it done right but to have an announcement of considerable importance to that specific community removed due the fact it looked bad? well, thats way beyond me. this whole matter of things not being done up to the standards of 8wayrun seems really snobby and i want a legit explanation. not going to reiterate the fact that i have spent a lot of time and money to try to keep this game alive. i have even scarred relationships in the community because i have made requests to get sponsorship and prizes to help make our SC5 tourneys more attractive. and to have what should be the biggest SC5 event in the USA messed with by the only forum you guys have? preposterous.....

i have gone about all this as respectfully as possible and now i want a professional reply. being as you are the owner of THE ONLY sc5 forum you should realize you have a responsibility to keep with the community you are a part of. i also saw your posts of the TO(me) not doing my part, but hell, you couldve easily edited a post and made things right instead of playing kim jong il and just deleting it. good move bro.

he got distracted by the fight going on and the organizer told him to tone it down :C i guess im turning in to lijoe/triforce for possible pop-off/DU-RA-MA entertainment.

If you spend your time arguing on SRK about tier lists, you're a total scumbag in my book no matter how many games you play. :3

Anyone that can do all of that competently should be the king of the FGC. Just give him Kingofsarus' mexican hat and a horsehead while we are at it.

oh shit lijoe's show! Oh god, the unnecesary durama! I love it! LIJoe sniping chris_g's personality, Triforce airing out all that dirty laundry! i love it!
