Your plan makes sense then. I would imagine that would be more than plenty enough money to get what you are wanting. Guess it all depends on greediness of players selling minipets and hero armors.

didn't really get to play as Ranger or Mesmer during the BWE though. Something they all have in common is ... these are all condition damage builds. I think I have a problem.

Agreed. The in-game map is particularly awesome. Zooming and scrolling around is so smooth!
I have a problem with wanting to use dots as well.
with many/most professions, condition damage builds were also vastly more effective than power/crit builds in the last BWE

I have this as well. Loved taking part in keep defense in DAoC with a Cabalist, just to AoE disease and AoE DoT the hell out of people. Global death spam would continually tick my name. Was hilarious.
The benefit of conditions is that they are able to inflict damage even during damage immunity skills, like Endure Pain and some of the invulnerabilities the NPCs at WvW objectives pop on occasion.
The absolute best part of the login:
Seriously, why don't other MMO's do this? If most passwords are stolen from keyloggers, add the checkbox to remember password and you'll not have this problem.

So just blindly pre-purchased this and purchased the original.
However I just realised I purchased only Guild wars and not the trilogy by accident.
Hopefully I can get in touch with CS to cancel it and repurchase the trilogy.
I just saw platinum edition and figured it included everything.
Steam sold the Trilogy for dirt cheap during sales. I mean in the order of 5$ for the entire Trilogy, I think. But indeed, it doesn't include Eye of the North.
It's really great how they conveyed the feeling of weight with those animations. The slight imbalance after falling from a jump, the inertia of the swings, and even how he carries it on his shoulder... so full of personality and feeling!
But GW2's interface is minimalism itself as far as MMO are concerned... which indeed is why I love it so much too.
This is why I haven't bothered with the HoM rewards, spending $20 seems like a bit of a waste at this point. And I really didn't like the way Guild Wars 1 plays.

Although I find it weird you don't have GWAMM yet with a max HoM.
I had it like 5 points before 50/50.
I need 3 more titles that will either take forever (Luxon/Kurz) or tons of money (Sweets/Booze/Party). I'm dirt poor because once I had about 45/50 I used up all my money (including salvaging my Obsidian armor), for stuff to top off HoM.

If I buy an EU version of the game will I still be able to play on the US servers or this there a lockout?

You can play on US servers.
I don't like it actually. It's all fine and dandy, then a year later you have to reinstall your game for whatever reason and you forget your credentials cause you never entered them on a regular basis.
A quick password reset will fix that problem.
I personally use password managers though. It's optional as well.kyo_daikun

I didn't get to try the betas either
Trying to make an informed decision now as myself and the GF will be playing 3 days early and she's 100% an Elementalist. Wouldn't want to get to level 5-10 and then I decide I've made a bad decision
Although GW2's levelling system is genius, in that it lowers your level in lower level zones if playing with someone else.
They've stated the beta client will be the same client.

The Luxon/Kurz title track only requires rank 4, if that's what you mean.

If you want to avoid the rush. Just open the client within the next few weeks and see if it gets patched.

Difference is that free games only make money off microtransactions, they no longer are selling the game and have to make money somehow. GW2 is being sold as a boxed title and is not solely dependant on microtransactions and will always be sold in some form just like original GW was.
Well yeah, its understandable that Free to play games are structured the way they are, because they need to in order to make money. But it still cheapens the overall experience.
That's why I prefer the "buy to play" model in most cases, because it doesn't force the developer to nickle and dime you in order to stay profitable. I think free to play still works for some genres (like DOTA clones), but for an MMO I much prefer a one time fee giving me permanent access to the game, and not feeling like I constantly need to shell out cash to keep up.
