For those that couldn't watch, transcript of the new episode 5 scene shown during Conan:

Skyler: I'm not your wife, I'm your hostage. But since you insist on keeping me imprisoned, I'll make you a deal. I will launder your money, I'll keep your secrets. But the kids will stay at Hank and Marie's to have a chance at being safe.

Walt: I think you've seen too many movies. Our children are not in danger.

Skyler: Just a couple of days ago you told me that a man held a gun to your head; you said it like it was a point of pride. There's nothing you can say that will convince me there won't come a day when somebody will knock on that door looking to harm you, or me, or all of us. And when that day comes, the children can not be here. You agree to that and I will be whatever kind of partner you want me to be.

Every time you reply to Puddles in this thread, a girl chokes on her own vomit.

As a human being, Walt was so frightened by the prospect of Jane dying that he was frozen in time, unable to help her. He has never forgiven himself for being unable to help her.

Walt is now Skyler's jailer. You're insane if you think she's the villain.
If Walt's the jailer, doesn't that make her the inmate? That would imply that she broke the law, and is therefore a criminal/villain. So of course she's a villain.

Just finished watching this last episode. Automatically the worst of the series due to the profane use of dubstep. Disgusting.

*deletes Season Pass from DVR*

Is this serious? Can someone explain why they hated that scene so much?

Wasn't the point of that scene to be ridiculous? This wasn't a case of a TV show trying to be 'hip'. The characters in the show were driving beastly cars, thinking they were hot shit. What kind of music do you think they'd be playing at a time like that? I thought that scene did a good job of portraying Walt's ego, in a nice lighthearted way.

It should have been Back in Black! grumble grumble

Nice to see
Skylar actually being constructive for the first time this season

Hahaha, I knew it skyler.
Taking the high road by saying she doesn't want the kids harmed but she is still gonna enable his illegal behaviour.
I approve though.

Of course I wasn't serious. I just hate dubstep.

Junior seems like he'd be into it, though, so I vote he gets the ricin. Holly will carry on the meth empire instead.

I figured the part about deleting your season pass was just an exaggeration, but with all the hate I've seen against that scene I wasn't sure. Then again, the dupstep hate pales in comparison to the abundance of Skyler hate in this thread.

Maybe someone out there can do a SkySky highlight reel set to wubwub dubstep and kill two birds with one stone. Think of all the views from fans and haters alike!!

I'm pretty sure the point of the scene was to advertise for Chrysler, just like the last time they bought a new car. That is backed by the fact that it was followed immediately by a commercial for Chrysler SRT. I wouldn't read into the scene any more than that

I don't really mind product placement, but I found that scene to be annoying since its a rehash of the previous Chrysler ad.

still think the number of people pissed off at the use of dubstep is hilarious. do we need to get into how plenty of dubstep is good (james blake, magnetic man, sorta burial, some rusko, katy b, etc.) and most people who immediately call it shit have not listened to much at all and are applying the properties of the subgenre of "brostep" to the entire genre due to their lack of knowledge? hell, even some "brostep" is good in the right context. When that context is showing how obnoxious and amped up two supercharged muscle cars are, I think it works goddamn well. that scene wasn't supposed to have you enjoying the music, it was supposed to have you understanding how testosterone-fueled and shallow the purchase of the cars was

:lol

But seriously, I get your point but I didn't care for it either.

The dub step thing, the hat, the cars, watching scarface, it's all Walt going off the deep-end. It's Walt becoming this loose, wild, reckless kingpin.

Skylar represents the normal person, unable to deal with the violence, murder, fraud, and pressure of the situation.

In fact. The pressure is getting to both of them and they're both flying out of orbit in opposite directions.

So this ep takes place a year after the beginning of the series, and the season premiere is a year in the future. I wonder how they're planning to handle time.

Walt is now Skyler's jailer. You're insane if you think she's the villain.

Skyler just openly wished death on her husband. Meanwhile, Walt was busy this episode making amends with Brock.

Skyler's transformation into the show's main villain over these past few episodes has been brilliant, and I really have to give Anna Gunn credit.

Puddles, I know you're a good guy from RealGAF and everything, but...

What. The fuck. Are you talking about?

Brock wasn't even in this episode!

Maybe you've dreamt about it, cause there's never been a "reconciliation" with Brock.

S05E03, right around the 19:01 minute mark.

Walt: Hi Brock, I'm Walt, I've heard a lot about you.
Brock: Hi.
Walt: I understand you were in the hospital. And Jesse told me that you were very brave.
Brock: ...
Walt: Man of few words!
Brock's Mom: He mostly just wants to play his game!

Quite a poignant scene, IMO.

@Puddles: Since you mentioned "Walt making amends" i assume you're using "reconciliation" in a more biblical sense.
Problem is, Walt is never shown making "amends" for his actions against the kid, not in that scene, not in any other prior.
Infact, is not even shown him being emotionally moved by what he put Brock through.

When did he made "amends"? Telling him "he was very brave?", lol c'mon.

Oh you! Tehee!

I agree that was quite a sweet scene. Nope, no creepy undercurrent at all.

I approve though.

That's just the natural end result of the events of this past episode. She knows
she is on some level guilty as an enabler and has admitted as much, but her only consideration at this point is her kids. She wants to get that self-absorbed maniac Walt to realize that her kids can't be around them, so she's going to drastic measures and then giving him ultimatums.

The only thing likely to
even remotely register with Walt at this point is something that threatens his drug enterprise, so Skyler saying she'll stop laundering his money unless the kids go away is likely to be very effective.

She openly wished death on Walt after he made it clear that Skyler and her kids are trapped in this house and there is nothing she can do about it short of moving to prison.

Only a fucking psycho would force himself night after night into the bed of a woman who not only has no love for him, but is frightened of him.

Puddles, you've got some serious issues with your moral compass.

Have we seen any rape? All we've seen is Walt being a comforting and endearing husband after he just saved his entire family's ass by taking down Kingpin Numero Uno, and Skyler treating him like he launched a SCUD missile at the Beatles' tour bus in 1967.

Not to mention that this is, what, a month after he moved back in and they made passionate love and seemed very close to reconciling?

Now she wishes death on him? Death on the father of her children? A man she spent 20+ years with? Who just had birthday bacon that very morning?

That was far beyond anything Walt has done, inconveniencing Brock with that hospital trip notwithstanding.

I understand why they're doing it; Gilligan needs to wrap this show up in a season, so he's giving Skyler incredibly unrealistic and outright despicable reactions, but it still feels cheap. I'll watch this show as long as Walt, Jesse and Mike get into their hijinks though.

If Gilligan were just a little less of a hack at writing female characters, this show could seriously challenge The Wire, The Shield, and Six Feet Under.

"inconveniencing Brock"

Wtf

Had no idea Gilligan was on Conan last night. They said the date on the podcast but I must have completely glossed over the fact that it was 8/7.
