Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

How was logging in and server stability for the beta? I hope to god we do not have another Diablo 3 launch, especially considering the "3 day headstart".

BWE 2 & 3 were rock solid from what I experienced as well as the experiences of all of my friends. The Stress Test had some login issues, but they said there would be issues since they were actively working on the game as we were playing and the build wasn't locked down. Latency has been fantastic since BWE2. People were capable of playing on NA servers from EU with no noticeable latency issues.

If anyone has any undedicated minis they don't need and don't want to sell I'll happily take them for my empty HoM...IGN: Shae Valentine.

I had no problems at all whatsoever, none on the BWE's and none on the stress tests (except the announced short downs for updates of course)

Guild wars was never known for there down time.. I think guild wars 1 has been "Down" no more then 30 hours since launch.

Guys I've been away since first BWE more or less and tried last BWE just for like 10 minutes at the most.

What I wonder is how GPU dependant is the game? I have a pretty 3570 @ 4.5 paired with a 560ti

Now if game is GPU dependant I would shell out for a 660ti or even 670 but if it isn't I would rather wait for next gen of GPUs

And I have a shit load of questions regarding builds (all those questions at char creation) and such but will take them after I get back from vacation :)

Question for anyone that leveled up quite a bit in the betas. When the Norn were first revealed on the blog, they showed a picture of a female Norn wielding a rifle, shown below.
Interior_Rifle2.jpg

My interest is the outfit she is wearing. Looking at that dungeon set preview, it's not shown there. So after looking around a bit, I found the outfit but not what I was expecting. I saw the outfit, in a different color, on the Elementalist, on the char creation screen. Does this set exist for classes that wear medium armor? Going by the wiki, Elementalists, can't wield rifles so I'm confused, and are light armor. Do they copy armor graphics between the types? I'm gonna be disappointed if medium armor wearers can't wear it.

Anet are currently making huge strides in engine optmization. My framerate has undergone a significant boost in the last patch.

On the SPVP front it's quite obvious this iteration has a completely different focus to the original guild wars. Where the first one actively promoted the competitive nature on the box and in its PR, GW2s focus is obviously on the PVE side of things. This is only logical considering the hardcore PVP scene turned out to be a tiny portion of the playerbase.

Well yeah the hardcore pvp crowd was never going to flock to a franchise without open world pvp.

That's strange. It looks like medium armor to me.

There are a plethora of different armor styles in the game. It could be Karma gear, crafted, etc. Not sure though, as I don't want to spoil myself on the armors.

A few pages ago, I posted this link with a ton of armor and weapons. Maybe it's in there?

Not shown in your link. Looking up the wiki. I found another color of the outfit below, male version. It's tagged cultural armor tier 2. The way the picture is set up, it seems like it's the light armor again. =(

The hardcare pvp crowd mostly cares about competitive play, which is not open world pvp. And the popular MMO's with pvp rarely have much open world pvp going on anymore either.

Ah, cultural armor makes sense for Norn, since your original photo is a Norn.

That looks kinda like the tier 2 light cultural armor for norns. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEssd4rWsLw&feature=player_embedded#t=416s), don't know why she's holding a rifle since no light armor classes can equip a rifle.

edit: nevermind, you already figured it out :P

Can anyone who has extensively played an ele during the BWEs comment on how enjoyable the class is? I've always played melee characters in past MMOs, looking to try something new for a change.

Can someone tell me what the quickest way to get 22 points is from my Hall of Monuments?

Any hero statue = MOX
Any pet statue = There is some workaround that you can log in a PvP character, get the wolf and submit it to the Menagerie, log in PvE char and take it out of Menagerie. Or, get the Black Moa which would also give you a point for Any Rare Pet Statue. If not those, it doesn't take entirely to long to level up a pet.
5 companion statues = Buy stolen sunspear armors, Cloth of the Brotherhoods

Gives you 4 (or 5) quick points.

I need to get another damn tapestry for the hall... or I guess briefly convert to secondary ranger with the character I'd been working on HoM stuff with and raise a pet...

If you have all the campaigns, get the Black Moa ranger pet, and dedicate MOX, and then grab a couple more stolen sunspear armors.

To get the black moa: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Beak_of_Darkness

For Stolen Sunspear run this challenge a few times: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Dajkah_Inlet

You can get to 25 pretty quick too, if you do the above + finish War in Kryta for an Oppressor's Weapon

I think you're looking at the screenshot wrong. The armors shown in the pic are light/medium/heavy. There's three tiers of cultural armor for each type, so the pic is showing the second level of each type.

This was just posted over at d2jsp

So this is another step ANet has taken to kill the black market, GG farmers. Although that doesn't make sense...why would the amount of money YOU make reflect how much someone can send you...I think he mixed up his words there. I think he's saying if player 1 makes 70 silver then player 1 can't send out more than that to any given player, maybe a percentage or something/

Actually, it doesn't make a lot of sense to limit sending money proportional to the amount of money you have earned; that would simply encourage farmers to farm more money.

I think it is exactly what it sounds like; your account can only BE SENT (receive) as much money as what you have earned yourself. This is a much more effective blow to gold trading, as it now you simply can't buy a ton of money from day one (well, in fact, you CAN... via the trading post, which is the point. :) ). I think it's awesome, personally.

Sure, that means when your co-worker gets to play the game, you can't pamper him with a ton of moolah for him to buy bags, materials for crafting, etc. I'm perfectly OK with that, actually; let people work for their own stuff. :D For me, it's more fun that way, even.

Mostly Arena pvp. They could've made the starter gear look better. It makes the presentation so crappy. :x

Actually, the problem is that the PvP gear starting colors are absolutely awful; the gear itself is quite nice-looking once you dye it. Not that it matters, as it's all going to be dyed red or blue once you start playing (which might be another problem, looks-wise, in itself, but gameplay > visuals :P).

I'm looking to get an idea of what the game and world are all about before GW2 so I don't particularly want to ride out a boring autopilot build. Can you suggest a more interesting build? Preferably something with a GW2 analogue so I can see how things evolved between games. Maybe an elementalist!

GW1's gameplay has virtually nothing in common with GW2 aside from the "choose abilities from a pool" thing. I personally can't get myself to play GW1 now; I'm sure it was an amazing game back then, but now it just feels too dated for me.

It would appear you can avoid a Warrior's Stomp through jumping or maybe even other ground based skills as well.

That seems awesome and horribly unbalanced at the same time. I'm leaning towards "he was already out of the area of effect" for now...

Remember you can dye all your armor as often as you like, with each piece having 1-3 individual color channels:

The very first BWE was pretty dicey for the first day and a half, but everything after that was pretty much fine for me.

lol I always wondered what a little asura would look like carrying a greatsword...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7vTFZHBnuY

It's really great how they conveyed the feeling of weight with those animations. The slight imbalance after falling from a jump, the inertia of the swings, and even how he carries it on his shoulder... so full of personality and feeling! :))

Late but I agree, this almost makes me want to change my main to Asura.

I don't think I've been this excited for the release of a game in a long time. This and 2nd SRW OG are the two biggest games for me this year.

I'm stupidly excited.

Well I certainly wasn't expecting to find a fellow SRW fan in this thread! Alpha series forever!

One of the people I turned from "I'm not interested in MMOs" to "preordered GW2" is a massive SRW fan as well, although since he doesn't have a PSP or PS3 he feels a bit left out lately. :/

I'm feeling a little left out right now because no one is taking preorders for 2nd SRW OG anymore. >:(

At least the cooling breeze of GW2 will heal such wounds.

I wonder if there will be a WvWvW ranking list of sorts. Also, I wonder if that would be a good thing or a bad thing.

Good, because it's just fun to know where you and your server are standing, if it's a long way to the top, or for the happiness to finally getting off of "last place".

Bad, because yeah, everyone and their mom will probably join the "winning" server anyway (and destroying the balance probably either to one or the other side).

For me personally, as a probably casual WvW player for teh funz, I'd really like some kind of table or ranking, but since I haven't heard anything about a thing like that, it probably won't be in anyway.

Cheers! Got M.O.X., now got to level my Imperial Phoenix from level 13 to level 20. Apparently death levelling is the way to go. Can I do that in the Menagerie?

If you already have another character with a lvl 20 pet, you can go to the menagerie and unlock it for your account. Then you go with your hom character and charm it at 20 from the get go.

If not, do you have a pvp character? Then just craft the equipment you need for free and death level, in the menagerie, for a lvl 20 pet. Its incredibly easy.
