Romney: It would help my campaign immensely if no one talked about my buisness record

Romney also said in the interview he would like a pledge (of sorts) with Obama that there be no “personal” attack ads. “[O]ur campaign would be-- helped immensely if we had an agreement between both campaigns that we were only going to talk about issues and that attacks based upon-- business or family or taxes or things of that nature.”(Question: Is Romney really saying that scrutinizing his business record -- which he has held up as one of his chief qualifications to be president -- is personal? But we digress...) He continued: “[W]e only talk about issues. And we can talk about the differences between our positions and our opponent's position.” Romney said of his own campaign: “[O]ur ads haven't gone after the president personally. … [W]e haven't dredged up the old stuff that people talked about last time around. We haven't gone after the personal things.” That doesn’t mean surrogates or Super PACs have, as was brought up to him. Bottom line, obviously, this negative stuff is getting to Romney or he wouldn’t have said this. Campaigns that are winning never complain about the tone of the campaign (although Obama certainly laments “crazy” things outside groups say – more on that below.). There will be more on this from Romney on MSNBC’s The Daily Rundown. Did he just offer the Obama campaign an official pledge? See for yourself.
Looks like the Bain and tax stuff is getting under his skin.

Here's a link to the video.

I think there are very few undecided voters and I can see a lot of people simply sitting out. Nearly everyone has their minds made up and it's irrelevant what the campaigns discuss or critique.

But people want to know about your past. They want to know who they are voting for, not the fake ass image you present when a camera is on.

Romney, you are such a god damn wuss. You have been deliberately and repeatedly taking Obama's quotes of context since this whole campaign began, and now that the poll shows you're sinking under counter-negative campaigning, you want him to play nice. FU.

Especially don't talk about the healthcare law he personally championed in Massachusetts. It's just too private and shouldn't be discussed.

Thinks mods influence posters politics. Promoted to QAnon Editor.
Can't run as a governor with Romneycare...

Can't run as a businessman with Bane, putting people out of jobs and hiding your millions...

Can't run on your LOL-worthy religion...

What is he running as, not-Obama?

Has there ever been a presidential candidate who has whined as much as Romney? First he wants an apology from Obama, now attacks on his business record are too personal? Get real.

The last one. He's running as a white guy who's not a pretend muslim socialist.

Romney used his private sector experience as one of the pillars of his campaign since 2007. Now he wants it off limits?

That Newsweek 'Wimp' cover was rather apt.

I don't understand who would be stupid enough to vote for this guy. Unless of course you are a part of the super rich.

Sadly I know quite a few people who are barely getting by and will cast their vote for this baboon. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Things about Romney we can't talk about:
-His taxes
-His work at Bain
-His healthcare plan
-His "to the left of Kennedy on gay rights" claim
-His religion

Uh . . . Yeah, those Salt Lake Olympics were great, I guess I better vote Mitt.

And then there's this:

All we have to do is replace Obama. ... We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don't need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. ... We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don't need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate.

The requirement for president?

Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared.

err but wasnt his entire platform at one point was the fact that he was a successful buisnessman and his experience would be put to good use at the whitehouse?

He probably doesn't want to talk about the hundreds of millions in federal money that helped with his Olympics either.

His experience as a businessman wouldn't help him at the White House, though, since his experience as a businessman entailed his ability to screw large numbers of people for the personal gain of the upper elite. Why would the general public want a guy like that to be President? Why? No wonder he doesn't want Obama to talk about it.

Linda McMahon's entire Senate campaign is that she was a part of WWE, a Connecticut powerhouse. She has literally done nothing else. But when reporters ask her about the problems in wrestling, they're being unfair.

Part of me wants to agree.

If Romney was forced to actually talk about an issue for once then I can at least find out where he stands instead of just assuming.

And even if he wants to talk about it, I believe the IOC has demanded that the Olympics not be used as political fodder. And since the IOC has a special powerful trademark deal, I think both sides are not allowed to use the Olympics in their political ads now.

It was a pro-Obama group's ad that got pulled:

Every night for the 30 minutes between the end of the olympics for the day and the news I see a commercial touting how Romney fixed the Olympics so he can fix the country. I see this at least twice in that 30 minute time.

Swing state btw. So is the IOC only concerned with them being used by Liberals?

He dosen't really have any stances of his own. A supremely empty vessel.

Where there is smoke there is fire. I think he's got all sorts of skeletons in his closet.
Maybe not anything overtly illegal, but I'd bet anything he had tax shelters and possibly profited off the sub-prime mortgage scandal. Not anything he could go to jail for, but things that would look really bad in the eyes of most voters. I can't believe he's trying to call some kind of truce with Obama. I wonder if Romney is really doubting his chances and just doesn't want to lose and look like a complete asshole and phony.

I saw some clip of a speech he gave a few days ago, talking about the middle class. What does Romney know about it ? Even the Kennedys, as rich as they were, could at least make you think they gave a shit about poor/middle class. Romney clearly has no empathy towards them.

Wow. I didn't know that.

Well, the IOC can really only stop people from using olympic logos, themes, footage, etc. Does the commercial just talk about the Olympics or does it use actual Olympics logos, footage, etc.?

This guy is one of the worst politicians in US history. Not necessarily because of how much he lies (which he does but so do a lot of people) but because of how bad he is at hiding it. It's like he doesn't understand the internet exists and people can fact check so much easier now.

He also has the face of a permanent liar, he looks like he learned how to smile from a textbook. EVERY single interview this guy has he looks like he's lying no matter what he says. He could say "I'm an advocate of the free market" and STILL look like he's hiding something behind the statement. He's just hilariously bad at every turn.

I can't believe this guy actually has a chance of being elected.

Rick Santorum/Perry/Cain are much much worse. They are the absolute worst stain/proof of how low this country has gotten. Romney is still really bad too though obviously.

So doubting the president's nationality (as a proxy to his ethnicity) is reasonable but scratching one's head about the past business and tax dealings of a candidate is a distraction? Makes sense.

IIRC Mitt is in an Olympic Winter Jacket and standing on a stage at some point.

I'm sorry I'm trying to find the video online somewhere but having a really hard time locating it. I'm sure I'll see it again tonight though.
