What do you mean? Comixology, for example, has all the new 52 stuff up to this week's releases.
Oh, I see my mistake. New 52 started in November of last year so I am only seeing 11 issues. For some reason I assumed it started in January of 2011.

I'm new to reading comics in anything other than a graphic novel or omnibus format.

Comixology sale: Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine six issue miniseries by Jason Aaron and Kubert. It is really good and you should really buy it.

It is amazing. One thing, though. There's a three page fold out spread that, no lie, is one of my favorite moments in comic history. I just would hate anyone missing out on the full impact of it.

So, just this one time, guys, get the print copy.

TRUST ME.

I'll let you know about the others when I get through Catwoman (supposedly horrible), Batman: The Dark Knight, and Legends of the Dark Knight.

I just read the first TPB of the new Catwoman series and found it to be surprisingly good. Of course, I realize there are people out there that can't stand anything Winick writes, but I'm not one of them.

anyone know what the easiest and cleanest way to get all or at least most of the Adams/O'Neal Batman run from the 70s?

There is a series of three hardcovers called Batman Illustrated which have Neal Adams' entire catalog of Batman work. They are recent and still relatively easy to find.

If people do want to lean towards print, there's a new ( maybe with a remainder mark?) copy of the hardcover for $4 with free shipping eligible at amazon.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Adam Kubert is one of my favorite artists of all time and that gatefold gave me shades of Wolverine #90, the issue where fought Sabretooth and popped a claw in his brain.

In summary: Buy Astonishing Spider-Man and Wolverine. Either through the comixology sale for the digital folk, or the trade at amazon cheap for the 3 page spread and shelf time.

3? I think?

LIS, you'll know when you see it.

The one with the eyes? Yeah the digital kinda loses the impact there, it just looks like a double spread with even smaller writing.

For the prices of digital comics they sure are stingy with the bandwidth, the resolution of spreads is often crappy.

Eyes? Huh?

Planet Doom, braj.

Digital newbie question: is there any point for me to use the Marvel and DC apps/stores or does comixology cover the same back catalog with the same sales?

Huh, I never even knew Spidey and Wolverine had a relationship. Will buy.

In other reading news, I just finished Locke & Key: Clockworks. The character work continues to be phenomenal. But this arc seemed to undercut much of the series' mystery. I guess the end is near. Still entertaining but I could have done with fewer answers. I'm weird like that.

I'm totally down for Remender/Romita Jr Captain America. Brubaker's Cap has been a decompressed bore for YEARS now, I'm ready for some sci-fi high adventure pulp shit, Remender.

Love Remender, a little worried about Romita.

His stuff lately hasn't been nearly at his peak, but most of the time it just seems like he runs out of time, maybe things will be different this time

Does no one but me give a fuck about a book centered around Legion? I mean, this is Spurrier's pitch.
Psychic insanity! Telepathic parasites! Golden Age characters! Multi-dimensional prison! Kirby krackles! Romance! Murder most foul! Parental Trauma! Classic villains! New villains! Sex! Drugs! Memetically altered rock music! Wraparound weirdness! Aliens! A bloody enormous crow! EVERYTHING EXPLODES!

Does that only sound fucking awesome to me? Because if that's the case you are all my enemies.

gaaah just announce whatever book the Point One Wiccan/Loki/Miss America story is teasing, PLEASE. If Gillen is writing YA Vol. 2 or something along those lines, I will die of joy.

Thinking of starting a new series tomorrow, any recommendations on what to focus on looking for of these trades?
Brian Michael Bendis's Daredevil Run
Ultimate Comics Spiderman
X-Force (can I start with Uncanny?)
Whatever Batman book comes after Batman&Robin Vol 3.

I'm in for the new captain america, i've been tired of Brubaker's Cap since Reborn started and ended up dropping it twice from that time on.

Alright, I took your advice and picked up all of Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine.

Also, what up Comics-GAF? I just started reading comic books like a month ago for some reason.

18 minutes left to buy the amazing fantastic Astonishing Spider-Man and Wolverine six issue mini on sale at comixology. There is a three page spread that will be neglected, but it's still great and you can just tape three tablets together ( right?...or buy the hardcover at amazon on the cheap).

As far as what's up with comics.....Hawkeye #1!!!!!!!!!!!!

also, reading lots of Image books, pretending the new 52 is still interesting, and waiting for Marvel Now! which is in no way, shape, or form actually "now".

This was pretty neat I thought...

A few years back, artist Drew Johnson and writer Michael Jelenic collaborated on a one-shot Wonder Woman story for DC Comics. DC ultimately passed on publishing the story and put it into "the vault;" i.e. they held onto it in their inventory, for possible future release as a filler issue. There's not much chance of that happening now, what with the New 52 and all, so Drew has been showing off some of the completed, fully colored pages on his deviantART page, with inks by Ray Snyder and colors by Lizzy John.

And they are GORGEOUS.

So Valiant comics

All the new reboots seem to be getting a lot of good buzz but just like the first run I have a hard time feeling compelled to give books a shot.

Of the reboots what are the best books so far? Are they worth it? Right now i'm looking at X-O Manowar and Archer & Armstrong

Are any of the old runs worth it? I never really read them either

Holy shit that has more panel;s with WW in it then the whole Azzarello run! Need to get some WW in my life like this.

Edit; Buy all of Valiant brah, I do. Super fucking hyped for Shadowmna. It will outsell every Marvel Now title.

Man, DC...recolor those shorts black and that WW symbol silver and release this shizz.

had a nostalgia overload at the comic book store today...saw this on sale:

Preview: TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ADVENTURES VOL. 1

it's a collection of comics i used to read when i was really young...they came with audio tapes that narrated and acted out the story with sound effects and everything. I never thought i'd see this shit again. I used to read these books every day until they were all worn out with the covers falling off. This would have been like 20-25 years ago and I can still almost hear the sound effects from that first panel in my mind. Its making me want to start reading all the new TMNT comics and collecting the older stuff again as well

then I found the audio narration on youtube - TMNT Adventures Return Of The Shredder Side A P1

Can't even believe this shit. I really never expected to come across this stuff again

What what what!

there was something about the art that always turned me away from the books of the old run. But they've gone digital so I can revisit them now if they've held up well. Its odd i'm usually one to give books of all genres and universes a shot (Crossgen, malibu, Image, wildstorm, etc) but these books i never did.
