I can understand Walt's reluctance to continuously pay off "Mike's guys" in exchange for their silence. Walt simply doesn't know them, or the extent of their knowledge in relation to his operation or his identity -- Mike, however, does. I agree that it's foolish for Walt to be completely dismissive toward their importance, considering he doesn't know what it is exactly they know.

Walt's private conversation with Lydia on the matter of the "hit" she placed on Mike and why she placed it to begin with was interesting, in that it seemed like he was silently in agreement with her line of logic. I have a feeling that they both share a similar opinion of these 9 loose ends - Lydia out of fear, Walt out of inconvience/greed - and they might also share the same solution as to how to ultimately deal with them.

I would not be surprised in the least if Walt inquired as to the names of the people on that list and begin to formulate a plan to have them removed from the picture. They presently pose the biggest and most costly inconvenience to his operation, and I cannot imagine Walt continuing to bankroll their silence.

There was no reason for the kid to be shot. He waved at them because they were all excited. He wouldn't have known anything about the heist because it was planned out so well. Fuck Todd.

Just looking at that train graphic, for comparison's sake how many lbs a week were they cranking out at Gus's superlab? Was it 50lbs a week or 50 lbs a day?

Also, with this insane amount of methylamine, won't they have to upgrade from the tented houses to a bigger lab now?

Walt's finger prints on the bugging device will be his downfall. Ridiculous oversight.

Could be.

I know the bug in the picture is what they used to overhear, but the thing added to his computer, a key logger?

Wasn't it higher, like 250 lbs a day? I mean, they had 4 or 5 large bins loaded with it, those would be 50 lbs each.

I believe Jesse said they were producing 200 lbs. a week, so 50 lbs a day sounds right.

Probably not, they could get along just fine as they are now just without the worry of getting more methylamine for a while.

Will Walt want to upgrade now regardless? You betcha!

Yup, this is what I was getting at. They have to get to the promo poster shot of him in the warehouse surrounded by bins/cash/guns this season, right?

The most insane thing about all of this amidst the Skyler way is that someone makes their own dumb signature by putting PEACE at the end of everything.

Was just thinking about how the characters would fit on a standard alignment chart.

Lawful Good - Hank
Neutral Good - Walt Jr.
Chaotic Good - Jesse
Lawful Neutral - Brock
True Neutral - Marie
Chaotic Neutral - Walt
Lawful Evil - Saul
Neutral Evil - Mike/Skyler
Chaotic Evil - Gus/Tuco/Ted/Todd

That was...intense. Great episode, and I don't care about the "oh, what a coincidence the bridge was at exactly same place as the methylamine bla bla bla". I mean, it's a TV show, not everything has to be always "true to reality". And that ending...awesome. Maybe the episode I've enjoyed the most this season.

subtle troll?

Anyway Gus is a prime example of lawful evil

Great episode.

You guys heard a train at the end of the cold open? How did you guys even remember that detail? You didn't know the episode even had anything to do with trains at the time. Seems like kind of a random thing to pick up on and remember.

I remember hearing it, but I thought it was outside hah.

this has got to be the most beautifully shot breaking bad episode.

for example, that shot with walt his hat on standing on the tracks was gorgeous.

his trolls are as subtle as skyler fucking ted.

It's probably been answered/asked but wouldn't the water be getting mixed in with the methylene ?

"it'll only amount to about four percent dilution, but yes, they will notice. at which point they'll blame china for sending a marginally weaker batch."

I think he means the Methylene that is being stolen. They're taking it from the bottom.. and pumping water in at the top. Are they diluting what they're stealing?

Great episode, that ending... goddamn. That my phone rang at the exact second Todd pulled out his gun might have taken some of the sting of the ending, but even still, jeeeeeeeeesus.

If Lydia doesn't get a nomination for her supporting role then I don't know who should.

lol what? Total overractor.

So no one else notice that Todd didn't get the secured tag snapped completely back? At least, it looks like he didn't.

I think what hes asking is wouldn't they be stealing diluted methlymine since they were pouring in water as they were pumping it out? Im guessing the answer is that the water would stay at the top due to different densities or something? Not a science guy though, and that seems weird considering that they said the methlymine was water based.

Just watched it...

Wow. This show just keeps on fucking with you in completely new and amazing ways.

I was half-convinced that Todd was a DEA guy considering how inquisitive he is, but the climax *definitely* put an end to that theory.

One thing I'm really impressed with about this show--the writers are so damn creative to continually come up with new ways for the operation to keep going. The tented houses, the cases full of meth equipment, and the train heist were all completely plausible--but ingenious.

diffusion isn't instant. they'd likely be diluting their methylamine slightly, but since the tank was several thousand gallons it would probably only be a few parts per million. especially since they didn't start running the water until partway into the siphon.
