If Amirox has watched and strongly disliked MLP, I don't see too much wrong with him not trusting the tastes of people who do enjoy it. If someone enjoys things that don't appeal to you at all, it seems only natural to look elsewhere for recommendations.
"As anyone would say, sweet pony ass."
Great Scott...
this is reasonable if there's a pattern of disagreement but disregarding someone's opinion because of one example is hilariously short-sighted and narrow.
like if I'm talking to some guy who likes all the same strategy games as me and he recommends I check out the newest Paradox game I'm not going to blow him off because he liked Uncharted 2 because that's ridiculously stupid.
Ok then? I'm not sure where to go from there: the truth is in the post, you either accept it or you don't. Moving on to more pressing matters...
I didn't say I hate a convention. Point to a post where I said I hate a convention. Reading comprehension is important dude.
I said I did not want to be around smelly nerds with poor hygiene. It's true. But I always said I wanted to attend conventions, I just didn't want to have to suffer that part of it. I eventually was convinced that there was enough worth it at the convention I was interested in to suffer that aspect of it.
Did that aspect go away? No. It was there exactly as I feared. Did I still enjoy myself? Sure..
I'm sorry.
Twilight Sparkle at least gets much better in Season 2.
Come to think of it season 2 makes all the mediocre ponies decent and nerfs all the good ponies from the first season. Odd how that works out.
I suppose it does depend on how much you have in common with the person's tastes to begin with, but as he said, GAF has an endless sea of opinions. You can afford to be a bit picky.this is reasonable if there's a pattern of disagreement but disregarding someone's opinion because of one example is hilariously short-sighted and narrow.

How do I know you're not in denial dude? How do I know you're not embracing the 'Fanboy nerd'?
How do I know you're not attending these things with a 'Anime Pro' shirt on and you're just denying it. I'm not saying this just to single you out cause nobody wants to make themselves look bad on the internets. But somehow I don't think I'm getting the whole story Amir0x.
Don't be a Bully, Be a STAR!
I recently tried watching a few of these after not having watched cartoons for like 5 years. Thought I might give them a chance. Needless to say, most of these are indeed directed at 7-12 year olds. Futurama obviously not, but they were really boring to me.Let me run the list of animated shows I like past you to make sure it's acceptable: MLP, Adventure Time, Avengers: EMH, Archer, Wakfu, Futurama, Gravity Falls, AtlA, and Korra, just off the top of my head.
Welcome to my ignore list.
You should check out Avatar:TLA again. Starts out slow (and yes, rather childish) but by the time season 2 hits it is one of the better shows out there, animated or not. The character arcs and storytelling are really well done.I recently tried watching a few of these after not having watched cartoons for like 5 years. Thought I might give them a chance. i have to say one thing I am pround about in my nerddom is that i own absolutely no clothes that feature anything relating to nerd culture, or internet memes, or ironic hot topic shit!

i think that's a bit of a distortion.
i don't just disregard someone's opinion if they like something I don't like. There are tons of people who like things I don't like who have opinions I trust very much on neoGAF.
It's just that there are certain key things that I consider SO offensive, so genuinely, unforgivably shitty that if someone found it in their tastes to accommodate those things, I find it difficult to be able to trust the opinions they'd share with me later. There'd always be a hint of doubt in the back of my mind.
There are very, very few things I consider in those categories. In Gaming, I only have three games that fit that description. In animation, there are only two. In movies, there are about five. In books, there are about five.
It's sufficiently specific that most people don't even have to be concerned with such a thing. For me, it's just an easy quick trigger.
In S2 Twilight is the best pony. It's just that in season 1 she was Applejack tier in every episode not about a sleepover.
Ah okay, I assume we can rule out cosplay too?
I'm wearing a Dig Dug t-shirt :/

Not yet, although my sisters are trying to convince me this year to go as Bolin, since they're going as Korra and Asami respectively. I just... can't bring myself to do it man. I don't find that enjoyable! I only do things I can love man
I just don't do it! But Dig Dug is cool, the retro shit is starting to get genuinely popular these days as clothing

Eh. Not sure I'd mentally blacklist people for any of these.
right, but that's why my mental blacklist is my own. hypothetically if you felt so passionately about something being shitty that you would make a mental blacklist, it probably would be unique from mine
New My Little Pony. never really caught the old one at all
While I am sure there are worse anime than Lucky Star, I fortunately stop myself from watching anything whose cover screens "THIS IS GOING TO BE WORSE THAN LUCKY STAR"
man i don't want to know what an anime worse than Lucky Star looks like
but i am so morbidly curious...
Kodomo no Jikan. It's a harem with first graders.
I just don't get the hate. In every type of pop culture fandom there are people who take things too far. You take the extreme examples and hold them up as the norm... why? To feel better about yourself?

How dare you.I watched the original mlp movies and remembered liking them.
I like happy things.
Yay.
who wears Brony shirts in public?
I don't understand the appeal of my Little Pony, I watched the first few episodes on Netflix and it was designed for a 6 year old girl to understand. My little sister(said 6 year old girl) loved it though. What exactly seperates MLP from the rest of the kids shows?
It's a cute show that has lighthearted humor, something rare in comedies these days. It's not for everyone, but the creator went out of her way to make it more universal than one might expect.

People who don't give a shit, people who really want to not give a shit, people who are trying to be ironic (these guys aren't popular with the fanbase). Lots of people.who wears Brony shirts in public?
