I agree completely. Rather than calling them newbs, help people understand what to look for when spraying.
Around 5 years ago, I was on a team with a guy in source for a year and a half. He could never spray well at all, and I always wondered why he'd let the team down in scrims. Just couldn't do it.
Just recently I was talking with him, he got GO:Beta. He was like: I never knew about recoil until I started playing GO and people were talking about spray patterns.
Eveything clicked into place about why that team was so shitty way back in the day.

I'm having this bug as well, and I have not messed around with VLC lately. It's the game's fault, not yours.I have an annoying HUD 'font' size bug. It suddenly got bigger: the top scoreboard, the kill indicators, health and armor boxes etc. have this 'blow-up' look. And every round some of it changes back to the original size. One round the score indicator is in regular size while others section are enlarged; the next round some other element is normal but others aren't.
I suspected this was because i changed the subtitle display size in VLC player but i've reverted it but the issue remains.

but that is the definition of newbsnew players how havent learned how to play. i know they probably get better, but everyone has been a noob at some point.
It was more detrimental than useful, even if it was viable. There are times when it can be more beneficial to spray, but those are few and far between.

I played cs from the first alpha to like cs 1. something and was on a long break from gaming when CS:S was out. Its spooky to be away from something so long and instantly know all the maps. The buy menu is very bad I guess I will need to bind those keys if I continue to play this. Headshot seem very easy to get compared to past as the head model just seems bigger but maybe I'm just remembering it wrong. I also don't care for how they do the scoped weapons it...it just feels off. Now sure what it is. Now they just need to redo DOD.

You can learn to use spray patterns in a semi efficient manner, but there's still a level of unpredictability to it. Sorry, but even the top players cannot hit all of their bullets while spraying. A well placed burst to the head is preferable, unless you're facing several players at close range.
This, of course, is with regards to the AK or M4. With an MP5 you can spray all day.

Spraying is an essential skill that you'll need often unless you only awp. Even then on save rounds you might pick up a rifle and you'll need to know how to use it. Spraying isn't about hitting all your bullets, it's about using a method that's more efficient than burst, stop, burst against multiple opponents.
What do you do on CT side when they're save rushing for a bomb plant? How about when another enemy peeks when you're bursting a single enemy? Or when you're trying to retake a site and you don't have time to work picks?
I guess if someone is content with doing the bare minimum to hold a positive k/d in a pub then they can get away with not spraying. For everybody who wanted to get out of open in cs 1.6 had better learn it... unless they're fr0d lol.

That times when spraying is better, or even viable, are "few and far between". Even if bursting at a long distance is preferable you need to know how to control spray eventually and associating it with being a "newb" is wrong.
Bursting is easier. Compensating for 1-2 recoil bullets is a lot easier than 10-15+. At least with 1.6 as my source experience is pretty limited.
This is probably the weirdest/stupidest question - but can you spraypaint a picture, like how you can in TF2, in CS:GO?
I thought that was pretty funny at times, when people sprayed funny pics and memes.
Ducking appears to keep your accuracy extremely high instead of resetting it like in 1.6... still can't really tell where bullets are going, the fog is still a stupid design decision.
Valves reasoning boils down to "because we made each map too busy for the eyes we want to compensate by adding FOG!"
If 120Hz is the standard you're comparing TF2 to, then you're right.
If you're talking 60 FPS however, then you have either never seen TF2 on a computer made in the last four years, or never bothered to turn on multi-core rendering.
How did he not know about recoil? That's one of the most basic and obvious components of the game! That doesn't make any sense how do you play for that long and not notice
OK this is most likely not the fix and I may sound stupid, but I've had similar problem with games in the past (especialy the witcher 2) until I changed one setting.I have a mid generation Core2Quad @2.4ghz and a GTX 460 and TF2 runs like a ballsack stuck to a leather seat regardless of what settings I change it to. I spent some months doing data mining and back and forth emails with robin walker himself trying to solve what the problem was and we both ended up completely stumped. I easily run the game in the 300FPS range in spawn rooms filled with teammates, but as soon as I step out onto the stage? 45FPS down to 15 at the worst set of explosions and insanity.
TF2 is possibly the worst optimized Source game I have ever played, and it will pretty much always remain that way. For comparison I run all others at a steady above 60FPS clip and never see frame dips no matter what kind of shit is going on.

The beta is basically the release game at this point, unless they're holding content and updates off that we don't know about. There's more maps to come according to the game files and workshop support means it won't be a problem. 5v5 is the limit for competitive matchmaking, 6v6 for casual, I think. The community server option will let you join 3rd party servers. Friend joining is pretty buggy right now
Correct me if I'm wrong but there is supposed to be Team Matchmaking, right? It would be nice to get scrims going at launch.

I doubt they'll ditch ESEA. I believe CS:GO automatches ESEA members to ESEA servers.
And Valve said that there will be separate ELOs for individuals, teams, and Steam groups/Clans.

How do they do ESEA matching? You have a link for the 2nd half of your post?
ESEA anti-cheat has always been pretty top notch. Plus now that CAL is dead and CEVO is irrelevant, ESEA controls competitive play. Unless a league spawns that offers good enough prizes that they can steal the top teams, it probably won't change anytime soon.
Never really had a problem with their servers either. I remember lpkane released a lot of information regarding the servers when complaint threads would pop up over the years.
