Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

I have a 560ti and during my time on the latest stress tests I don't think I really dropped below 60, I just did the quests in the initial part of two starter areas though, but both seem densely populated with structures and lots of models. Ran real solid.

Last time I had tried it, which was the old BWE, which was BWE2 I think? Now that ran HORRIBLY for me, like 20 FPS.

I had performance drops compared to the previous stress test - here is my latest video:

Not sure why - but I dip into the 40s sometimes when with previous tests it would peg 60 even during large groups in DEs.

I've got at 560SE, and I'm 15-20 FPS no matter what res, settings or area. :/

It's crazy how some people have LV 40+ character. I've started playing since BWE3 and the furthest I've went was a LV14 Human Guardian. My current (definitive) character is a LV9 Norn Ranger and I also had a LV7 Human Warrior.

Is there a tutorial for this? I've never batched tasks on Photoshop (always done everything manually)

In BWE2 I went from scratch to 29, and didn't get to play a lot. Well, in MMO terms of time. There were a few that hit 80 in BWE2. Nuts.

I'm one of those that (for some reason) people are raging over on some forums. I plan on getting to 80 as fast as possible with my first toon. I have my reasons, which apparently pisses people off to no end.

You reached level 29 and you didn't play alot? Whats your secret?

I might rush to 80 also for the early market gold rush.
Then with all the gold made, I can take my time with alts.

It's either that, or go slow then grind gold/mats/gems the hard way when everyone else it at 80 and stuff loses value.

Alright, that's it - I give up! "Uncle", "Mercy", whatever safe word means "I can't do this anymore!"

Title grinding in GW1 is BRUTAL, just so boring and unrewarding as it takes forever to hit the next level. I'm going to settle at 20/50 and wait for release, I think that's pretty good for someone who just purchased the game a month and a half ago.

Is it normal my fps dropped to 20 when there were about 15-20 people in 1 spot using all their abilities (during the stress test)?

Got an i5 3450, AMD HD 7850 and 8gigs or RAM.

Happened to me in Lion's Arch when everyone was kicked out of WvWvW.

i7 2600k 3.4 GHz, 560 Ti, 8GB RAM

So, I have been at Gamescom yesterday and took the chance to stroll around their chillout lounge and talk to people. The booth was actually pretty cool. I'm sure you have seen the pictures, with their all white interior, their little zen garden, paintings and that water wall. It was also pretty quiet, had soothing light and they served cold drinks. Now that I think about it, I would totally dig a bar like that.

I managed to ask their french community manager a few questions (sorry, I forgot your name! It was a long day...). She made clear, that she would have nothing new to share regarding the game, so don't expect anything ground breaking here :)

Here we go:

They not only have community managers for different languages, but also different times. She told me, they have pretty much 24/7 coverage, so no matter where you live and when you give some feedback, there is a good chance it will be read.

They still think third party communities are a very important ressource for feedback. The official forum is, of course, a very important aspect as well, but they do realize, that not everybody wants to participate there, and that third party communities often have some of the most dedicated members. They regularly check up on various community sites (including reddit) and relay reports on the feedback they find. She emphasized that they also actually respond on external sources as well.

One of the most challenging times on her job, was when everybody was constantly asking for the release date. She told me, how she was so torn apart as she would have loved to respond to the people but couldn't, unless the official announcement was made.

Being ingame is actually a part of their job. While they need to attend to forums, external communities, twitter and facebook, they also assume their support role ingame. So when you see someone troddling around with that ANet logo, it is totally ok to ask them something or give feedback. Naturally, many of the ANet employees also play the game in their free time and some of them even continue to wear the ANet badge and respond to people - voluntarily.

When I asked her, why ANet is cracking down so hard on the dances, she told me, she "can't talk about that". She only said, they simply want to keep them a secret and she wasn't aware things were going so crazy about that, with youtube accounts getting banned and stuff.

Good to know ANet will have that level of support from a CSR standpoint as well as a general devloper to player interaction.

So I ordered the download version from the website ages ago, been in the BWE and such.

Now I think I want to get the collectors edition from Amazon. Is there a way to cancel my current version and attach the collectors to my account? And how would it work to still get early access? Would I use the current launcher I have and change the key when I get early access? I am not sure if I would get it mailed to me early or if the collectors edition would get to me early.

I've had more fun with GW2 than I had with Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3, Minecraft and many other games, and it's not even out yet.

Lots of companies could learn from ArenaNet.

I am pretty sure you have 5 days after launch to input your launch key in order to have uninterrupted access to the game (In other words, the "prepurchase" code that Amazon should give you upon purchasing the CE will work from Pre-launch up through 5 days after launch). So as long as you recieve your CE within 5 days of launch, you should be good.

I am pretty sure you can contact NCSoft's support to cancel your order from thier website. I am not sure abour attaching the collectors to your pre-existing account, but I assume it shouldn't be too difficult.

To level fast in WvW, you have to complete events. The most spammable ones are defending, either dolyaks or buildings. If there's no place to defend or capture, then just constantly go about escorting dolyaks for some amount of exp.

In PvE, it's again events. Go look for dynamic events. When you get to the areas that have almost constant back and forth, you'll just keep going from activity to activity. When it comes to hearts, unless I was with friends I would always skip a heart unless a dynamic event was about that would let me earn credit for both the heart and the event.

What helps in both: always, always, always gather resource nodes. The only time you should put them on the backburner is if you're hurrying over to get gold credit for an event. If you're in WvW, the northern part of every home borderland has resource nodes that are gatherable for a level 1 character, the middle areas have the 15+ stuff, and the southern areas have the tier 3 nodes. The eternal battle grounds has nodes tiered from 4-6, with the lower tiers near everybody's spawn, and the higher tiers near stonemist castle.

This also works as a guide of where to go when if you're just starting and you're playing alone. Stick to your home borderland if you're below level 15, start attacking other home borderlands as you get to level 30, and then the eternal battlegrounds should be a welcome playground after that. As the game matures and several people attain higher level characters with better equipment, traits, and skills, this will be more of a rule rather than advice.

Finally, you should craft. Every five or so levels, take a break and craft. In WvW, the home borderlands contain every single crafting station grouped together in the home team's spawn area, so you have no excuse.

Using these tips, during BWE3 I attained about 50 levels between five different characters, one of them a Charr Warrior that reached level 22 or something.

I think I'm going to trade out my Greatsword for a Staff in WvWvW. It has an AoE Swiftness and a wall to stop invaders from entering our buildings

Oh yes. Welcome to the Guardian Staff party! Wall doesn't last very long, but its so satisfying to use it in the hallways/doorway of the Forts and see their zerg stopped and knocked back for 3/4 seconds.

That can make all the difference in reinforcements arriving. It is indeed satisfying! Denial is my favorite part of that class just as playing a Vengeful Echo Rit/Me is in GW1. Looking forward to it!

OK I ordered the Collectors edition because I really wanted the extra stuff. I have done enough procrastinating and must come up with my race/class combo for release!

To people who are getting low FPS even though you have a good graphics card, it is most likely due to CPU. Post your CPU specs as well.

kayos, had a good time watching your stream yesterday. :) was a nice distraction while I downloaded 200k files I never knew were there yet to be downloaded. t_t oh well, at least now I can say I am ready to launch (?). haha

Thanks! I know the sound was a bit loud in the beginning and it wasn't good quality. I didnt' realize xSplit had crap sound streaming quality if you're using the free version... T_T

Some of us have been at this for a few months now and still don't know for sure.

You've got 8 days.

Good luck.

Pretty sure this is a Retro exclusive problem.

i5 3450 should be good right? From what I'm told an i7 wouldn't do too much for gaming.

The i5 2500 or 2500k (if you want to OC) are pretty standard for gaming rigs these days. Some people go with i7s, but generally speaking it won't be a big jump over the i5 for gaming.

Yeah, this is probably my issue. I have a C2D E8400 with a HD 6870. I plan on upgrading to an i5-3570 and 8Gb DDR3. But it has to wait sadly until a few months after launch and possibly next year.

I haven't played the game since the closed beta, but I really want to see how it runs now. I only built my machine in February(i7 quad, 12gigs DDR3, GTX 580) but back then it was barely playable.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, 3.20 Ghz
4 Gb DDR3
AMD Radeon 7850
I play in 1920x1200 with max settings, except Shadows (Low).

Can't upgrade to Ivy Bridge without changing my motherboard or getting a new computer...

You could just ask Matt...he has the same system. Which based on what he's told me it runs at 60+ nearly constantly.

-i5 clocked at 4.4
-AMD 5850
-8 gigs of ram.

Play at 1920x, most max settings (lowering the settings doesn't seem to have a big impact at all).

I'll get near 60 most places... but it dips hellishly low (20 fps) in WvWvW and big crowds. Shouldn't be dipping that low IMO. And as I said, turning down the settings doesn't seem to help much.
