Fighting Games Weekly | August 13-19

I have nothing against Persona, but all those out-of-towners makes me want to see AE for once.

edit: Yes, AE is about be on stream.

Well when you're in Evil Genius you might as well use a evil ass character.

ZING!

On the real I kind of wished Justin would use Chun. We need a top Chun in America!

To the magician guy.

Looks about right for a tournament.

Why is Chun considered so sorry in AE? I knew she sucked in Divekick edition because divekicks ate her up, but is that still the reason she stinks?

Chun is like Claw. She has to beat you by poking you to the death and using the occasional shorts into ex legs and tick grab. Her problems are are bad reversals, low health, a lot of very situational anti airs, dive kicks poop on her, and she has basically no "mix up". Her cross ups are mediocre and she is just gonna go for a shit load of tick grabs on wake up. But she is not awful. If Zeus can do what he does with Claw, someone can do something similar with Chun.

Hello everyone, if you watched Big 2 last night you may have seen Spooky talking about a future event called "Kings of Poverty".

Well, now that Next Level is finally confirmed as the venue for September 2-3, I went ahead and made a Facebook page with more information and a link to the schedule. It's a 2-day charity event which includes ~24 hours of speedruns as well as a mystery tournament combining FGs, other competitive games, and races!

If you're interested, click here: https://www.facebook.com/events/244249092362653/

Real talk if I had some freaking way to go to those damn events id money match his ass in whatever and donate the winnings to the charity.

:(

michaeljacksonpopcorn.gif but with almonds @ that stream chat pic, hahahaha.

FGC continues maximum ridiculosity. And GAF-FGC is best FGC.

i'm probably wrong, but weren't they non-escapable/techable in the earlier versions of sf2?

In early versions they were and they tended to do a ton of damage, but without them there's really no way to crack someone turtling. Whenever I land Balrogs headbutt throw in 2 you could feel the frustration.

It still does a crap ton of damage in ST lol

Also sf2 throws used to do like 1/4th life or more if I remember right. So it was just 3 or so tick throws and what ever else and you won lol which is exactly what I aimed to do as a kid. I didn't really give a shit what people thought. They could give me 25 cents if they want me to lose.

Seth Killian talks a million things fighting games related, mostly old days of fighting games at the arcades.

I still don't understand why/how throws got a reputation for being disrespectful. It's a tool, regardless of how weak/powerful they are, just like any other tool.

Throws were really strong and people disliked it. As the article noted, a lot of arcades had their own culture on what was acceptable and ignore it at your peril. Some Mexican arcades would have the no throw mentality and some Asian arcades had a yield the second round if you won the first mentality. Cues that's racist gif.

“I remember telling my friend Benny, you know, you have to go start the car.” Killian grabbed the money and made good his escape.

Sad/funny thing is this doesn't seem out of place to me.

I almost got into a fight for throwing someone in Tekken Tag Tournament in the arcade. It would have been on if the guy didn't have 3 other friends with him. I'm sure he wouldn't have tried to push me if he was alone. He did tell me to stop throwing him, but I didn't listen.

I'd rather have the issues with today's FGC over worrying about whether you'd get stabbed or attacked in an arcade. It happened to me a few times.

I got death threats playing Tekken 5 ^_^ Topped the arcades wins streak and got people perma banned from the arcade/mall :lol

Wang was scumbag in 5.0
