Fighting Games Weekly | August 13-19

I hope Persona getting a lot of entrants at both Big Two and WNF isn't a one-time thing.

I think this game is good and fun enough to stand the test of time. Even with my occasional saltiness, I'm right back in there. If I lived in NY, I would be at Big Two every week. :(

Well, I'm new here, so hi everyone.

Anyway, I hope you forgive the following for being semi-self-promotional, but I'd like to bring everyone's attention to a tournament taking place this weekend that is currently not listed in the OP in this thread.

The tournament is Chicago 4 Ultimate in Midwest Arena (presented by HeartNana). It takes place this Saturday, the 18th, in the Chicago, IL area. For those unaware, this tournament is the latest in the line of Chicago Heart events hosted by HeartNana--Blazblue SBO qualifier and Evo Top 8-placer--during his brief time home in the States. This tournament can also be thought of as the summer equivalent to this past January's Frosty Faustings IV. (Chicago 4 Arena will be taking place in the same venue as FFIV as well.)

The midwest's top players will be in attendance for this tournament, including Wolfkrone for Street Fighter and Brightside for Marvel. It's also one of the few times you'll get to see a lot of these players on a big stage, at least until the next Frosty Faustings or UFGT9. And given the tournament's name, Persona 4 Arena will obviously be featured as well.

The tournament will be streamed at Medina (who also streamed FFIV) and we're hoping that some of you might tune in. Or better yet, if you live in the greater Chicagoland area, come by and say hi. All the tournament info--including location, times, and deals on pizza--is in the official SRK forum thread.

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say for now. We now continue with your regularly scheduled thread.

Thanks for sharing. Too bad this weekend is not good for me, or I'd go.

@P4A players: can someone type out what all these status effects do?

So is Cross Counter coming back anytime soon or what? As much as I love the creepy virgin approach that Zhi takes with his uploads, I miss me some Mike and Gootecks.

I'm not so sure about this. SFxT will be played by a lot of people for the next 3 months because of the Capcom tournies. Not only that but we know there is a major patch in the works and if it comes out within the next 3 months it could change a lot. If it fixes the game it will obviously make the game grow. I don't know how much it will grow but that's up to the players. If the game has a large community by next year they will have to reconsider their decision. Also this is coming from a guy who allegedly said Persona sucks because of 2 frame overheads and unblockables. Can't take shit from this guy seriously anymore.

Will add to OP after Big Two.

Oh man that last set was INSANE.

And yeah those persona images are kind of dumb, people were spamming them all day yesterday in the Break chat.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't learn your characters. Also rapid slash is an solid assist for dante.

Solid in certain situations overall it doesn't do much. I myself am a Zero/Dante player and I tried out ZmC and just couldn't do it. Basically came down to if Zero lives I win, Zero dies I lose.

I think the reason why Mihe is the most successful ZmC player is because he plays Zero/Vergil/Dante. Just because Vergil with Jam Session just play out so much better than putting him 3rd just for x-factor level 3. Plus X-factor level 2 Vergil with Jam Session is enough to knock out an entire team.

Its because ZmC does nothing for Dante. It doesn't do anything for Vergil either if he doesn't have x factor.
What assists does Dante want? He always seems to feel like an assist character there to be a meatshield in any X/Dante/Vergil team setup.

Strider is his best assist but he does really well with beams, missiles, Tatsu and Drones. Rapid Slash isn't bad for him either to be honest but he requires a bit more than that. Dante is also really beastly with a low/high hitting assist because of Grapple tech.
