Realms is merely okay when they could have easily, easily, easily hit this out of the park and made it the best FTV set ever.
Desert and Shivan Gorge are probably the most useless and offensive cards to be in this set and I thought Glacial Chasm would've been one of the low-value cards. Desert is almost entirely worthless and already saw a reprint in Time Spiral and then as a FNM card. Who was asking for another one?
This was the perfect opportunity for them to reprint a card like Karakas which is an extremely rare card and the chances of it ever being reprinted in a non-premium special set is 0%. Wasteland would've been really awesome for Legacy players and nice for those EDH casuals who don't want to spend 50 dollars acquiring one for their deck. Mutavault would've been a really nice card to have in the set as well instead of Murmuring Bosk.
Let's be honest too, the price of some of the foil versions of cards in this set are only that high because of scarcity and will go down in value or these versions won't be anywhere near that value. The Realms foil of High Market is pre-ordering for 8 dollars which is a whopping one dollar higher than an original non-foil version. This is on StarCityGames too so I imagine these cards are going to be starting out at high prices and most of the non-chase cards will go down.
Maze of Ith, Ancient Tomb and Urborg are the best cards in the set. Still worth it for the MSRP but the price gouging on this makes it a little more questionable for most people I think. Definitely better than last year's set but not as good as it could've been. To note, I'm not angry or anything, I still am keeping my pre-order of the set. I'm happy about half the cards, just wish they would've revealed the stinkers earlier.
