Hang on, you've shelled out for Imperial Recruiter but can't afford fetchlands?

Naw, I don't have the recruiter. Dno why I included him in the list of combos, I guess I was used to proxying him. Either way, were I not terrified of a recruiter reprint cutting his price in half, I'd likely grab him first, since I already have Misty Rainforest, Scalding Tarn, Verdant Catacombs, and Wooded Foothills; my wedge, plus another. The only other lands I'd consider would be ones capable of U or G, and the only remaining ones are onslaught fetches... all absurdly pricey.

How do you word it so the effect stacks?

Wind of Hate
BB
Target player named Zaraki_Kenpachi loses game. Cannot be countered. Can Target player this player outside of this game. (If this player is not currently playing a game, he will lose his or her next game. If this spell is cast again before he has played a game, he will lose his next X games where X is the number of times Wind of Hate was cast.)

Since Stonehorn reads:
When Stonehorn Dignitary enters the battlefield, target opponent skips his or her next combat phase.
The wording would probably be:

"Target player named Zaraki_Kenpachi loses his or her next game."

Edit: Man, fuck all y'all. Everyone trying so hard to get the wording right. You're dead to me MagicGAF! >:(

RTR Release Week card just got released at Gencon panel.

Deadbridge Goliath 2GG
Scavenge 4GG (exile this card from your graveyard to put x plus 1 plus 1 counters on target freature where x is this creatures power. Use this ability only as a sorcery)
5/5

Works pretty well with Dredge, I kind of like. Reasonable beater that can give you extra value afterwards. Uncounterable, permanent creature pump might be sick.

You could say we're zombies to you.

On another note, I'm starting to feel the pain of Francis who had the freakout video a long time ago. It's so aggravating when someone slow rolls your death even though you clearly have no answers or are tapped out.

Yea that's pretty cool and 4 mana for a 5/5 is pretty good on it's own. Although really 4 mana is the most hotly contested spot in a lot of decks right now.

Could you word it as a replacement effect? "The next time Zaraki_Kenpachi would be playing a game, he instead loses it."

Perfect! It stacks now!

Looks pretty darn sweet. G/B still looks like my first RtR deck.

Meh. Doesn't seem like a particularly exciting mechanic, you can make big dudes (and smaller dudes a bit bigger I imagine) but it needs another creature out to work a bit like Wolfir Silverheart which is fine but not super amazing. For it to work the enablers will need to be really good, and the creatures can't be vanilla.
It also doesn't work with the new Lord.

EDIT: Looks like it was debunked.

What was it?

What was it?

Just because it's not exciting doesn't mean it won't be good. You're missing the point that it gives GB resiliency to removal because even if they kill your 5/5 you're going to be able to pump another creature up that much without taking up another card slot. It's all about value and it totally fits the theme of life and death which is what Golgari is about.

Plus, unless RtR dramatically changes things up, spot creature removal in Standard has been on a decline in quality, so a 5/5 beatstick that can be powered out on turn 3 could be brutal.

Sure it's card advantage, but big ass creatures with no abilities are hardly format defining. Especially when you have to pay again for the counters. It's not as good as undying and Vorapede sees no play.

I guess you're right saying 'just because it's not exciting', I do think huge creatures are boring which skews my opinion.

Just remembered Invisible Stalker exists... that stupid U/G hexproof deck from the block PT is going to use this is standard isn't it.

Eh, I don't know about not being good as undying. What it costs in, well, cost, it makes up for in flexibility.

Good luck with the application WanderingWind! One of my friends from college got a similar position (so much for his electrical engineering degree).

I finally got Magic Online. I can't afford any cards right now, but I'm messing around in the new player phantom drafts and it's actually pretty damn fun. I'm gonna try to build mono green infect for standard dailies when I get some cash.

Is there a limit for amount of phantom events you can do?

Damnit, WotC. Green can do more than jam +1/+1 counters on creatures. Use your imagination for once!

So they knew it was fake because the cost was WG when the correct order would be GW.

What's the order for colors? X first? then N? then what color order? I guess this would answer my question?

Image.ashx

wait no it doesn't... so confused...

its clockwise from the top of the magic color circle. pick the order of the colors with the fewest colors between the two colors you're costing. so green white because there's no colors between it. white green would have 3.

I love when people rage quit. It's fulfilling. Glad to see it's performing.

What was the decklist you used?'

Edit: You think Terminus might be a good fit over the Tide when going UW?

Terminus is the bane of aggros decks everywhere. Tide is a minor annoyance.

I threw it together pretty quickly, but it looked something like this:

4x Fog Bank
4x Thought Scour
4x Ponder
4x Feeling of Dread
4x Oblivion Ring
4x Terminus
3x Unsummon
3x Snapcaster Mage
2x Tamiyo, the Moon Sage
2x Jace, Memory Adept
2x Increasing Confusion

4x Glacial Fortress
11x Island
9x Plains

Unsummon is easily the weakest card in the deck, and probably should be Dissipate. I think I prefer the hard counter over Mana Leak because games are going to go long, and it already has Fog Bank and Feeling of Dread for the early game. I dropped Mind Sculpt, mostly because everything in the early game needs to affect the board and not just the library. So basically I just made a UW control deck where milling is the only win condition.

Other cards I would consider: Witchbane Orb, Tormod's Crypt (since there are no swamps to cycle Nihil Spellbomb), Undead Alchemist (for lulz).
