Fighting Games Weekly | August 13-19

In what world is giving two beautiful brand ambassadors an opportunity to discuss a product that is sponsoring the event inherently demeaning to women? I guess it's too much to ask to have internet nerds not froth at the mouth and actually conduct themselves like adults in the presence of the opposite sex?

Spooky did indeed let it happen during a big two once. The nos girls were giving out free samples.

Nothing bad came of it..so I think it's cool. I did not watch this nos girl thing on team hazmat stream can someone give an idea of what they were answering

A random big 2 not a major tournamen

Why the hate? So what if they brought NOS girls to the stream, it's not the first stream to bring attractive chicks (especially NOS girls) to the stream during down time (or just fuck around in general during down time). It's not like it took away from the tournament.

Ponder should also note that levelup and Spooky have done basically the same thing.

But they don't do it during major tournaments and LU sure as hell doesn't really condone it. Sp00ky is more chilled but he knows when and where to draw the line. Tournament and stream has been shit thus far for the most part and Haz had to stoop so low to bring them on and make them look more stupid than they actually are. He may think he was cool for doing that but it was embarrassing. And it has less to do with the act of bringing them on, it's more of what happened.

NOS Girls have been at Big 2/Guard Crush before and at a past East Coast tournament.

But my point was not trying to call Spooky out (hell, I don't mind it), just saying it seems silly to call the stream an embarrassment for doing it.

Just putting the paid models on the stream, in and of itself, isn't inherently negative. In fact, one could argue that a viewer would then have to acknowledge there's a person in there, and not just an object to slobber over inbetween footage of adults playing video games.

It's having those models then respond to the chat directly, when everyone in the community knows it will be filled with nothing but adolescent attempts at shock "humor."

That's where "embarrassing" comes in. It shines a light on just how fucked up it is for tournament organizers to still be relying on old stereotypes regarding nerds and women, a light provided by the other aspect of the community that most members are trying to argue doesn't influence or represent the majority of the community - the "stream monsters."

When the most common comment in the stream chat is "SHOW YOUR TITS", it's not just a stereotype. It's truth.

Damn this sounds pretty bad I'll go back to see how bad it got. I think it's fine having them on stream however letting the stream monsters talk directly to them...bad bad idea.

Ive never seen Spooky do it.
Anyone else besides me remember when Sp00ky put the camera on some random girl, and then she saw herself on the stream's projection and ran out crying or something?

I think that was Guard Crush days.

Yeah, it's a lot more sensitive and stuff now.

I think it might have been the same night that Jaha called out that dude on NeoGAF.

Yea I remember this..though i don't think she ran out crying. Pretty funny at the time...since to me it was just someone that was shy running off.

Bah gawd it's Heel.

Oh, I understand Tony Cannon's point now then.

AND God Dayum Combo seems so skillful with SHadow Labrys already. How does he compare to the other top P4:A players in Cali?

After having months of watching Japanese P4A matches with Japanese voices, it annoys me just a little that tournaments over here insist on keeping the Japanese voices. Not saying the Japanese voices are bad...

...well except for Yosuke, *Rise and Teddie. Ugh.

Edit: Whoops, I didn't mean Chie. I meant Rise. Even worse that everyone keeps the commentating on...

I wish it had a toggle like SSF4, Teddie's japanese voice cracks me the hell up.

Sick Chie by Reynald.

Rise's pretty terrible too.

BTW. The whole thing that was embarrassing, wasn't the NOS thing. It was the fact that one of the hazmat streamers said that women are fun to look at, but not good for commentary.

I'm enjoying my sunday at home.

It was one of the guys ex girlfriend and they were wondering why she was at Next Level.

It's happened at a major before, a couple of years ago. It may not have been Nos but some stream put on some sponsor girls on the mic for awhile.

Spooky had female commentators for Curleh Mustache and one of the Philly events. They were pretty good but the chat didn't want them on

Not Spooky. I think it happened at Revelations last year but im not totally sure. Only women ive seen Spooky put are nina and persia and both are good comentators and arent there because they are ladies.

Wait - the NOS girls reading the Stream chat wasn't embarrassing? Sure it was, just as much as the fact one of the people streaming the event validated that bullshit by essentially claiming that women are best seen, not heard.

I don't understand why any streamer pays even nominal attention to the chat when almost all of them acknowledge the number of people using the chat numbers somewhere around 2-5% of the audience.

Just got in, according to the Revalations schedule AE or UMvC should be on now but I am seeing Persona. Did I miss it or am I watching the wrong stream?

You are so dead. :)

My ears perked up about halfway through his first sentence, but unless I completely misunderstood, it sounded like he said something along the lines of 'what up; there goes Markman, wearing his Madcatz sweatshirt' and then gave a Madcatz plug for fightsticks...
