Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

You kids and your fancy buttons.

I was just looking at this on Wal-Mart's website. Might dig out some extra cash and get one. Need to invest in a backlit keyboard, too.

Using a Razer Naga myself and I'm not the biggest fan of it. While its nice to have all the extra buttons, the 1-3 is a bit out of reach and the middle click on the wheel tends to open 3 tabs at a time :/ I've been looking at Logitech's MMO mouse and that'd be the one I'd go for if I had money for one now

How big are your hands? Cause I can't understand how the 1-3 could be out of reach of your thumb.

Unless you're playing Starcraft or a competetive FPS, you can get away with budget mouses if you're worried about that sort of thing.

The g600 is great. Using it right now and it's perfect for GW2. Best part about it compared to the Naga is the placement of the g-keys. Really easy to figure out which key you're pushing.

For those playing the beta, how is it? For the record I loved the first one, but disliked the level cap and instances.

I've been on the fence because of the rash of disappointments this year for high profile games like mass effect 3

Two of the (probably THE) most popular Competitive FPS mice are (well, were) budget mice. The Intellimouse Exporer 3.0 and Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1. Just saying!

Nah, been wanting to replace the cheap freebies that came with my computer when I built it with something nice. More precision would be nice for some of my other games, too.

I tend to use a claw grip so my hand is only on the back half of the mouse which makes it difficult to reach the first 3 buttons. That and sometimes the left click doesn't always work for me, maybe its because I'm pressing on the backhalf of it, idk its just frustrating

Ah I see. I only recently started following e-sports and it seems everyone lately is rocking some fancy brand name mice.

Those buttons do look easier to distinguish edges than a naga and more than a hex. I might have to put this on the short list.

I'm thinking about getting a Razer Hex to replace my Death Adder. The 6 buttons on the side seem like it would be a huge help.

What is everyone else using?

I bought one for action RPGs. It works great. I use it for Titan Quest, Diablo III, and Path of Exile.

I had a logitech MX518 (i think that is what it is called). The main difference is the grip. The logitech takes a claw grip, while you palm the naga hex. Took a couple of weeks for my hand to adjust. It actually hurt palming the mouse for more than a couple of hours. but I adjusted.

I couldn't manage without those extra buttons, now.

My sons each have an Acer Aspire 5755g-6841. Has an nVidia GeForce GT 540m with 1gb of VRAM. 4gb of DDR3 memory.

Intel i5 2450m 2.5ghz.

They play Diablo 3 with no probs. Think they'll be ok for GW2?

i have i5 2500k and gtx 580 and diablo doesnt run as well as it should but guild wars 2 runs smooth as hell!

I'm contemplating using a PS3 controller for GW2 ... anyone else doing this? And does anyone have any resources for getting this hooked up on my system? I have never used a gamepad on my computer so i'm a bit clueless on what to do.

I stopped using Razer after having 3 different Death Adders brick on me. I use a logitech g400 now.

I bought a Naga when I played WoW and to be honest you almost never use those side buttons, in the end your keyboard muscle memory just works better.

Tho I guess for a new game you can train yourself from start to use them.

I wouldn't trust that chart if I were you

Yea according to that chart my card would only run at very low settings. But I was playing at 30-45 fps during the beta on medium.

Yeah, I can play on medium or even high but it says low for the card nearest mine.

I will also be playing with a controller but will probably switch to mouse if I ever get into pvp.

Anyone else having issues with the launcher? When I launch it, it shows up for a second, then disappears completely and remains in the taskbar, but with no window visible.

I use the side buttons on my mouse for the heal ability. It's better than fat fingering that shit and popping another ability by mistake.

For an older gamer such as myself who did not grow up on MMOs, my muscle memory is completely antithetical to keyboard binding everything. For that reason, MMO mice with lots of buttons are more enticing.

So I mentioned this on the guild website but figured I'd pose the question here. How do people like playing with the Logitech G13? I've been thinking of picking one because I heard it makes you really, really, really good at games and improves your overall appeal to the opposite sex. Is this all true?

Seriously though, I'm looking for comfort reasons more-so than any '1337 pwnage'. Is it more comfortable than a KB? I've always had a problem with modifiers to be honest so kind of want something where I won't have to hit CTRL/SHIFT to do more actions.

Asking one last time. Most of the reviews and hands on deal with control and such, I'm looking more of a comfort thing.

I know that no mouse or KB will make me better, but having buttons near all my fingers makes it way easier just to play.

I played WoW with my Naga for a short sting. All my stance changes were on the keys but with the ability to macro I had stances macro'd into ability keybinds on the keyboard. Most of the buttons were for OH SHIT macros I had as a warrior /last stand /shield +1h, etc ...

I plan on using them for the 6-10 then the 1-5 most commonly used buttons. We'll see though, still kind of waiting on some feedback about some actual experience with GW2 itself and the G13.

The files that the GW setup thing downloaded.... where does it go? I remember the beta just running on it's own without any specified directory.

I've been using Microsoft Intellimouse Optical for ages. I really don't feel like I need more than the two extra side buttons on the left and right (and no worries about fat fingering with my thumb, which I feel is the least dexterous).

I have no trouble binding everything to the keyboard, and near the WASD homepoint. Coming from playing a Warlock in WoW, GW2 was a breeze to bind.

in the beta, I put the 7-10 on the zxcv keys, because it was easier for me, and put 6 on my mouse side button. Made things ten times easier for me.

(Assuming you have access to the 3-day headstart, and if you don't, why not?)

GAFGuild Mega-Awesome Pre-Launch Super-Countdown Festival of Hype Mumble Meet & Greet Event!

Here's another opportunity for everyone to hop on Mumble and get to know their future guildmates before launch. Even if you don't have a microphone, you can still participate since Mumble has a chat window. If you don't want to speak up, that's fine too; talking is not mandatory and you're welcome to just log in and listen (keep the creepy stalker breathing to a minimum though).

The event will begin on Friday, August 25th at Midnight (9PM on the 24th Pacific, 4am GMT) and run for 3 hours. At this point, the game launches and everyone officially has license to freak out. This event is strictly B.Y.O.K (Bring Your Own Kool-Aid). Please note that ArenaNet has stated they may start the game up to 3 hours early, so you might as well get on mumble and spam the Login button with the rest of us.

I'd recommend trying to find keybinds for look behind and about face (180 turn). They're both extremely useful in PvP.

In GW1 they were bound to z and x by default. I still don't see why GW2 leaves them unbound.
