Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

I don't intend to do that (when I do buy a G13), I just wanted to know if it was lefties-friendly. Since the device looks almost symmetrical, it'd be stupid to have to make a dedicated model for left-handed people.

Many if not most lefties use mice with their left hand. I'm not even a lefty and I'm doing that right now, to avoid stress injuries. A lefty would use the G13 on his/her right hand and mouse with left hand, therefore changing the thumbstick position is critical. :)

Aren't you forgetting about something? :D I was going to post for everyone to keep in mind these are kind of low-res pics with no dyes applied; armor always looks bad in these colors.

Yeah, I totally see why a person would want it to switch, I was just speaking directly related to him needing it to switch saying he wasn't left handed and was just clarifying.

I personally can't wait to get it. I'm surprised it took me this long to buy one honestly.

Yep, it's rather obvious. They're even probably in a jungle to enhance the effect further.

It's just a really interesting way to go with it, i love it. The early cultures of Latin America didn't get much further than stone tools prior to the Spanish colonization. So to essentially see stone-age architecture and culture, but then all of a sudden completely infused with magic and advanced technology, is a special kind of awesome.

Damn, last day to pre-purchase and get early access? Need to hit the bank lol.

I would kill for armors like these:

I hate spikes, demonic helms or fuckhuge armors that look like they're made for bears. I want my Guardians or Warriors to look like fucking knights. Same for the weapons, most of them look too baroque in my opinion.

God yes, I would love some normal looking armour, haha. I loved DAoC for this.

meh, it's been done before ;)

How convenient or unconvenient is it when you need to type stuff in the chat window?

Has there been a time set of when the servers will be open this weekend?
Pre-Purchase with 3-Day Headstart: Everyone who pre-purchased Guild Wars 2 will enjoy three full days of Headstart Access. The three-day Headstart Access will officially begin at 0:00 AM Pacific time (GMT -7:00) on August 25th. However, please note that in order to ensure that we’re fully prepared for that fateful hour we may bring servers online up to 3 hours prior. If you’re a player committed to getting in first to grab that character name of your dreams you’ll want to be keeping an eye on things during that time period.

Pre-Order with 1-Day Headstart: Those who pre-ordered Guild Wars 2 will be able to participate in one day of Headstart Access. The one-day Headstart Access will begin at 0:00 AM Pacific time (GMT -7:00) on August 27th.

For those players who have not pre-purchased or pre-ordered the game, Guild Wars 2 will officially launch at 0:00 AM Pacific time (GMT -7:00) on August 28th.

They were going to have a whole campaign set in a ancient Latin American setting but it got cancelled so they could work on Guild Wars 2.

About the rumors of a dude talking with a CM at Gamescom (http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/51308-gamescom-when-its-ready-authenticators-gvg/) :

Just want to jump on this before it gets out of hand. Pretty much nothing in this post is factually correct, I'm not sure where this information came from but flat out: it's misinformed at best and a lot of it totally false.

We'll absolutely have a GM team that helps support the game at live, the rest of it is partially incorrect information or just plain wrong. You'll start seeing information about our post-ship plans shortly (as early as today on some press sites) but it'll come from developers specifically.

See you in game on Thursday!

Does anyone remember if having your GW1 names reserved is still A Thing?

I dimly recall reading that somewhere that if your GW1/HoM account was linked, you automatically get your names reserved.

Not that I'm particularly worried about this, all but one of my GW1 names has three words that'll never be copied by anyone ever :P

So I got a refund from gw2.com with and they removed my key from my account.

I purchased the collectors edition from Amazon and they sent me a new key. Is that the key I will use to play the game, or will I get a new one in the box which I have to replace? I am guessing that the key I got is my valid key and will be used otherwise I have no idea how I would get a 3 day head start (The game needs to ship, etc)

I will be very upset. I want to see the GW2 artists take on the sprawling deserts of Elona.
I'm more interested in the GW2 take on Cantha. The oriental architecture, the Jade Sea, the dark forests of the Kurzick. Great setting.

Edit: As long as they stay away from the Shiro storyline that is, that was cheesy as hell. Going with the whole dragon theme, I'd like to see something relating to the celestials, kraken, and maybe a tie in of the Envoys to Zhaitan, you know, because of the whole death connection there.

I do wonder if we'll get to go to the other continents in any expansions, and whether or not they'll be as large as Tyria. I'd love to visit Cantha.

We should definately be able to. There are many unused asura gates in Lion's Arch and the Guild Wars universe has still much content left in it. Here is a good map of just how much of the world is in Guild Wars 2.

I want to see their take on the Jade Sea!
Jade Sea melted though.

I'd love to see Kaineng Center and the whole huge city thing they had going with the slums in GW:Factions. The GW1 engine rendered it badly, but seeing how they made Divinity's Reach, I think GW2 can make it justice.

From what I read, it's in the process of melting... but does that mean it's a sea of liquid jade now and not water?

I'm hoping we get clues in the game as to where they will be going next.

well, the undead corsairs in Orr prevent the passage by sea to Cantha. They're the minions of Zhaitan, the dragon of the Undead, who is also the main antagonist in GW2. So ... once Zhaitan has been slain, it should be possible to reach Cantha by ship again.

If they revisit Cantha I hope that it's in much better taste this time from the blatant stereotypes and caricature accents they had in Factions.

Wow, I didn't realize there was that little of the whole world to explore. Awesome! I just wonder how long it would take for them to make another continent. I mean, the environments are mostly hand-crafted, right?

Go to register.guildwars2.com and put in the new key right now. When they ask if you have a Guild Wars account, say yes and see if your email will work. If not, just make a new account with the email you used before.

And then we should see you on Friday/Saturday.

Weird when I do that. I get the message ...

Serial Code Overlap

The serial code has already been applied to your account.

I honestly do not remember adding that to my account but I guess it happened somehow. Should I assume by that message I am all set then?
