Breaking Bad - Season 5, Part 1 - Sundays on AMC

Gold.

I'd love to see Skyler become a meth-head, but this plan is just a little naive.

Seems like a fundamental misunderstanding of the series. The idea is to show that you can't just go batshit and break bad in life in such an extreme fashion without some dire and very permanent consequences to your actions, and that it's a one-way road. There's no redemptive arc to be found here, and there's no way for this show to keep going without Walt only continuing to sink deeper into the abyss. The only thing that remains to be seen is how many people he takes down with him before the end.

If Skyler were to become hooked on meth, it wouldn't change much of anything. Walt's defense mechanism is to rationalize every horrible thing that happens on his way to Empire-ville, and it would be the same there.

I'm not reading this thread to avoid spoilers but I'd appreciate the answer.

Is this season final? I like the series but it's very hard to watch. I'd persist if I knew that this season is final.

Not at all plausible. Especially when you consider that flexcuffs are made out of a more highly durable plastic.
Ah, i figured.
They wouldn't go with this ending because..
I see.
Oh it's not a problem for me, because i had the show spoilered some time ago (unfortunately) but you might want to rearrange that spoiler, this way there's no way of knowing what you're referring to, before uncovering it, and then it's too late. :P

This is the final season but it's split in two. The next block of eight episodes will air next summer.

This week was a big step up from "Dead Freight" which, with the exception of the last 15 minutes or so was probably the weakest episode of the series thus far, I thought. Great stuff in this one, specifically the crushingly awkward/hilarious dinner scene and the cold open (Edit: Forgot the Skylar and Marie talk. Despite what anyone here may say Anna Gunn has been absolutely fantastic this season. Amazing work on her part.) I kind of wish they had cut the part where Todd comes out to talk to Jesse from the end of that sequence, as I think it would have worked better as completely free of dialogue, but that's a pretty minor quibble. Liked how they returned to the issue of Gray Matter, seeing as how it seems to be at the root of Walt's current activities (or so he says). And lastly, I need to reiterate how fucking awful it is that this show isn't getting two, full 13 episode seasons. This split season bullshit is a travesty.

Team Walt is far and away the most fun team to be a part of. We'll see how long that holds up.

The big question is: does Vince Gilligan have the cojones to let Walt get away with it? Having him die or end up in prison is the easy way out, IMO. Letting Walt retire on Bora Bora with $300 million would take balls.
Well, killing him would be boring and an easy way out.
I'd like to see him succeed in some way, but realize that now he's alone and with nothing of value left (beside some money?) no loved ones, no friends, no one, just a sad, corrupted old cancerous man.

I hope he gets away with everything, but then the show ends similar to There Will Be Blood.

I think the most ballsy ending, so ballsy it would almost be a troll from Gilligan, would be to end the show completely happy. Let the final shot be Walt, Skyler and Walt Jr. sitting around the breakfast table on Walt's 53rd birthday. Flynn gets accepted into Harvard, Jesse goes back to school and gets a doctorate in chemistry, Mike gets a happy retirement with his grandchildren, Ted is dead, Lydia is dead, Hank kills Todd thinking that he's Heisenberg, and everyone is happy.

Somehow I don't think Vince Gilligan is courageous enough to go for this one though. :(

This is how the show would end if it were on ABC

Sorry guys.....

I couldn't think of a way to word it without giving away what show it was.

No worries, my own fault really.

Poor Ted :( Guys already crippled and you want him dead too.

Re: Skyler doing meth as a potential thread.

I think it's more likely that Walt Jr. might get involved in it, harking back to little rebellious scrapes like trying to get alcohol underage. It's a stretch, yes, but he has become increasingly angry at the current family situation and who knows where that's gone now in recent times.

this show. THIS SHOW.

I've been watching each episode at a local movie theater in Dallas (for free). It's always packed. Everyone is just silent throughout the episode. And then most of the people clap at the end. I've never seen that kind of atmosphere and reception for a tv show.

Wow, that would be pretty awesome.

So we got little kids getting brutally murdered, a bloody decomposed body falling through a ceiling, a guy's throat getting slit with blood shooting everywhere, and half a guy's face getting blown off, but they blur out "FUCK YOU".

mericuh

Yeah, i lol'd at that.

I've never understood clapping at the end of movies or whatever

It's not like there's anything there to receive your praise. It's a screen.

Eh.
