Ha. I didn't even remembred the wolf stuff. That was dumb.

And tbh, I would keep giving Loeb work, too. Spider-man: Blue, Daredevil: Yellow and The Long Halloween are that good. Enough to keep you around forever. BUT he should have a good editor telling him to get his shit straight and stick to the nice self-contained well-paced intimate storylines he knows instead of... doing whatever he's been doing.

he hasn't been doing any of that since his son died.

he hasnt been that good in a long time. and then theres fucking ultimatum. his ship has sailed.

This makes no sense .

Does it make it better if I say I was totally joking at the time? I mean, it would be CRAZY if the whole reason Scott was trying to help Hope was because he was grooming her to be Jean, but I was just joking around.

Also, LOL at that Wolverine thing. I mean like, WOW. How do they even get these really bad retcons approved?

And how is Spider-Man these days? I jumped ship after OMD/BND, but I've heard good things about Spider-Island/whateverthecrossoverwithultimatewas/Alpha. Is this any good?

It was the one two punch to the Ultimate Universe that was amazing. First he knocked the Ultimates clean out with that awful run, then for a finishing blow he fucked up EVERYTHING in the Ultimate universe.

Even Ultimate Spidey didn't really recover imo because Bendis glacial pace took so long to establish the Aunt May House for Young Heroes that by the time he had it was time to off Peter seemingly at random. Killing off pretty much all the X-Men was just bizarre too. Who knows what the Marvel eds were smoking to think any of that was a good idea. "AND THEN WOLVERINE HAS LIKE A SON, WHOSE BLOND AND IN HIGHSCHOOL!!!!"

It really depends, some people love it, others hate it. You don't hear as much hate as you do love though.

So for some god forsaken reason I'm still following Superman. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think it has to do with the fact that if I didn't I would spend the money on candy bars. Anyway the end of this chapter looks like it's going to be leading into a bit more of a fun take on the character instead of the boring shit it's been. Who am I kidding, but a guy can hope can't he?

In related news the .99cent Batman Beyond digital first thingy is getting real. I wonder if they've got the balls to do it, it'll probably end happy but part of me can't help but wonder.

The Ultimate line has always been the "alternate universe = anything goes" universe to me. Editors are less protective of it than the regular 616 'verse, so writers are less hesitant to throw sh*t at the wall and see what sticks, because at the end of the day it's all happening in an isolated and insignificant environment.

It's not so much that lots of characters got killed in Ultimatum, it's the way they got killed in a mean-spirited and torture pornesque way. The ones that got offed in more discreet ways got deaths that didn't make much sense considering their powers.

Well, I dropped the ultimates line when Gwen Stacy was randomly killed by carnage in the most not-dramatic way ever, as to remind us that a good comic book death is forever lost and our children will never know it. (also, ultimates 3, never got to the 3rd issue).

Batman volume 1, do it. I guess DC might collect all the cash grab bullshit tie in issues but they are entirely non essential fluff. I really hate these tie in events and how casual readers are suckered in to buying them. Tbh id prefer an old school crossover where you get 8 parts spread over all the titles and where you NEED to have all of them for the story (like the classic Contagion arc, or Knightfall). In the main Batman book the 'night' of the owls is barely a blip, it's not the real story. Possibly the only interesting one would be Nightwing's, and even that is pushing it since the execution was pretty pedestrian. Just read the Snyder stuff and enjoy a tight and exciting story. Trust me.
haven't read the snyder stuff myself, but want to - these the trades i'm looking for?:

Black Mirror
Gates of Gotham
Court of Owls
Night of the Owls (feb 19)
City of Owls (mar 26)

Black Mirror for sure. I thought it was fantastic. The Court of Owls stuff covers like 80% of Night of the Owls, so it's up to you if you want the extra stuff. I didn't find it to be critical.

Lol Johns, I thought you had more power brah for her to love GL. Louis and Jimmy Olsen shippers are off the walls right now. Feels good being one of 12,000 people to be buying GI Combat, shit will be worth something one day.

And if this motherfucker knows Johns is leaving Aquaman, why didn't he know Liefeld was leaving or already quit? Fucking spreading lies and ruining lives. Liefeld, Youngblood revival was fucking shit. Nothing extreme about, issue was just word bubbles about Q ratings, twitter and facebook. Extreme is not a word that should be tossed around lightly. Always been that way.

I dunno. I'm kind of bugged by Supes and Wondy. I hope it's just a kiss.

I don't really need that whole "Hey we had sex, remember?" kind of vibe to be in the Superman/Wonderwoman relationship dynamic. Sure it works for Bruce because he's not normal, he's legit fucked up. Superman doesn't fuck his teammates. He's above all of that. Part of why he's Superman.

I'm not articulating it properly, but I think it somehow diminishes him, where with Batman it's like, yeah he kind of sort of needs that, to show that side of himself, it's so novel. Superman is already all about the passion, and it's not about some contrived affair with ersatz Superwoman.

Then again, they've rebooted this old morass, and more specifically his old ass, so many times, with so many different personalities depending on who's writing the comic, I guess it doesn't really matter. It's just bad storytelling, so this thing better be worth it.

Azz on WWW on CBR

She's another breakout character from this book. She's so much fun. What about a Strife-centric standalone issue?

If I did something like that, the Wonder Woman fans would call for my head. They just want Wonder Woman in their book.

You don't say?

Its because you hold superman to a higher regard. Like some sort of moral compass. It feels wrong to imagine him with someone on his team. I agree with that notion.

Thanks, I've only read classic Batman (DKR, Year One, Killing Joke, etc.) and on Grant Morrison right now.

So Geoff brought back Steve Trevor and then killed him off just so he could hook supes up with wonder woman? and haha to all the people who didnt believe rick johnson when he leaked this shit out last year

Obviously Johns is doing the "Diana friendzones Steve at first because she's hot for Superman, but eventually realizes it's Steve she loved all along after her headline-grabbing romance turns sour" storyline. And Batman watches from the sidelines and says "I told you so," while blindly chasing bad girls because writers think that sh*t never gets old no matter how many times it happens.

*retch*

Wait so my thinking that the Ultimate ultimates is awesome is more a minority viewpoint?

Finished issues 10 and 11 of Justice League, i'm ready for a Superman/Wonder Woman baby to be made. Though...uh.....both Superman and Wonder Woman have little to no personality in Justice League, so i assume their baby will be a sugar cube, or at least a super cube.

Edit: Also not buying the "death" at the end of #11, though if it is real it was somewhat neatly done.

I stopped reading the Ultimate line around the time that Cable was future Wolverine. I seem to recall being told, going into the Ultimate Universe, that the idea was to have things less crazy-go-nuts than in the regular uni.

Also, their take on the Phoenix was waaaaaaay less awesome than regular Phoenix.

Really, I think it's best to say that I stopped reading the Ultimate Universe when I started reading Ultimate X-Men. Compared to Ultimate Spidey and Ultimates, the Ultimate X-Men were a sticky mess of stupid. Their Phoenix was worse, Nightcrawler was a psycho, the fanfiction.net relationship between Kitty Pride and Spidey, Scott and Logan were like, constantly trying to kill each other to get with Jean, etc. Did anything good ever come out of Ultimate X-Men? At least Ultimates brought us Samuel L. Fury.

And good stories though Grand Theft America whie fun is not as good as 1 and the current run.

Hank Pym beating his wife when read in ones mind as Nolan North is also pretty funny.

Not saying the Ultimate line hasn't produced gems, far from it. It's just that the editors probably aren't as worried about the long-term effects of a proposed storyline, because it's not the "real" Marvel Universe anyway.
Fair enough, I've only read Avengers Ultimate and none of the others.

Thanks, I've only read classic Batman (DKR, Year One, Killing Joke, etc.) and on Grant Morrison right now.

I only started reading comics a month ago, but I've been consuming as much Batman as humanly possible. I got a big pile of Morrison's stuff in the mail today, so I'm looking forward to digging into that.

I think I've read all Snyder's Batman work and enjoyed it immensely.

Roberson was supposed to finish a Fairest arc but since he said he was quitting DC, didn't they cancel his commitment entirely? Makes sense they do the same with Liefeld.

Indeed. It would fit the pattern.

I'm not sure how much I'd trust Liefeld if he ends up spreading a bunch of dirt about DC. From what I've read he does a lot of exaggerating and twisting things in order to make himself look better.

The same way he draws characters!

Thing is, Liefeld's far from the only one making noises about DC editorial being a total mess at this point, and... well, when there's smoke, there's fire.

Oh I know. I would probably believe him in the general sense, but I might not trust the specifics.

lol he tweeted about his departure from DC while watching The Expendables 2 at the theater.

That says a lot about the real reason he quit.

Last week my editor said " early on we had a lot of indie talent that weren't used to re-writes and changes..made it hard". Uh, no, it's you

His twitter is funny today

morrison is really out there, in a good way.

in case you or anyone else were confused on the trade order:

Batman and Son
The Black Glove
Batman R.I.P.
Batman & Robin: Batman Reborn
Batman & Robin: Batman vs. Robin
Time and the Batman
The Return of Bruce Wayne
Batman & Robin: Batman & Robin Must Die!
Batman Incorporated

took me a while to figure out since DC is too dumb to just put out a grant morrison batman anthology numbered #1-9

in case you or anyone else were confused on the trade order:

Sweet, thanks. I actually bought everything on that list except for Batman & Robin. I can't find the hardcovers for a decent price, so I guess I'll wait for Absolute in November.

Edit: Where does The Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul fit, and should I bother with it?

Inbetween Batman and Son & Black Glove but it's not important, only partially written by Grant Morrison, poopy, and the last issue is collected in another trade so you'd have to double up.
