I though it was Vinny messing about for a second and then saw it was real, freaked me out a bit.
TNT hasn't been great recently, I want them to go back to that local co-op stuff they tried out with Dead Island.

Is that room behind the set the control room or was that Gamespot people messing around?

I thought I saw a few people looking in when TNT started.

Yeah, they should have done one of those non-community TNTs where they all played with each other.

The local multiplayer games provide the best material for sure. Fortune City, Dead Island, and Cards Against Humanity are easily some of the best TNTs they've done.

I wonder if it's just their setup preventing them from co-op games that needs multiple machines or if there's another reason.

GREAT TNT TONIGHT.

I got to play on stream, on the map we won though I didn't get any items. That's the breaks in playing it on easy instead of advanced mode. There should have been twice as many tanks on the final wave.

When they have two games going at once, flipping between them, always provides the best TNT. They should try to do that more often.

Though, I have no clue what they'll do next week or the week after. It doesn't look like there is anything new multiplayer coming out other than Madden '13, which of course they ain't gonna play. Guild Wars 2 is out but I don't think that'd work for TNT, and a CS:GO TNT would be the worst thing in the world to watch. None of them like CS and 90% of it would be someone floating around in spectator cam dead waiting for rounds to finish.

They need to rename and reschedule TNT so that it's not every week and be more selective with the games.

Playing with the 'community' isn't something they should feel like they have to do - it might be great for the 5/6 people playing, but for the thousands watching it's just meh.

Strictly scheduled content has always been GB's weakest link as it's really obvious when they're not into it.

Spontaneous Giant Bomb is best Giant Bomb. Stick with great co-op/local games and if you're not in the mood to do a live show, don't.

They have done a Madden TNT before. TNT just needs to be scrapped at this point, it's reaching Happy Hour levels of disinterest.

I don't see why they don't do more local multiplayer games. What's the point of doing something where one person is playing and everyone else is just sitting on the couch and chatting a little bit?

Hopefully that means they do something a little different. Maybe local co-op or busting out some old stuff.

I just don't get why they actively avoid stuff they know everyone likes.

Endurance Runs? Nah, no more of those. TNT where it's just them playing each other locally? Nope, SHOOTERS WITH THE COMMUNITY.

I think the actual Giant Bomb community (as in, the people in the Giant Bomb forums and such) quite like the current TNT format, which I guess is why they stick with it?

NOTE: I could be wrong, they could hate it too.

I'd be really interested to see them explain how ERs come around. There is months of lag between them confirming one and it happening. Chrono Trigger was teased for a really long time.

I wonder if it's anything to do with the fact they literally hold no journalistic value at all. The site has a very heavy focus on the gonzo thing they were already doing at Gamespot, but the vast majority of what they still has the roots of being informative.

They had a reason for this, I think it was that it took a lot of time and sometimes people didn't want to do it. Maybe that was the reason, I don't remember.

They have been transparent about ERs. Basically, it's a massive time commitment so they can only happen during certain times of the year, and it has to be the "right" game with at least two enthusiastic backers willing to crank it out, which isn't something that can necessarily be planned; it just kinda has to come about naturally.

People in chat seemed to dislike it too. Not sure if that represents their community. I guess it's possible they were all hating this TNT and not the current TNT concept in general.

I think ERs would work better with smaller games, they don't have to be these 50+ hour RPGs.

Binary Domain with Jeff and Vinny would be great, for example, and they could finish it in a month if they played twice a week

Most people in the chat were being kinda twerps about it and raging at Will for not being hyper-informed about the minute details of TF2.

Yeah, if you think of it like that... the lack of Random PC Game, etc really becomes indefensible. I'm saying this as a subscriber who won't be re-upping this year. I know exactly what I want from GB and TNT certainly isn't it.

Eh. The problem with modern games is they're rarely as quirky as they need to be (which is why the Chrono Trigger ER was lacking, amongst... other reasons). Granted, Binary Domain has a unique flavour to it, but it is still shooting robots for a game, it doesn't have any of the weird and awkward conversations that Persona 4 and the best ER
Phantasmagoria
had.

But Phantasmagoria only goes to prove his point. That is indeed the best ER, and mostly because it only took a couple of hours.

I agree that they should try an ER of a shorter game. Definitely needs to be weird, quirky, janky, like Phantasmagoria.

The reasons in here are why the VJ version of the DP endurance run was great but the BR version was meh/ok despite the fact I love listening/watching Brad and Ryan. You could tell most episodes Brad and Ryan would have rather thrown their face through the tv than keep playing.

Also, Vinny. His personality is a must.

The perfect endurance run is Patrick and Vinny doing Nier. Patrick is open minded enough to enjoy it's often obtuse design, Vinny would probably really enjoy the story stuff, and it was handled by 8-4, so they could do a little cross promotion.

Like what?
He didn't know what the class updates actually did, he suggested attacking ubered medics, he said one of the best weapons in the game was worthless and you should use an awful base melee weapon instead, and he didn't understand what the tickets actually did in the new mode.

I wonder if they had a PC problem, because not playing a co-op mode with your org's media personalities strikes me as a little silly

I mean most of the funny shit in TNTs comes not as a result of playing the game but as a result of the people playing it communicating, having off-the-wall conversations, or planning to do stupid shit in-game.

Yeah I don't think I'm letting my subscription renew next month. Which is a damn shame. They seem to be losing touch of what people actually wanna see. If you can't even get excited for what you're putting out there, its dead on arrival for the people watching.

The "problem" with Giantbomb is that their content is very closely tied to the current state of the industry. They need crazy stuff like Gameroom, Kinect, 360 Galge and general excitement to be at the top of their game. Unfortunately the current gen has gone on for too long. There is no experimentation, every company puts out sequel #2-4 for their big franchise. We don't get pie in the sky ideas from Allard, Molyneux etc.
Giantbomb will bounce back once the big 3 start their bullshit train again to ramp up for next gen.

It really bugs me that the audience of Giant Bomb will so-quickly rip somebody to shreds based on them merely mentioning the term Endurance Run. It's a piece of content that they enjoy, and when has it ever been a good idea to crush conversation based on something that you enjoy? I can understand it must get old constantly being asked about Endurance Runs, hell I'm sure Springsteen still gets annoyed being yelled at to play Born to Run, but imagine if that when someone yelled that out in a concert that fan was violently beat to death? Well, maybe that's a bad example because that would be kind of awesome. I know that the dudes aren't directly responsible for this, but if they weren't so militant about it the fans wouldn't be.

That's true but that doesn't contribute to things like TNT being shooters with Ryan 3 weeks in a row. There are things they can do to fix that but they seem oblivious. The format needs to be them playing against each other. And I find it hard to believe that there isn't a game across video game history that 3 to 4 of them can play and have fun with for an hour and a half.
