Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

He didn't know what the class updates actually did, he suggested attacking ubered medics, he said one of the best weapons in the game was worthless and you should use an awful base melee weapon instead, and he didn't understand what the tickets actually did in the new mode.
It's almost like Will's job isn't covering video games and he only plays TF2 from time to time!

I wasn't saying otherwise, just finding it funny that the only guy they know who knows anything at all about TF2 doesn't know that much. Is poking fun at Will Smith now considered too mean in this thread?

I think TNT kind of died when they left the old offices. Even when they weren't into it, the random Whiskey crew members dropping in would at least lighten the mood a bit.

Feels like they're kind of hitting a wall with some of their content, hoping part 2 of the Olympic stream is good.

Everything giant bomb sucks after they left the first offices.

Shit they were better when they were still with gamespot.

Probably the best before that even.

"What have you been doing for the last 4 months?"
Make fun of his pronunciation, but Will just unleashed a burn upon GB that is scalding hot.

How would you guys feel about a Dark Souls PC TNT? Could be kinda fun. Maybe. Actually everyone would probably hate it except Vinny and Brad.

good, just have Vinny and Brad in it. i don't think it should be TNT. it should be a Friday show like Ryan's Olympiad. cuz Vinny loves Dark Souls so it would be appropriate.

I agree, and I enjoyed quite a bit of that content, though early on during the transition the content seems to be hurting from it.

Just like giantbomb. Say what you will of the quality of the content (which I still enjoy alot), but they seem to have a steady stream of original video coming, even if they haven't really been going for stuff outside of the usual wheelhouse like quick looks. Also their podcast is still amazing.

I mean, looking at tested, this week they have really little original video content, with only window 8, makerbot and the jamie podcast thingy.

The "problem" with Giantbomb is that their content is very closely tied to the current state of the industry. They need crazy stuff like Gameroom, Kinect, 360 Galge and general excitement to be at the top of their game. Unfortunately the current gen has gone on for too long. There is no experimentation, every company puts out sequel #2-4 for their big franchise. We don't get pie in the sky ideas from Allard, Molyneux etc.
Giantbomb will bounce back once the big 3 start their bullshit train again to ramp up for next gen.

I don't care about any of this (I can't stand bullshiters like Molyneux actually, and dislike it when people fall for baseless "potential" hype, e.g. Watchdogs or BioShock Infinite) and see nothing wrong with sequels in general (also you are fooling yourself if you think the next gen will provide an immediate shift in content). I just don't want to watch them play games unless there is a better hook than "the community gets to participate too". For example there is absolutely nothing worth seeing in them playing a competitive game (vs strangers), especially if it is a fighting game. Compare what they do with a fighting game versus something like a CrossCounter show. Huge disparity in quality. It is more than just skill, the people on CC are invested in the game and the mood feeds off it. Stuff like picking up old PC games to have their conversations to play off of? That is better.

It's kind of a shame but I think TNT hit the same problems Happy Hour had back when they were forced to do one every week. There just aren't enough interesting multiplayer and co-op games coming out and the ones that seem to come out look very similar.

A new Thursday show could help mix it up a little but with Fridays being subscriber day and all that there really isn't a reason to do that imo.

Losing the "supporting cast" is the problem. No Coonce, no interns, no Rorie, Alex is in NYC, Dave is now off doing the site stuff, Drew is doing other stuff, Will and Norm are gone. Alexis is still there but it takes more than just one additional person.

Half or more the funny stuff from the live events is stuff that bounced off of one of the above and then gained momentum.

Haha at NeoGAF invite getting turned down. It's like Ryan's swatting the GAF flies.

But Phantasmagoria only goes to prove his point. That is indeed the best ER, and mostly because it only took a couple of hours.

I agree that they should try an ER of a shorter game. Definitely needs to be weird, quirky, janky, like Phantasmagoria.

Brad and Vinny should play thru REmake on the GameCube or Wii.

I was listening to an old episode of the bombcast and Jeff talks about playing Phantasy Star II on xbla, and someone says "endurance run" in the background. I would totally watch that!

I think Descent may be the next one. A few weeks back Jeff was talking about getting them all running, and Ryan mentioned plaything through them all.

Then again, we're about to hit the busy period, so I doubt anything would happen until spring on that front.

I think we're thoroughly in tread water until the games come out territory right now.

Is Ryan genuinely good at any video games? If so he should play that for TNT. I would watch him play rockband or whatever as I feel his confidence would be fun to see. Ryan playing games which he doesn't know much about isn't that fun after the 10th time.

Assassin's Creed series is one of his best

Revelations had multiplayer right? The servers are still on so I vote for that for him to play as the next TNT.

Anything where all of them can display something about a game they actually enjoy.

Assassin's Creed multiplayer is, from my experience, fun to watch for about ten minutes.

But then again, that sounds like most TNTs and they usually have to come up with some weird framing for it anyway so hey.

they all love MK series and it's always fun to watch. of course, many dudes here will argue with me about it, lol

I guess AC multiplayer could be fun if they just fool around with parkour and such.

i could see them getting killed repeatedly and getting sullen, though.

they did AC Brotherhood TNT before, it's not archived in GB tho. i think it may still be in JustinTV. i joined that game. it was fun.

For TNT, perhaps this is the case. However, some of their best content still was in their tiny Sausalito office.

I hope they figure something out soon because it seems more people are getting impatient about it.

I think we all know the answer: Press Reset: The Giantbomb Story.

I'm usually off Thursday nights if they want to fly me up there. GAF X Giantbomb

relistening to the SNES party videos, and Jeff mentioned his "hall of fame" coming in the fall of 2011... that never happened. and ryan said that WUTANG had been in production for a while and that we would see the "fruits of their labor" in the fall of 2011 as well (which suggests that they actually shot stuff). and yet, nothing :(

That's another thing they did that was a home run only for them to never do again. The MK scrub league. That was one of the best things they did in all of 2011. How many scrub leagues have they done since then?

Ryan Davis seemingly hating TF2 didn't help.

As someone else said, content is shit if they're not into it. Enthusiasm (be it positive or negative) can make or break their content.

The hell is with all those comments in that article on Durante's Dark Souls' mod? Is it really worth arguing about?
