How's everyone's Sunday?

Solid. Had some family friends visit for the weekend and it was a pretty good time. On top of that I packed the majority of my stuff for the move back to school next week, so I'm sitting pretty and ahead of schedule for probably the 3rd time in my 19 years.

I got my 100% in Welcome Park, so it's the greatest Sunday ever.

Good man, I knew you had it in you.

Didn't do a damn thing this weekend other than work and be lazy. I've been on a steady decline in motivation and an increase in weight for several weeks now, bleah. Keep saying "oh, today is when I'll start fixing things" but it never happens.

I've had that happen to me, but once I was able to make a workout be another thing I did in my day, it became less of a chore and more of "job". But in a good way

Unfortunately, I've never been able to get into that mindset. Roughly three consecutive months was the longest I managed to stick to a diet and workout routine, and whatever results there were, it felt like a chore and a struggle every single day of that.

You sleep well and eat alright?

I still feel like this. The yoga class that I do has pretty much been the only time I've been at the gym and gone "This is fun!" and not "please kill me now". :( The workout buddy I had last year bailed on me after a couple weeks of going through a decent routine.

It's not possible for me to get the "right" amount of sleep while I'm still in school: up by 5am every morning, work immediately afterwards, home by a little before midnight if I'm lucky.

My eating habits are a mess these days. In the past, I've tried to do low cal or low carb, but have a lot of trouble sticking to either (when you spend 16 hours a day surrounded by food...) and if I can't find the drive to be exercising, I fall into the trap of eating whatever garbage comes along because, y'know, who gives a shit.

You clearly give a shit. You eant to change and The low carb thing totally can work of you can dedicate time and energy into it. You seem to be stuck in a unfortunate predicament but instead of trying diets, come up with some on your own.

It takes awhile to change habit and to see what works but dropping soda, eating more greens and less grease is kinda a mantra I've had. Also biking to/from work, how about that?

Stressful* and busy.
Brought home work from the office, so I went to bed at 5:30am (and woke up at noon). The only good and peaceful things were the rain and the mini-marathon of 30 Rock -> Community -> Cougar Town -> Happy Endings.

* Because of this, I have been eating a lot of junk food and pastries the last couple of days >_<

Its okay. Im not sure why, but a sad spell hit me about an hour ago. Been feeling really low since. :(

What triggered the spell? :(

i feel you. i gained like 10 pounds over the last year because of school and work. :\
thankfully, school is a limited time thing. best of luck getting it sorted out.

So, those of you who have been in emotionally and/or physically abusive relationships, how did you cope? Certainly you don't to answer here, but if you could, it would do me some good to hear that other people have gotten out and gotten over it. Until then, I'm just going to do what I can to get better because this relationship is not something I'm going to let myself sabotage.

i haven't, but i've had several friends who have been through this. Some have had a lot of trouble getting over it. What works really changes a lot from person to person. Therapy worked somewhat for some of them. It's one of those things that you have to really put an effort into it.

Just take things one day at a time. When they start thinking about these things, stop. Begin making a mental list all of the good things. sometimes, just to stop every day and count at least 3 good things that happened that day with their related things.

good luck!

Dropping the pop... er "soda" is the fucking hardest thing I've ever done and attempted. Its the worst shit to pump into your veins but god damn it im so addicted.

You can do it! I haven't had soda in over 5 years. Although soda always made me feel bloated, that was my reason for not drinking it anymore.

After two weeks, you won't even like it anymore. I still have some when I go to the movies, but that's it.

Ive stopped drinking it for months at a time but always end up coming back to it. Relapsing like a good addict does. I'll probably go back on my diet/exercise routine in september once school starts up. That means kicking the habit once again.

Try switching to "diet"-like sodas. Just as terribad for your body (caffeine, bad pH...) but at least they have no sugar.

You can also think about this image anytime you're craving for one:

I don't even remember when I stopped drinking soda, but now I think it looks disgusting. I should also say that sometimes when I go to the movies I buy a large soda... Popcorn doesn't taste that good without some sugary drink. :(

I'm glad I've never been a big fan of soda, even as a kid. I really only drink water and have some with me at all times in my stainless steel bottle. Sometimes I do use Crystal Lights, though; they're pretty damn good.

None of that matters when I see stuff like this, though: oh god yes

Haven't had soda in forever. I used to be majorly addicted too; like 4 or 5 cans a day or more. Decided one day I had to cut back if not quit. Tried to limit myself to 4 cans a day; then 3, then 2 and 1. Eventually I got down to half a can a day and realized that was stupid and just quit completely afterwards. Felt great health wise to replace all that soda with water.

I'm lucky I was started on diet soda when I was young, especially since I developed juvenile diabetes later on.

Man, I've been spending way too much time playing Guild Wars 2... (28 hours already!) A lot of fun, though. Anyone else getting it?

Even after dieting and eating healthy for long periods of time, I still crave the junk like mad; it never truly went away for me. Even though I felt healthier than ever before, my body just wants the sweet nectar of life: coke.

I think my bad habits kicked in when I was at a low point in my life. Eating food when i got depressed.

BTW: Diet Soda's taste like shit and give me headaches so I avoid them at all costs.

First day at that job I thought I wasn't gonna take... Wish me good luck¡¡¡¡

Good luck!

Ouch. Im fortunate I haven't had any early onset diabetes, but I also don't have a family history of it.

Every once in a while I crave a Diet Pepsi, but I gave up soda probably 4+ years ago now and I haven't looked back sense.

I am slowly weening myself off sweet tea by mixing unsweet with sweet tea, making it more and more unsweet each time. I stopped drinking a lot of water when I lived in my first apartment because I didn't have an ice maker and it was a pain in the ass to fill up ice trays. Now that I am in my new apartment, I drink a ton of water because I have all the ice I want.

I haven't had pop since I was 5 or 6, and I don't miss it (hate carbonation). Fruit juice was my go-to until a year and a half ago when I switched to water more frequently. In terms of 'bad' drinks, coffee is probably my biggest remaining vice.

I feel kind of guilty reading all these posts about soda... I drink about 1 liter a day (either coke or sparkling iced tea). I used to drink soda a lot more than that but then I got a kidney stone and lowered my consumption a bit. Mind you I also drink plenty of water during the day. But I love soda too much to stop >.>

Pfft. I drink Two Liters a day. Come at me, kidney stones.

I think I had one last month and I drink no where near that much. About one can a day if that. ;__;

Anyway watched J. Edgar. Anyone else seen it?

Same, I drink way too much coffee for myself. I'd like to quit but a day without coffee an I feel like shit.

Well there's plenty of reasons you can get kidney stones, it certainly isn't exclusively caused by high carbonated beverage consumption but it's a factor and it was so painful I'd rather reduce the risks a bit >.>

Just got out of the ER room after 8 hours. I might have testicular cancer or just a benign tumor. Hopefully it's the latter. I had to get an ultrasound only to find out the doctor wasn't there after I finished. They said come in later today to meet a doctor and he can give me a conclusive answer. I guess I'll find out tonight. :/

Testicular cancer is one of the most treatable cancers there are. I know this is a shitty thing to say but if you were to get cancer, you'd luck out if its testicular. Don't feel down, its okay to feel nervous. Cancer is a very scary word, I know. But if there is a chance that its benign, then that is great news.

Let us know how it goes, okay?

Since this is a once in a life-time chance to make this joke, I gotta get it out of the way:

(_)Issac slams Tom, tells DMPrince to suck his rain and take all his winds as he breaks down their levees.

I had a scare like that a while back. Found a lump and had to wait a while for an appointment and all that. I thought I was going to go crazy during the time I was waiting to find out. In the end it was a knot of the tubes near one of my testes and is benign, but I was so freaked out during that time. I think that was the most scared / freaked out I've ever been.

I hope things go well for you, you'll be in my thoughts. There are lots of things it could be that aren't harmful at all. Also, the ultrasound gel was cold and the ultrasound itself was crazy awkward.

Holy shit.

Hope all goes well... let us know.

I was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the end of May, had the surgery a few days later and started chemo August 6th. I'm actually sitting at the hospital doing my second treatment right now, out in an hour or so. Like Dany said, the cure rate is very high. At first, it's very scary but with support of friends and family, you will stay positive and strong. I'll pm you my Skype information. The greatest thing I had through all this is someone else to talk to that knew exactly what I was going through.

Haha!. I used to work with a really good-looking guy named Isaac, so the idea of Isaac slamming me isn't all that unpleasant, mmm..

This Isaac is just gonna trap me at work for a few days. Being away from HylianGreg is going to be the toughest part.

My thoughts/prayers/good vibes are with you. I went through my TC fight back in 1999. It's definitely beatable, and beating cancer can be a life-changer. Here's hoping that you caught it early.

I've read a few things suggesting that diet sodas/pop may be worse than regular ones. One was the simple suggestion that people think that having no sugar means they can have little bits elsewhere and overdo it. The other is that because the brain tastes sweetness it prepares to digest sugar that never comes that puts it in an odd state which screws with metabolism.

The best option is to switch to water. If that doesn't work, use carbonated water (NOT TONIC WATER) to water down the soda/pop.

Hardly the worst shit to put in your veins at all... I think, since I quit smoking I can quit other things that are really bad for me like soda. Willpower is the single most important factor and i'm developing at a rate faster than I ever imagined possibe.
