Don't worry. The Bendtner to Juve rumors are back. We could have Barca's midfield and it still wouldn't be enough. No striker, no party. We are already dead (in the group of death).

no way. I don't buy this. juve are going to rock the cl this season.
I really want to see a Bayern-Juve final. don't disappoint me juve-gaf

I'm happy, but we need a CM still.

I am pleased though. We've signed two amazing players in RVP and Kagawa. Amazed we managed that. The other signings are good too, I'm always pleased when we bring young players in. We've got Henriquez and Powell who are only 18 and they're two players I'm really looking forwards to seeing more of. We already have quite a few talented younger players at the club and I'm glad we've added to that, it's a cornerstone of the club.

Kagawa and Buttner are only 23 too so they are still relatively young players.

But we still need a CM...

I think if there's anything to take, it's that anything is possible with United. The Buttner signing came put of nowhere for example.

juve is definitely one of the favourites for the title. underestimating them would be the bigg mistake

i'm not underestimating them, but i'm not buying into the hype (yet). they were great last season but i think their season was a fluke. they arent THAT strong, sure they should contend for the title. but i dont think Bayern needs to fear them.

Juve are a stronger team than Chelsea.

I dont know, it looks like Chelsea did amazing in the transfer market and Harzard seems to be the real deal. Sure Di Matteo's mojo has to run out some time, but stranger things have happened

#javimartinez ist da. Eben vom Kollegen @sky_Torben bei Müllerwohlfahrt aufgespürt. Bienvenido!

WHAT

I'm not underestimating them, but Bayern are pretty much a complete team. Only Real / Barca / Chelsea / City are a threat imo. Sure historically Italian teams dont suit them very well, but i would be really disappointed if they couldnt manage a win and a draw against Juve.

Juve is way better than Chelsea or City. I think they're better than Real Madrid actually (if they sign a striker).

Wonder if we'll try butting in

We could use him but I don't think we'd get any players on loan without the intent on buying them and I doubt Afellay would move from Barcelona to Newcastle lol.

So yeah, bullshit muppetry from Spanish press...

Unless of course Barcelona were looking to sell him.

german papers are reporting schalke is interested too.
hopefully you guys get him

I think the CM signing is coming. We've basically strengthened everywhere else on the pitch. We have a new backup leftback, a new world class striker, an attacking midfielder and another promising 18 year old striker.

We have 4 strikers, 2 good keepers, wingers and 5 decent defenders (if they can ever stay fit).

There aren't many other places that need strengthening other than CM.
Yeah I'm thinking (hoping?) along the same line as this.

Fergie has acknowledged that we need to do something in CM but always with the caveat that it has to be a specific player, or the player that he wants, we can't have. Something along those lines.

So hopefully, next summer, it's going to be THE #1 priority as most other positions are starting to look stacked. My main hope for the next 4 days is that Nani stays. I'm really happy with the squad now. GK's are good, defence (when we get everyone back) is great and has a nice blend of youth in it, wingers as they are now are perfect and the strike force is phenomenal. Selling Nani will just create another shortage and another problem IMO.

CM is...manageable. If we get lucky and one of the players has a really good season and Carrick stays fit...we should hopefully get by, just.

Tbh though, the main thing I want from this season is exciting football. Of course if we win the league it won't matter...but I really want us to start playing good football again.

That's a pretty big if, they need a real scoring threat. I'll reconsider my opinion if they find someone before the transfer window closes. Maybe it's just me but i'm more afraid of a strong attacking team, than a defensive minded one. i mean the Euro proved what a difference a striker like Balotelli can make for a team like them.

And wow a medical around midnight, Bayern is awesome!

Our undefeated season was a fluke?

We aren't a defensive minded team by the way, we just really suck up front. But we create lots and lots of (wasted) chances.

Talking about flukes, Balotelli is one. Seen him have maybe 10 good games maximum ever.

Okay guys, I love you for saying it, but let's not go completely insane here. :D

Javi Martinez to Bayern is done? I've read something about tomorrow being M-Day.

And the process of Stewart Downing becoming the next Jordi Alba continues, from the Guardian:

Brendan Rodgers has warned Stewart Downing that the winger may have to convert to left-back to have any future at Liverpool, as the new manager continues to dismantle Kenny Dalglish's project.

Last summer Dalglish paid £20m for Downing, who has 34 England caps as an attacking wideman, with the 28-year-old a member of Roy Hodgson's Euro 2012 squad. Rodgers succeeded Dalglish in June and Downing becomes the latest player signed by the Scot to find his future at Anfield uncertain under the Northern Irishman.

Rodgers has indicated that Andy Carroll, also bought by Dalglish for a record £35m last summer, might be sold if a suitable offer is made. The England striker did not start either of Liverpool's opening two league games of the season.

Man I hope our CL draw is generous once again. We have a seriously horrid run of fixtures in the PL over the next couple of months and most of those games follow CL games and trips abroad.

If we end up with a tough group...we could be facing a real tough challenge early on this season.

The press has been waiting for the Bilbao-Munich flight since like 3 days ago, outside the airport.

Bayern said fuck them, and used the private jet, looks like he had his medical already!
hahaha

It was amazing tbh, what i meant is that it's not something that will be recreated easily. It might even be one of the greatest feats in European football. I respect Juve and want them to do well in the CL. I would even root for them against a team like City, PSG or Milan.

I just meant that i'd expect Bayern to do well against Juve, it has more to do with my optimism about the Bayern season than Juve's performance. If you had a guy like Gomez things might be different, but honestly i expect Bayern to score against any team in the world and that means the opponent has to outscore them. I just dont see Juve capable of doing that yet.

But well, knowing my luck, you can make fun of me and link back to this post in about 6-10weeks.

I imagine SAF would still sign any young players that show a lot of potential. But his main focus must surely be on midfield.

There really isn't anywhere else on the pitch that needs a big signing.

I think if we avoid Juventus and PSG in pot 3 and avoid Borussia Dortmund in pot 4 that we should have a great chance of advancing to the knockout stages again, even if we we get nobody in this transfer window.

Can Arsenal happen again?

Yeah, I'd take them. We're definately stronger than last year. Not sure it's the same with Arsenal, van Persie scored 3 against us.

Please tell me that's fake.

Müller-Wohlfahrt is an old man, why must they do a medical at almost 1am? Why is a journalist at his clinic at that time? Why do they hide Martinez, it's not like some normal dude would go to a doctor now. Also, every little detail of this transfer is known to the public, why even bother with a hidden medical so late?

I think everyone went insane at Bayern lol

Well congrats Bayern. And thanks, I was worried City would sign Martinez.

It's a massive fee, but who cares. Bayern can afford it so why not. Martinez is a brilliant player with loads of potential. Get excite.

A big signing could still be needed at LB, Buttner is still an unknown quantity but I'm hoping that pans out well and Evra turns into back-up.

Bar that I feel we're good in most areas bar the obvious.

I just saw something on Twitter about Bild reporting that VDV and Hamburg have agreed terms, is that true?

And there's not enough excitement about Stewart Downing playing as a wing back for my liking.

Yep better Bayern than City and then beat them in the group stages in the CL. Lol would be perfect.

Looks like he just had his medical and will fly now to Madrid to pay the 40M release clause to the LFP.

according to the agent ( I think) it's true. hamburg is now negotiating the transfer fee.
but who knows. hamburg is on a tight budget right now. I really doubt they can afford him.

Couldn't care less tbh. In an ideal world he'd be third choice in every position he's capable of playing

I honestly have no idea how well Juve would do against any of the current top European sides, especially without Conte on the bench. I guess we're going to find out soon. About time.

Maybe the try to hide him because they arent allowed to have him take the medical yet? I mean as of right now he's still a Athletic player. Guess Sky Sports ruined the surprise but i wonder if this will have any negative consequences...

Yeah, you're right.
But I can't blame Bayern to ask for a medical before paying 40M.
