Arsenal fans who think they won't miss anybody other than Cesc are just thinking about the first XI, IMO.

Cesc is properly special so it's damn hard to replace somebody like him. RVP, Nasri...they're good players but there are players out there just as good (though RVP last season was pretty insane). But that's besides the point, Arsenal's weakness isn't really their best XI, it's the squad.

When you have players like Cesc, Nasri, RVP...and then Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud backing them up, that's when you have a real shot of challenging.

There's no depth at all. How we relied on RVP last season shows that, and it's shocking for a top-tier team to rely solely on one player. Embarrassing really.

I hope that Giroud/Podolski will fill that void but I weep if this the rest of season will play out like the first two matches did.

He has been looking to join us for 2 months but we haven't paid up yet. Supposedly we're putting in a final bid this week so fingers crossed it goes through. In fact it should go through if Copenhagen beat Lille tomorrow.

How can Arsenal keep those players though. Nasri, RVP was down to money and sounds like it's the same with Walcott. Arsenal cannot afford to up wages to 150k+ for players especially ones that are not doing enough in the squad. RVP should have been offered a lot more than everyone else but I don't know the details of what happened in the end although it sounds like he just wanted a fat pay rise for the end of his career.

I agree that Arsenal's problem is with their squad. There are too many players that were bought in that are either shit, do fuck all, or a combination. What can they do though? Arsenal just don't have the financial backing to have 22 world class players in a squad like City and Chelsea.

He's pace, penetration, and purpose. Considering we played a 17 year old at the weekend in order to facilitate just that I'd say he fills a hole in our squad. We've yet to see what Assaidi is like.

Theo Walcott
Arsenal have expected Theo Walcott to sign a new contract all summer. A deal has been on the table for him since the clubs return from the pre-season tour of Asia, however, he still hasn't put pen to paper.

By all accounts, Theo Walcott is very happy at Arsenal and he wants to stay, the delay seems to be him wanting better terms. I'm told there has not been major interest in Theo all summer, and the club have been comfortable to let him take his time, however it has now dragged on with reports emerging he has refused a new deal.

Theo's representatives were at London Colney on Friday morning in contract talks with senior Arsenal officials. Both parties expected to come to a resolution and a deal was to be agreed/signed. However an agreement was not reached, and AFC were "disappointed" that Theo had not agreed. I'm told that this played a part in him being left on the bench for Sunday's match. When he came on he looked like a man who had things on his mind, ducking out of tackles and never extending himself. Looked ominous.

Today reports have emerged from the Times that Theo had refused a new deal at Arsenal. Whether that's them catching on to the news that no agreement was reached on Friday, or as a result of new talks, I can't confirm. However what we do know is it's getting seriously tight for a decision to be made. It's clear Arsenal won't let Theo run into his last year without signing, so a decision will be imminent; he will need to sign a new deal or be sold. He is happy at the club, and AW even said in his presser he wants to stay, so let's hope that happens.

For everyone worrying about transfers, I know it's not ideal but Arsenal signed 3 players on deadline day last year, so fear not.

I think he'd be a great wing back, especially considering how much territory we're likely to have in the opponents half, and how far up the left back plays. I'm a Downing defender myself, I think he gets too much shit. Would love to see him flourish as a wing back.

Common belief is that Rodgers system is set up so our DM slots in beside the centre backs and the full backs push way up the pitch. So they are very attacking fullbacks = wingbacks.

Are you misusing the term wingback or does Rodgers want to play a 3 man defense?

Perhaps I'm misusing the term but it was my assumption that you could play wing backs without having to have three central defenders. Rodgers has our 'fullbacks' training primarily with the attacking players, and treats them like attackers, so in that sense they're very much wing backs to me; they also take up a more advanced position than what's seen in a traditional back four, in a way that maximises the lines of diagonal pass for everyone on the pitch.

I think I am ready for it to be over. I would love for it to continue on for longer but I just don't want to see the show suffer over time and get drawn out long past its sell by date. Finish it off, cap it and let it be one of TV's greats

Walt is such a fucking scumbag. Is it wrong that I was rooting for Gus. Each week I jump between wanting Jesse to kill him, to skyler to Hank getting his man. Each week I feel worse for Sky, especially this season. But in the end I think I want Jesse to take him out. God help this show if Walter ends up getting Jesse.

Also when Jesse gave walt the watch I said "Oh no Jesse " I feel so bad for him.

Santos is shit and overweight. Clichy is error prone defensively, but an excellent crosser of the ball. Clichy moving for 7m is fine in a world where players like Enrique are moving for 7m also; I don't think anyone in their right mind thinks replacing Clichy with Santos + 2m remotely resembles a good deal.
