It took me most of the night, but I finished part 1 of the Fire Brigade. Ill take nicer pictures when I am actually done. Quite a few leftover pieces, don't think I missed anything (but who knows, Im sure something is off hah)

And now it is time for the best part of the entire set. Enjoy.

Grand Emporium is on the warehouse for $130. Just over 10% off, which is OK. I feel like that's stingy, but I guess they've always been that way, haha. I want it, bad, but I'd rather wait for double VIP instead I think...

Another very late night (4am here), but I just had so many ideas flowing through my head for my MOC, so I was striking while the iron was hot.

Finished off the first floor. Just need to add the interior details (outside of the wall bookcases), like a cash register and floor displays. But I learned a bit more about doing a spiral staircase after doing the Pet Shop. This feels more stable than my Cafe MOC staircase, and using less pieces to boot. It is all about that carefully placed brick on the wall with the vertical bar sticking out of it. So neat how that one brick makes the entire staircase incredibly stable.

But wait, there's a second floor! Again, I need interior details. I plan on adding a bunch of filled bookcases to it. I plan on the third floor being as close to identical except for the staircase. I have been trying to inventory specialty bricks to accomodate this plan. I am thinking of adding couches and tables to the top floor along with more wall bookcases. For the roof, I plan on having the shortest, simplest roof I have done. All my other MOCs have tall roofs instead of third floors because I was short on certain pieces and I liked the decorative roofs. I plan on getting the exterior done tomorrow, and most of the interior.

beautiful phonce :)

Thank you. I am REALLY feeling this one. Much more than the Corner Florist, Sweet Shop, or Blacktron Brewery. I think it has to do with suddenly having a deluge of good parts to use since I dismantled ALL the LOTR sets and the Friends sets I recently got. Having some more tools in the arsenal after doing a few MOCs and a bunch more builds since my first MOC certainly helps as well.

Great work, Phonc. Truly great work. It's impressive to see your skills improve with each MOC (I'm not saying any are bad! Just the opposite, but the details grow with each one).

As for the 3rd floor, that should be a Starbucks! Haha.

Starbucks would be SO good! Do it!

IIRC Phon's bookstore is on the corner next to his coffee shop. Not saying there shouldn't be a coffee shop on the 3rd floor. Maybe the coffee shop can be a Seattle's Best and the 3rd floor can be a Starbucks. Or just 2 Starbucks.

That is what I am debating about. Would seem like coffee shop overkill, but still realistic. Have a few ideas and will see what happens. Gotta get the exterior finished first.

Yeah, they'd be shorter shelves, a table in the middle, and... Lego! No kids' area is complete without Lego. :-P

Funny, because at my local bookstore, the tallest shelves are in the kids area. But it is definitely more colorful.

EDIT:

Public apology time. I had promised the Legoland Discovery Center tickets to Christian and Suplex back in June. I had lost the envelope with the tickets and have been scouring my apartment for them. I just found them today and have mailed them off to you two. I wanted to publicly state how sorry I am for the delay in it and not keeping you two in the loop. But look for them to show up in the mail soon.

Also, Ghostmind: Your Manbat figure is in the mail as well.

Sweeet! Digging the bookstore!

In LEGO news, apparently they are switching to a 5-digit numbering system for all sets starting in 2013. It's about time, as set numbers were starting to cross over part numbers, etc.

And it seems they are making a system to the numbering as well. With 10xxx sets being exclusives, etc. About time.

My son's birthday is coming up soon, and instead of doing the usual "loot bags" full of junk for his party, we will be giving the attendees each a sealed Series 7 CMF. Should be fun!

Third floor completed! I decided to go with more books, as there is already a coffee shop on the street. :) I had to use shorter 1x6 arch pieces for the third floor, so it is almost identical in construction to the second floor exterior.

Now to just figure out a good roof for it and then go for more interior details.

Hey, I don't know if anyone is still interested in replicating the mini LEGO Store set, but if you're looking for that hard-to-find 2x2 tile with the LEGO logo tampographed on them (as opposed to stickers), there are a couple of sets up at LEGO's online store that appear to have them.

Check out the business card holder and the pencil holder for said piece.

Oh sweet, I might have to pick one of those up. I've wanted one of those for my mini-modular Lego Store I made (keeping my Lego Store set sealed, haha).

Woohoo!!!!! So remember how I wrote about wanting Legoredo? Well, wouldn't you know, I see a listing on Craigslist pop-up and lo and behold it is pretty much every western set plus tons of space sets and castle sets. They are all complete and have instructions. Holy SHIT!!!!! Kismet methinks. Three huge rubbermaid tubs for $151. Just realized it included a complete 6991 SPace Monorail set!

Holy shit. That is an insane deal. I hate you.

Ps: if you happen to have one extra curve part of the monorail track I would love to take it off your hands. I have the most of the track except for one curve. It is annoying. I can't even make a short rail without that one piece.

I couldn't believe it man. I saw the listing but couldn;t make anything out really but when I got there my mind was blown. And once I'm done sorting and figuring everything out I'll let you know if there are any extra monorail pieces.
