Well, actually, it's shady as fuck. Bilbao doesn't want to sell which is their right to do so and Bayern are still doing crazy shit until they get him. At the moment, it looks like Rummenigge was on phone with the Spanish FA and made sure they don't have to pay taxes to buy him free. Sure, great for Bayern, but Bilbao gets fucked over very hard by everyone.
Not really.

Bilbao agreed to have that clause in his contract, they knew this could happen all along. Nobody is getting screwed. If anything Bilbao should just make life easier for everyone and accept the 40M. They won't because they simply refuse to play any part in releasing the player and if he is to go, they want the "blame" to lie with him.

Fair enough, I guess, but when they agreed to that clause they knew this could happen. Bayern aren't bullying anyone from what I can see. Bilbao refused the bid, and so they're taking the alternative steps. Bilbao are within the rights to reject, just as much as Martinez/Bayern are within their rights to trigger the clause themselves.

He cant be involved anyway as he wasn't registered in time.
Aye, I'm pretty glad too, would rather save him for the league.
Big shame that about Lucas. Only just got back too.

Allen will have to keep up his good start so far. Not sure he is a natural DM really, but he's good cover, better than Spearing anyway.
He'll be fine, he's very nippy.

We can land many of our targets, but we're refusing to pay what the clubs are asking.

So not only do we both wear black and white shirts but we're also tight arses in the transfer market!

WE ARE ONE!

Which is mind boggling really in Jojo's and Dzeko's case (both unavailable *now*), we were a few millions short of agreeing a deal... BUT NOOOO, LETS HAGGLE!

Exactly the same as us. Players are available but we always look to haggle. So frustrating!

Massive shame about Lucas. If we had the same options we from last season, our season would be over. Allen is hopefully sufficient though.

Shouldn't have tried playing him

Obviously I don't know what is really going on and what Marotta's actual modus operandi is, but everything we've heard and read suggests that we spent 40+ days chasing after RVP, basically ignoring everyone else in the process. That was a fatal error.

Would love if Berba went to Juve, he'd be perfect there with all the support he'd get from midfield.

Maybe United should try a "partnership deal" with them.

Jovetic's contract ends in June. If we signed him for €30m early in the transfer window you guys would have been up in arms about Marotta overspending for a player who we could, possibly, get for free in a year.

And, anyway, he's not the player we need. We need a pure ST.

I stand firm: Llorente, Dzeko. I would have also have been satisfied with Berbatov. But, if not, nobody; and we try in January when teams are desperate to cash in on a lot of players are only 6 months from contract expiry.

And if we don't get a striker I'm not blaming Marotta but the market and the state of calcio.

Anyway, I'm done talking about this.
I actually don't think we should have spent €30m on Jovetic. That price doesn't make any sense even accepting the ludcrious financial context of football in 2012 (thanks, oil billionaires!). I'm just saying if you're going to offer that much money, do it sooner rather than later. Don't haggle over this or any other price with the top clubs that are used to directors putting the money where their mouth is.

So many of Marotta's deals are complicated loans with right-to-buy or co-ownerships or amortizations, or other feats of financial gymnastics. I feel like he's not capable of just walking into a room with the directors of a big club and saying "here is close to the money you want, now let's talk about the details". He's still got a provincial, wheeler-dealer mentality, one that is fantastic at securing competitive prices on rising stars, or at least giving us a year to assess their worth before paying the full whack, but not at closing on established quality.

And if he's not going to secure a top player, he should stop promising to do it. Aguero, Dzeko, Van Persie, Llorente, Jovetic... we've missed out on all of them.

(I also don't think we necessarily need a "pure ST" or "prima punta", and think Italy's obsession with the necessity of one is a hindrance, but that's a whole other conversation.)

It's shady because you cannot temper with a player that has 3 yrs left on his contract and is under 28yrs old so why should we make it easy? We are not United, our market is pretty limited. Is the way we have always done it.

Also martinez flew to Germany last night without the club knowing or permission. All Bayern have been doing is talking every day about this trying to tense the cord to see if we would back off the 40m.

Pay up take the player and just shut the fuck up about it already and consider themselves lucky if we don't take them to the uefa.

This. Either put your money where your mouth is or shut the fuck up about wanting to sign a top striker. Sign Destro for 16M€, hope for the best and be done with it.

Newcastle United? I agree. We're made for each other.
Its already confirmed we're your feeder club, we give you all our top talent. Look at Obertan. He's become a world beater down the wings, we should have included a buy back clause in his contract.

City and De Rossi.

Words I have seen too much this summer and yet they still won't go away. We'll still be linked with him after his retirement.

I personally think he is Kermit.
You think? Kermit has gone very quiet on Twitter ever since RG started posting too. Maybe it is him.

On the first point - not sure I know the rulings here. Expand?

As for Bayern speaking publicly. I agree that is wrong they shouldn't really be doing that, but I don't think it's shady. As for the medical, true, it's against the rules but I understand it. There is no way they will trigger the clause before the knew the players health.

They might not be behaving perfectly...but I don't think it's shady or dodgy really.

I was talking about Juve. Not you guys. You guys are the bane of our existence!

There's an interesting clip of him in the latest Inside City which documents his recovery training. Pretty interesting.

He ticks the Australian box, the wanker box, the City fan box.

Huh? Why are you being personal?

come on his not like Urrutia didnt publicly talk about the transfer. Just yesterday he was quoted saying (http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3277...st-be-met-says-athletic?source=breakingnews):

"We have always said that a player can only leave the club on two conditions - either the club no longer wants the player or another club pays their buy-out clause, and neither of those conditions have been met," Urrutia told Canal Plus.

"We have done everything in our hands. They (Llorente and Martinez) are still Athletic players and we hope that they will remain with us.
