Torchlight II - Launching September 20th

lol at the release date whiners.

"THEY MISSED THEIR WINDOW"

Bitch, please. If it's a quality product and going for $20, why the fuck does it matter exactly when it comes out?

I loved the first one and I'm sure I'll love this one, but if my Guild Wars 2 habit hasn't died down by the 20th, I won't be in a rush to get this. I am completely sure it will be a fuck awesome game, but earlier in the summer when there weren't tons of new games coming would have been better.

EDIT: And I have Borderlands 2 already pre-ordered, so there's that.

Welp, I'll be busy with Borderlands 2. Already preordered but can't see this getting any playtime until October.

Yeah, the next few months are packed for me:

Currently playing: Darksiders 2 and Sleeping Dogs
Then on to: Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Durante Edition
September 21st: Borderlands 2
October 10th: Dishonored
November 21st: Hitman: Absolution
Late November (~23rd): Assassin's Creed III (Still waiting on Ubi to give the green light for PC DD pre-orders.)

I'll probably be able to squeeze some Torchlight 2 in-between Dishonored and Hitman/AC3.

Edit: Oh, and there's also Far Cry 3, which I keep misremembering as an early 2013 game; although I can't factor that into the above schedule until the inevitable announcement that the PC version will see a belated release.

Forget all that noise.

TL2 TAKES PRIORITY OVER EVERYTHING.

I'll get around to those 2nd rate games in 2013 when I get burnt out on TL2.

Its pretty much the only game I have any interest in at the moment besides The Walking Dead.

I had never played the first one when I got into the beta and that taste sold me on the game better than any other demo/beta that I can remember.

Im psyched.

It has to come out 2 days after the only other game I have been waiting on year on.

I will somehow find time to play both.

Glad I haven't jumped on the pre-order yet or I'd feel bad about it sitting in the backlog while I play the ever loving hell out of Borderlands 2.

Finally. Also, this will be forever remembered and laughed at:

Joystiq said:
Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer respectfully believes that a third Torchlight game could be out before Blizzard's Diablo 3 -- a joke we'd made when the second Torchlight was recently announced. The executive tells us that the efficient size of the Runic team, which has a corporate goal to never grow above 40, would have the ability to get out another significantly upgraded sequel before Blizzard's behemoth arrived. Torchlight and its sequel have both had brisk development cycles lasting less than a year.

Schaefer told us, "[Blizzard has] an impossible task. Blizzard can not get away with doing a Torchlight 1. If they put out a single player game, an RPG that's kinda stripped down for $20, people would say, 'What the hell happened to Blizzard?' They don't have that luxury. Everything has to be super epic. More epic than anything that's come before, more epic than World of Warcraft. They have to do that. It puts them in a really tough spot, I don't envy them. It has to be perfect."

Given his deadpan delivery on the subject, we wanted to make sure he was serious about Torchlight's third installment beating the Blizzard behemoth to market, "I really think we will, I'm not joking about it. I'll be the first to buy Diablo 3, I'm a huge fan. I just know what it's like over there."

Ah man, with GW2, Borderlands 2, and Pandaria, I just don't have the room for this anymore.

Will pick up when it hits $5 in a Steam sale for sure though.

Yuuuup. Scratch AC III from that list and it'S exactly my list...

Yes, finally it comes! It's about fucking time.

Also, many hearty laughs were had towards those calling for it to 'beat' Diablo 3. Your hateboners have become one of the internet's leading sources of comedy. One favor though. Keep them in the Diablo hate threads where they belong and don't polute other places with them. I'm guessing it's probably getting uncomfortable for the developers of the games you've chosen to vicariously 'defeat' Blizzard with.

I have a niggling feeling it's gonna be delayed again, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I doubt that's a possibility at this point. The delay "outrage" was over something that was technically never even concrete thus taking away the immediate obligation. However, now that it actually IS, I imagine delaying anything further is a scenario Runic is painfully aware they cannot let occur.

Man, I'm happy it's coming out, but I'm playing Guild Wars 2 now...

Oh well, I'm sure I'll get to it later this year.

"THEY MISSED THEIR WINDOW"

Bitch, please. If it's a quality product and going for $20, why the fuck does it matter exactly when it comes out?
Because time is often more important than money. Especially with games like these.

Just searched the forums and Runic has said no controller support. My dream of comfy couch dies again.
That's absolute bullshit IMO.

They are just holding it back for the inevitable console re-release.

I should probably cut them some slack though, it's not like they've delayed this game several times or anything.

Give me native pad support and I'm in -- any platform.

I played the 360 version and it controlled surprisingly... meh. Wasn't really impressed. Playing from the bed was nice though. I think the muted spell animations and particles, combined with the slight hitching when moving around ruined the experience for me. Sometimes it felt like attacks that should hit, ended up whiffing. And navigating the menus was like playing some kinda minigame that didn't make sense.

For me KB/Mouse is the only way to go here.

Also, woohoo release date! But now I gotta contend with Torchlight 2 and Borderlands 2 in the same timeframe. Oh no.

Praise Jesus finally... I really hope this managed to somewhat mend the wound D3 left in my soul.

The same week as Borderlands 2 and the Baldur's Gate remake. The games industry is truly impeccable at their ability to cannibalize their audience. You can't simultaneously highly value day/week 1 sales while shipping against peak competition.

Me and my friend decide not to buy Diablo 3 and wait for this game.
I hope it will be good.

I never play the first one, is there the same kind of loot than Diablo, i mean rare item, etc...

I have been assuming that this game has permadeath (like in TL1) and also co-op (new to TL2) is that correct? co-op with permadeath is my flavaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~

Two days after Borderlands 2.

Good job. Instead of releasing it a month or two after the reviled Diablo 3, you release it two days after another gigantically hyped loot game!
