New Multiplayer Halo 4 screenshots and video

Me thinks the issue is not with the textures, it's with the complete lack of anisotropic filtering. No AF can make even the best textures look like shite when viewed from an angle. Also, I believe every Halo game (actually, MOST console games) have lacked AF, have they not?

Not sure on most but many do lack AF. Reach has AF though.

what is this exactly? or, whats the current speculation. i have no fucking clue...

Looks amazing, great art direction.. I don't know how some can hate.

Of course raw SS's look a bit rough but you can tell that the graphics will look great because of the art direction in game. 343 has done an incredible job it seems..

A few bits of info from PAX goers:

- You can't drop the flag in CTF. Once you pick it up, you're seemingly stuck with it.
- Flag carriers have a waypoint marker over their head that's visible to both allies AND enemies.

wow at both. not sure how i feel about them. i think flag juggling is dumb, but dropping the flag to defend yourself properly will be missed. also, waypoint for all to see? eh....

Halo 3 and Reach had probably the worst maps in fps. Halo 1 remade maps on Reach kinda saved that game.

Here is how it goes

Halo CE: Pretty good
Halo 2: GOD LIKE!!!!
Halo 3: Pretty ok
Reach: WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT SWORDBASE WAS A GOOD IDEA!?!?!?!?

nah, armor abilites ruined what could have been good maps in halo reach, and halo 3 maps were great, but just couldn't compare to halo 2. I personally think halo 3 maps were better then halo 2, I'd rather play pit and guardian, and narrows, over beaver creek, lockout, and elongation. That said turf, warlock and gemini are my favorite halo 2 maps and not many seemed to enjoy those.

eh, to each his own but reach's remade CE maps taught me that my love for them was almost entirely based on rose tinted glasses. in other words, they kind of suck.

IMO, maps; halo 2 >> halo 3 >> halo ce > reach

I hated the fuck out of Halo 3's maps. The "competitive" symmetrical maps' (Pit, Narrows), boxy design made them vastly inferior to the circular symmetrical maps of Halo 2 (Middy, Sanc, Warlock) imo. Guardian ate your nades for breakfast and Construct was garbage in anything besides King.

I found it funny when he got the flag auto picked up in the middle of a fight

"WHAT?!"

Lmao

oh, its auto picked up now too? i was cracking up when he had rockets but still was engaging people with the pistol... but i guess you cant drop it.

digging the weapon skin. always thought it was pretty goofy in other games, but it works with halo's aesthetic.

I cant think of a decent map in Halo 3 outside of the pit. Guardian is lockout copy and they failed to copy their own map.

yeah reach maps were built with armor abilities in mind that's why they sucked. I hope they avoid the same mistake in Halo 4. i'm still very skeptical about them in 4.

Lockout, midship , ivory tower, headlong, sanctuary,Zanzibar, terminal were awesome!(I'd really LOVE a remake of terminal)

maps; halo ce>> halo 2 >> halo 3 > reach

fixed.

blood gulch? hang em high? damnation? fuck no to all of them. rat race? prisoner? chiron? lol.

actually, i think i prefer reach's maps to ce. i'd certainly rather play powerhouse, countdown, zealot and boardwalk to any of those.

I can't take you seriously.

Also, avatar quote.

I dislike the halo series, but this honestly looks really fucking awesome. I'd totally buy a 360 just for this if xbox live didnt cost 60 on top of it all =/

I hope think bring back the level system from Halo 3. I didn't feel like playing reach because it felt pointless.

Even the Halo 3 one was a mess. Halo 2's was an actual challenge before it turned into a shitshow. Still, when people were above 35 in Halo 2 you knew they were some hot shit.

I think there's 3 maps per Halo game that I like, to be honest. And it appears I like maps that others don't, I don't know.

Halo 1 - I liked Blood Gulch, Prisoner, eh... Hang Em High.
Halo 2 - you know what, I don't even remember Halo 2 maps.
Halo 3 - Valhalla, Last Resort, and (yes) Construct. I remember actively loathing pretty much every other map in the game.
Halo Reach - never touched MP.

By the end of this, I'm starting to remember a few Halo 2 maps. Outside of Terminal, Zanzibar, Coagulation, Sanctuary... can't say I liked that many of those. A lot of people like Lockout. Hate it.

Why did I do this. Now I'm mad about not having game filtering again. So many maps are just not fun. :/

Reaching legit level 42 before getting cheated to hell was really fun. Had an awesome slayer crew back then.

The game looks fantastic, both on the art side and from a gameplay standpoint. Great job, 343.

The DMR looks too dominating, though. Makes the BR seem relatively useless in comparison, so I hope Halo 4 doesn't devolve into DMR-only matches a few weeks after release. Nice to see the Beam Rifle back, and the trail it leaves seems really cool.
