Out of curiosity, why do a freemium game must be small in size ? Genuine question here, I don't follow IOS news too closely and I can't make a link between business model and size.

It's because freemium players are furrow-brow'd morons who can't use wifi or can't be trusted to remember about a game until they are. To purchase and download over 3G the game needs to be 50meg or under.

The monetization model for freemium games requires a lot of people. Very simply,

(number of people playing the game) * (some % of them will pay money) * (average purchase amount) = $ made

Developers want each of those factors to be as high as possible, because they result in more money. There are people who dont use wifi or their computer to download games. Therefore, if a developer makes an app more than 50 MB, they are restricting the number of people who can play their game.

Maybe Mario can shed some light on the number of people who fall into the 50 MB or under category. My understanding is it is more common outside of the USA.

Speed running Mikey Shorts with the virtual pad is a nightmare. I can barely make 3 stars on the later levels. Is there any way to use my Bluetooth keyboard to play? Or even a Wiimote or PS3 controller? I'm jail broken if it helps, on an iPad 2g

You can buy Blutrol off of Cydia, which I believe is $7. It allows you to configure a number of types of controllers (including Wiimotes, BT keyboards, and iCade) to work with most any game that has virtual buttons. It's easy to setup, too. You just take a screenshot of a screen of the gamewhich displays the virtual controls (ie not paused), and then open Blutrol. Within the Blutrol app, you create a profile for your game and assign it that screenshot, and then it's just as simple as dragging the button icons of your controller on top of the buttons in the screenshot. Resizing the joystick is also sometimes necessary.

It doesn't work with all games (for example, I can't quite get it to work with GTA Chinatown Wars), and it works better with games that have static dpads. And while it is pretty expensive, if you must think of it as the cost of a controller, it's not so hard to swallow.

Fart....cat? Here TWEWY is making serious inroads at giving a quality experience on IOS and then we have trash like Fart Cat permeate the store. People buy Gameloft games (me included in the past but no more!) and they are a garbage developer so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Can't wait to try out Middle Manage of Justice when I get home.

Guys, Hunters 2 is soooo damned good. You should buy it if you haven't yet. It might even be on sale still, but get it either way.

Hunters 1 too is in sale, already owning the 2, would people who played both suggest to buy first episode too or would be better to wait for the warhammer version?

It's okay, but there is a bug on ipad. The bus rescue missions don't work, so it's impossible to progress.
I'm playong on an iPad 1, and have progressed past a few bus missions.

I'm enjoying this game. It is certainly a bit buggy, and the graphics are pretty awful unless you zoom right out. But the battles, building up your base and training your heroes is pretty compulsive. The dialogues pretty funny too. Some of the battles are properly hard though, so I've spent a few too many coins on health items!

I decided to bite on Dragon Island Blue and have been VERY happy with it. It's a bit grindy, but it's definitely the Pokemon/Dragon Quest Monster game I was hoping it would be.

Yeah, it's not bad, ive been playing it a lot, there's no time restrictions like most similar games on iOS although the art and monster designs are pretty terrible but I keep playing it haha

My experience...last year I got Hunter Episode 1...liked it but a bit rough.
After 2 weeks other things came out in the AppStore so I lost interest.

Hunters 2...despite Bastion, Kingdom Rush and many other great games...I'm still playing it (70 hours and counting).

In my view, Hunters 1 is like the alpha of Hunters 2.
It's not that different, but the many little differences are really important to me.
The biggest one being in H2 there is an actual campaign that, despite being short, made me attached to the team and enjoy immensely the daily contracts.
Hunters 1 is just daily contracts...and for some reason I didn't felt attached to the characters.

So are the Walking Dead ios episodes going to be continued to be released one behind PSN/Steam/etc.? I'd really like to jump into the story spoiler thread but it seems like I might always be one episode behind. :(

Yeah, that will most likely going to be the case.

I managed to download it before it was pulled but I guess I'm going to wait until it's put back so I don't have to deal with any bugs.

I posted this in Middle Manager thread but here is an email I got back from Double Fine regarding the game:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but... the game wasn't supposed to go live. At all. We've since taken it down, but the build you had/have is pretty much our in progress "still have a ton of bugs to fix" version. We'll be releasing it when it's ready, but for now, that build is preeeeeety much borked so I'd advise just thinking of it as a little sneak peek you managed to get =)

It's worth noting that this weeks app of the week at Starbucks is Scribblenaughts Remix. Just pick up the card by where you pick up your drink or order is and it has a redemption code for a free copy.

The voice over...."Now it's personal."....this trailer hits so many cheese factors. Still, looks interesting. Is this like Infinity Blade or a 3rd person action game?

From the 1 second gameplay footage of the trailer, I'm assuming it's like Infinity Blade.
