Oh right, I forget about the plot sometimes.
It's easy to now that they make it so hard to figure out what it is.

Burn draw uncounterable spell seems reasonable.

Cannot be countered.
3 damage to target creature or player.
Draw 3 cards, then discard 2 cards at random.
I think saw mentioned somewhere that they are actually coming out with a novel for this block again. It's easy to now that they make it so hard to figure out what it is.

The syncopate art is abysmal.
Loxodon is okay, not interesting but very solid. If I make a G/W deck it'll probably be a 3-of in the 3CMC slot. The discard protection is just weird though. Was that really necessary? I would've taken Hexproof instead, or even lifelink.

I think it says a lot about me that I can't get excited at a 3CMC 4/4 uncounterable.A 3 mana uncounterable 4/4 is pretty nuts. The counterspell if awful though, dissipate only costs 3 and does the same thing except as a hard counter.
It looks too emo. Reminds me of the new emo dante.
That's true of every decent green 3 drop though >_>Keep in mind that with a mana dork you can have that 4/4 out on turn 2...
LOL I'm watching draft #5 of M13 by Conley Woods and he just Titanic Growthed a Fog Bank to kill something and was sad with the results... That was painful to watch.
Wow, I just lost over 3/4 of my binder by removing the scars block/m12 stuff that's rotating. I guess we know what block I was pack crazy on.
We already knew the locations and dates, but the formats for the Grand Prix's for early 2013 has been announced. Another Team one too.

Weren't we just talking about how dumb that guy is a few days ago?
Eh, with how much prices plummet usually, it feels pretty worthless to do this unless you're selling every rare you open for cash money the day of release and that's it. Look at any other set and the drastic drop in prices a month or so afterwards. I'm almost positive prices will be bad early like every set but will also cool down, especially with so many people opening packs if it is so highly desired.Alright, so I know neoGAF is smart enough to realize that buying booster boxes of new Magic sets is, unless you don't draft and can't stop yourself from opening 3.99 packs in person, pretty stupid.
I've seen a few posts on this thread stating that people have preordered, or are planning to preorder, cards in RTR.
You are getting less value with your preorders than you would be simply opening a box. Preorders are overpriced by a factor of two right now, and companies are laughing it all the way to the bank.
Let's look at just the rares in the set that are over $3.
abrupt decay (13.99)
hallowed fountain (14.99)
blood crypt (11.99)
chromatic lantern (4.99)
dreadbore (7.99)
lotleth troll (9.99)
mizzium mortars (3.99)
supreme verdict (5.99)
steam vents (14.99)
temple garden (11.99)
overgrown tomb (11.99)
These are SCG prices, which, for the first time in history, are being stocked en-masse at (or even below) the price these cards are ending at on ebay. We haven't even seen half the rares in the new set, and the value of these cards alone, not including dollar rares and bulk, is a completely absurd $113. That's from 11 of the 53 rares in the set; even if you value every other rare at SCG's bulk buy-price of 0.12, you're looking at $118 for a complete set of rares and rares alone.
Or an average of $2.23 in rares per pack, assuming you never open a single mythic, making some extremely conservative value predictions.
It doesn't take an economics degree to be able to tell that this is the most unsustainable preorder market in MTG history.
Let's factor in mythics and uncommons to make this even more hilarious:
Jace: 24.99
Isperia: 3.99
Jarad: 3.99
Niv-Mizzet: 9.99
Rakdos' Return: 14.99
Vraska: 39.99
Wurm: 3.99
Total: $102.
With one in every eight packs containing a mythic on average, that's still 0.85 in mythics a pack (102/15/8). That's in line with most full sets worth of mythics, and we still haven't even seen half of them. Naturally, this forces us to lower our EV for rares to 7/8 * 118, or around $1.95 a pack, raising the value of a pack to $2.80, or the value of an opened box to over $100!
We also have a TON of bomby uncommons in the set; the four spoiled charms and 1-drops are spoiling at $1+ each, for a total of $8, not counting anything else, as not much is spoiled. 8 * 3 / 60 still gives us 40 cents a pack in uncommons. You can completely disregard this, as the EV of a box is still $20 over the cost of a box if you consider the unspoiled cards in the set utterly worthless.
Conclusion: I have begun selling preorders.
Yup, that's why when I saw it last night I felt like I had to mention it. It just seemed to bring everything together.

Have they revealed the buy a box promo yet?
I wasn't telling people to open boxesI was pointing out that a normally terrible decision value-wise provides much better value than preordering.
Oh neat, coolstuffinc sells playsets of commons and uncommons. Any other sites do this? Also whats the best deal for booster boxes right now?
Preorders are always shitty.... Unless you want it right away they'll pretty much almost always drop in price, that why so many people here try to dump stuff at prerelease.
.
See that's just the thing; preorders aren't always shitty. Read my post, then go back and look at previous set preorders; they often fit with the average 85-90 dollar box value once the set has been -fully- spoiled. Half the set is $20 over that this time. It's not even slightly sustainable, and it IS unusual.
also, why are box pre-orders at 120 instead of 100?
ive never seen magic inflation this bad in my life.
I think this is people trying to get the new bonfire though
