The Voice is trash. Way below both Idol and X Factor. The Auditions are planned before hand and rigged. The talent pool is about 1 inch deep. .... and it has never produced even a mild industry success. Idols 6/7's place finishers have often sold better than the Voices winners. Its just a hipster Idol alternetative that people THINK they like just because they could never admit to liking Idol or X Factor (which is so strongly associated with idol).
The ONLY reason to watch the Voice is Christina's boobs.....this is coming from a gay man.

Lol, true. But at least X Factor UK has had Leona, One Direction, Cher Lloyd, etc. I don't think there's been any success coming out of The Voice franchise.

On a grander point, I think people should give these newer shows some slack. A lot of these shows that produced bankable stars did so at a time when the concept of the singing reality show was new ground. Truth is not even Idol can get a star to save its life these days - and its got this HUGE legacy behind it. So I think it's a little unrealistic to expect these rookie shows to do the same in 1 or 2 seasons when the singing competition genre is as saturated as it is.
That being said, I do think it's game on. I bet this round, more than any other, with all these genuine stars signing up to judge, every show is feeling the pressure to produce a pop star. The game is on, and whoever produces a modern hit act is going to have MAJOR bragging rights.

Haha, I'm just going by that UGGHHHHHH song I seem to hear on the radio all day long.
I think X Factor US has a good shot of finding a real bonafide popstar; moreso than the two other shows at least. Idol has lost that dream ever since its audience was taken over by decidedly uncool old people (and the last five winners can attest to that). And I think The Voice's concept is admirable but will also make it inherently harder for the show to produce a good popstar when the voting audience is specifically told to only vote for the one with the best voice- sometimes at the expense of the more entertaining contestants.
I think this season of the X Factor will be kind of a fresh start
to wash away the stench of Melanie Hewario

damn, so much Pop-GAF hate, like every other circle doesnt have lingo, in-jokes etc. god forbid they talk on a subject of Pop music, which even addresses them in the title.
and yeah, sales isn't a great measure of quality in many areas, but Popular Music? of course that'd be a factor...they're about having fun & stanning for their favorite divas, not half the stuff some of you guys list every other thread that doesn't even get played on my college radio station cause it sounds like dime-store radiohead.
they're good people, but some of ya'll won't see that cause you're acting like its Pony-GAF hijacking a topic about shakira sex tapes or something.

They get a bad rep because honestly.....90% of their "Discussion" barely qualifies and they have a reputation of going into perfectly good threads and trashing them with Gif spams and stupid pop memes. (that have not been as bad of late)
That said....generally I enjoy their antics. Probably because I am interested in most of the same things they are.

People complain when Pop Gaf shows up and posts Pop Gifs...in POP THREADS.
I have yet to see a thread where genuine discussion was sullied by Pop GAF more so than the posters bitching about Pop GAF.

EDIT: and lets not even GET STARTED on when threads get caught up in "which version has the best graphics? PS3, 360 or PC?" GIF wars. 10MB+ gifs that literally crash my browser.
