I know Sophie Turner (Sansa) from Game of Thrones, she lives like 10 minutes away from me and my sister went to the same school as her.

I've gone on the piss with Michael Fassbender a few times.

Here's us at this years IFTA Awards in Dublin

I just realized I listened to your podcast. I loved it, man. Is it still around? Have bought Road Home on your recommendation. Still have to see it, though.

Thanks for listening to my podcast, sadly I don't do it anymore as I only did the podcast to help pass the time when I was recovering from a back injury.

Do you mean the Chinese film "The Road Home"? directed by Zhang Yimou and has Zhang Ziyi in her first staring role?

I am friends with/hang out:

DC/Marvel/Top Cow artist

EA PR Director

Fox sitcom star.

You not doing the podcast anymore hopefully means you've fully recoverd by now!
I really, really enjoyed it. Was one of my favorites. If you ever try setting up a new one, let me know.

Yup. I meant the Chinese film. You said it was the best film ever.

Thanks for the kind words about the podcast, sadly it's not even on iTunes anymore.

I do plan to put it back on iTunes, but it will be a few months, probably in the new year.

The Road Home is my favorite film, and is something I wish more people would watch.

Pretty Meh for me

My brother works in the building Kyle Chandler lives and has spoken to him a few times.
Sammy Sosas brother tried to buy food from me when I worked concessions at Wrigley.

I was not being literal with "celebrity worship" I apologize for not clarifying.
How is it a "gimmick" to answer his question by saying no, and that I do not really lust to know a celebrity because I do not place them above the common man?

Now you might claim they deserve their wealth and are superior to everyone and what not... Society pretty much validates that belief but it is my belief that they are not and it is just my opinion which is pretty irrelevant and does not matter anyone.

But why does lust and (I know you misused this but still) worship come into play at all? Just about every story here is all about happenstance. "My father knew this person", "I was at a party once with such and such", "I met so and so once". There's no "lusting". There haven't been any stories where someone hid in the bushes until the celeb came out of their home so they could jump them and invite them out to lunch. Barely anyone is even overtly bragging.

It's a "gimmick" to answer the way you did because it was a simple question. He didn't ask "what celebs would you like to know." If that were the case then yea, you're answer would be completely valid. But you came in here and tried to turn it into a thing. You did the same in the Obama thread.

PS. Celebs do, for the most part, deserve their wealth and I hate it when people argue otherwise.

I wouldn't really say "know" but when I was in high school, I had more than a few run ins with a famous couple. The first meeting went something like this:

My friend Chris and I were in his garage trying to repair his Burger Time arcade cabinet. I knew his parents were going out to dinner with some friends named Dan and Donna, but had absolutely no reason to think anything of it. Well, we're working away, I hear a car pull up and people get out (the garage door was closed) and soon after Chris' Mom yells to Chris to bring me inside so I can meet them. I'm immediately thinking its a bit weird because I'm just a friend of their son and why do I care about their dinner partners?

Well, I round the corner and there was Dan Aykroyd and Donna Dixon. My jaw hit the floor. I talked with them for about 20 minutes before they left and met them at Chris' house several times after that until I moved away. Really cool people. Apparently, Donna Dixon grew up in the area and before she was famous, she babysat Chris when he was a wee lad and they all just kept in touch throughout the years. That's how his family knew them.

Seriously! how was Dan ?

As cool as you'd expect him to be. I'm 38, so this was a while ago and when he was still pretty much in his prime, so it was an epic meeting. That man has got some amazing stories. I could sit and talk to him for hours, but I never got that much time with him. Anytime I'd be over when they came, he'd only stay for about 20-30 minutes and I didn't want to be THAT kid.

I never actually met them but Alexis Sanchez (Barcelona player) and Junior Fernandes (Bayer Leverkusen player) played in my hometown team. I actually lived really close to the house Alexis' stayed for 4-5 years before departing for Santiago; when my family moved, the new house was close to Junior's house.

Also, a very good friend of mine who was our school's goalkepper once stopped a penalty by Alexis, back in 2004-ish. Alexis wasn't really famous yet, he would be promoted to the first team the following year.

Are you like a first year philosophy student?

I've met Jon Hamm enough through mutual events in St. Louis that he at least knows who I am.

Not that it really means anything, don't really count "knowing" unless they're in your phones contact list.

Nice thread.

Will check back again in 48 hours, when people start badmouthing their/other celebrity friends/relatives because of the lack of own fame.

My buddy's father is Andreas Katsulas, the one-armed-man from The Fugitive and G'Kar from Babylon 5.

Super nice guy. RIP

I'm friends with Andrew Dost, the piano player in Fun.

I went to high school with Joe Smith, a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians.

I know Taylor Swift's bassist.

And I'm acquaintances with a ton of people in semi famous bands.

My first cousin is someone NeoGAF has been insulting for the last few years. It burns at my very soul, but I steer clear of posting in those threads.

How is the guy?

Very different from how he acts in TV.
More the shy and quiet guy.

I think it is because everybody expects from him that acts like he does in tv.
One thing i really like about him, that he

1. never talks about his work ( except when you ask him
2. tries to keep out his family in public ( not like other stars who bring their hole family to all events)
3. despite of his huuuuuuuuuuuuuge amount of money he should have is very down-to-earth

Are you undermining your own opinion? It just seems like you're installing this social hierarchy stuff into a lot of your posts lately, but whatever. I suppose I understand what you're saying. Of course society considers them superior because they're famous, but remember that they're not famous because they are superior if that makes you feel better. :)

Well society considers them vastly superior than me and many other people. Personally i do not elevate them but it is sort of factual that they are given superiority. I am just stating my opinion is pretty irrelevant and that it was added to fill my post out because people accuse me of being someone who is trying to be smart or whatever and I never made that claim. (like the philosophy student accusation and various other accusations).

I answered the question and then added that I really do not wish to meet any celebrities either. It was additional irrelevant information but I utilized it to make sure my post was not just saying "nope" and explaining I do not lament the fact (because people accuse me of whining).
I do not know, I can understand them being somewhat well off but it is my personal opinion that they do not deserve their wealth. I know it makes economic sense but I will not agree they deserve that much money and I do not think it needs to be discussed further in this thread because it would derail the thread.

One of my cousin's is a DJ in Toronto (not sure if he still is anymore).

I had a High School Media Arts teacher who did storyboards for cartoons (Wayside and Pig City come to mind).

My first cousin is someone NeoGAF has been insulting for the last few years. It burns at my very soul, but I steer clear of posting in those threads.

My top 3 guesses:

Michael Bay...

actually that's my only guess. There are plenty of people that GAF insults on a regular basis but not many get their own threads.

I love that most people in this thread are mentioning famous people who they have some vague relationship with (friend's friend aunt neighbour, or 2nd/3rd cousin) but don't actually know.

Don't anybody, but for hispanic-gaf,

The manager for Juan Luis Guerra back in his old glory days with the 440 group, used to live in the 4th floor of my building. My parents went to their launch party back in the day.

My dad also does the A/C service for Sammy Sosa. Says he's a cool guy.

I used to sing karaoke with the guy that played Al Pacino's brother in Scarface. Good sense of humor, even when I trolled him and signed him up to sing "Push it to the Limit."

Also went to high school with the kid that tries to by weed off of Jay and Silent Bob in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Know Charlie Gilmour a little, the son of David Gilmour, Pink Floyd guitarist. Recently went to jail for swinging on the cenotaph; photo was in all the papers. He got brain damage when he fell.
