I'm going to go ahead and spoil it. The flash forward was actually just an excerpt from when Walt does an episode of Undercover Boss. He buys a bunch of Denny's restaurants to use for distribution. Word is getting around that the food isn't very good, and he doesn't want the FDA snooping around.

He wants to not only figure out why the business isn't where it should be, but he also wants to see why morale is so low with the employees. There will be one employee with a medical issue and he will pay for all the medical expenses. Another employee will want to be a manager and he'll pay for that person to go to a management training program. In the end, he will develop a new respect for the people who make his business run and he will also fine tune his meth distribution.

Dude, tag that shit.

Holy shit, isn't that amazing?

Decided to finally give Breaking Bad a whirl. Watched the pilot on September 1. 10 days later, on September 10, I have just finished 5.08. I am fucking exhausted, lol. But needless to say, I love the show.

you are now a member of the elite. Unless you disliked Fly. Then you are a member of the inferior elite.

But still elite!!

You fool. You should have planned it our for the rest of the year!

You have a year to wait!

2 things, both pertaining to Walt/Jesse that I wonder (read: hope) will be revisited: Walt letting Jane die and Walt poisoning Brock. Jesse needs to find out once and for all what kind of a scumbag Walt is. Worse than Gus perhaps. Also, the poison Walt still has in his bathroom, which is what I thought Hank was going to stumble upon instead of the Walt Whitman book.

Also, for all the (greatly deserved) praise Cranston gets, Aaron Paul is the revelation of this show for me. I really didn't like him or the character in S1, but then the character got fleshed out so much and Paul grew exponentially as an actor, to the extent that I thought he was the best part of S4 and S5.

But he's barely in S5... I miss me some Jesse story arcs.

Jesse was supposed to die at the end of season 1 before Gilligan decided to keep him around, so you can tell they started elevating his character from there.

Also I'm of the belief that it doesn't matter if Jesse finds out about Brock and Jane. IMO if he finds out it's almost TOO easy. I think it's just as effective if we know these things and he doesn't. But I won't be mad if he does find out SOMEHOW. Could be epic. I'm rooting for their bro-ship to the end though.

Final thought of the evening is that Walter White makes Don Draper look like a patron saint :lol

Now I need some sleep. BB overdose.

Something that I've been wondering:

Is this shit even possible? lol. I mean, getting half your face completely blown and still be fully conscious for 15-20 seconds after that.

It is if you're goddamn Gus.
(I dunno, probably not, but for a character as mythic as Gus an ending like that was kind of necessary)

Dude, I did the same thing to catch up to season 4. Well done. I'll tell you this though, the withdrawal will be brutal.

What do you think of the side characters like Saul, Mike...Skylar? Etc. I love hearing your opinions on stuff as your views are similar to my own AND you know what's up with that disappointment called LOST. Ah, and yes, your feelings on Fly please. Kinda wish you had blogged about the episodes as you watched, it's always fun to watch someone new get into Breaking Bad.

I think I'm gonna do a rewatch. Should be a nice contrast to Arrested Development :-)

Likely? No not really.

Possible? Yeah. The human body can withstand some crazy ass shit, if only momentarily. Muscle memory and shock can account for a lot.

I doubt it's possible but who knows. It was done on purpose though, regardless. Gus has always had a supernatural-ness to him, and they felt it was the perfect, tidy exit. And I agree 100%.

That scene almost ruined the finale for me. They should have ended it with Gus screaming and then after the explosion use that same shot of the doorway but without Gus walking out.

My man! I can finally call you BITCH with you understanding it's full context.

I agree. It was a little too silly for the show. Fan service-y even.
was it too out there though? An episode earlier he had spidey sense.

Like Gilligan explained at one point. Gus has always been a bit of a mythical figure. Mysterious past, all powerful, all knowing, genius, calm, tidy. I could see why some people found it weird, but in the context of the show and the character itself, I thought it fit well.
