Well, you have proper tablet optimized apps as opposed to the lame phone ui-stretched apps that you find on android tablets.

Yeah the apps for the iPad are fine for the most part.

I'm more so talking about the device menus/UI. Apple basically copy and pasted from the iPhone without adjusting the size. Looks so stupid to me.

It's part of the reason why I don't have an iPad.

I'm hyped for this. I wonder if there are gonna be any epic surprises with the new phone. We are all already expecting a new screen size.

In one of the other threads people laughed and called some of us dumb for saying there was a good chance Apple would call the new iphone the iPhone 5. Now, there is a 5 in that teaser? LOL.

Still doesn't mean it will be called "iPhone 5"

The convention could celebrate 5 years of the iPhone brand... showing/celebrating iPhone sales from the past 5 years and then topping it off with the unveiling of "The New iPhone" :)

I guess I'm in the minority... Apple's usually more clever with their invites. Don't think the 5 = "iPhone 5". I might be wrong though of course.

Just saw this picture on macrumors. Nice comparison:

Gosh I hope the iPad mini is competitively priced, I'd love to get one if I can get it around $249-$299. Never thought I'd see the day where I'm excited about a an Apple product.

Screw this "iPad + Android phone = the best of both worlds" nonsense.

iPhone + iPad = the best of the best world.

Plan for me was to get iPhone 5 + Nexus 7, but I've gotta wait to see what this new iPad is gonna be about.

So you mean the home screen/icon grid, right? Because otherwise I wouldn't necessarily say that's true. Nothing else is really a copy and has been adjusted in some way to the format. Now that I've had a chance to use one the iPad has a very distinct 'feel' to it.

Edit: vvv

Yeah I'd say the notifications are the real offender for sure. The icon grid scales so well it really doesn't bother me, but the notification drop down actually looks undersized and out of place.

Still, if that's the hang up I think you'd probably get past it pretty quick. That's probably why the home screen doesn't bother me so much, as I spend do little time with it. Everything else is usually formatted for the tablet.

Im still thinking it might be just "The new iPhone" and ditch the numbering. But some people were laughing at me while claiming "iPhone 6" as the most logical choice....

My predictions for the keynote:

Everyone on the internet will be massively disappointed, feign self righteous outrage, and proclaim the fall of Apple.

Everyone in real life (ie. non neckbearded basement dwelling tech geeks) will love the phone and buy the living shit out of it making it the most popular and best selling phone in history.

Christ you never give it up do you. It's just a phone.

My name prediction:

-iPhone 5 is the obvious, boring answer (due to the invitation). So, nope.

-I also don't think it'll be iPhone 4G since, at least according to Apple and AT&T, the 4S is already "4G".

-iPhone 6... I don't have a good reason, but no. I don't see Apple going back to just numbers. Yet.

So my prediction will be:

The New iPhone

The Phone®.

That would be so funny.

"After 5 years of the iPhone, we feel that the brand has become unanimous with phones period. Therefore we are calling this new device... the phone."

Geeks on the Internet: "How dare they call it the phone! Can Apple be anymore cocky?!?! So disgusting."

Then Apple will sue companies using "phone" lol.

I love how Samsung creates ads mocking the uniformity of Apple stores when they 100% copied Apple for their own retail outlets.

I wonder if upgrading to iOS 6 on Wednesday will make my iPhone 4 not be a total piece of shit anymore? Or will it just make it worse.

As of now the texting app, the TEXTING APP, constantly crashes. It either won't load at all, or it'll load but freeze and then kick me to the home screen, or it'll load and I'll start typing a text and the keyboard will type a few letters and then hang for 20-30 seconds before letting me type again. It's infuriating. I've tried restoring, I've tried rebooting, nothing seems to work.

Hopefully iOS 6 will fix my phone for the next two weeks before iPhone 5avior comes out.

Sonny Dickson has photos of iPad Mini mockups (they're real mockups, but not real iPads):

Yep. I would definitely replace my iPad 2 with a 7" iPad mini. I mean I love my iPad, but I just love how much easier it is to carry a 7" vs. a 10". As long as it's the same resolution I will probably get one day one. Then again there's always the iPad 4. I assume the iPad mini 1 would be equivalent to an iPad 3. The iPad 4 will come out in March and the iPad mini 2 would come along equalling an iPad 4. But when would they sync up the two lines? They can't keep doing March = 10", September/October = 7". Would make more sense to eventually align them to the same release schedule.

Anyways. One more day after today. Cannot wait. Even though I won't be getting the 5 most likely. I mean I invested $650 in this 4S willingly and knowingly, I should probably get at least a year or two use out of it before upgrading. (Prepaid has its advantages. And its disadvantages.) Unless I sell it to someone, but I'd really rather not screw around with auction sites and personal ads. My 4S is great. The 5 will have to be soooo magical in just the right way for me to replace this so soon.
Unfortunately it probably will be. But if I'm lucky I can convince myself to wait until at least next September's iPhone 5S/6 release.
