I really never noticed this, to be honest. I mean, I didn't really know Himuro was a "troublemaker" as far as moderation history goes until after I saw his ban history. I didn't even know that PD got banned a lot, or at least used to, which should tell anyone who does pay attention how little attention I paid to which users tended to catch a lot of short bans.

But I always liked Himuro and he always seemed friendly towards me when we talked in topics. I was actually surprised when I saw someone linking to the Koshiba-related posts because I wouldn't really have expected it from him.

Holy shit, tag fishing threads are actual things?! I thought it was just a name given to a thread which was particularly epic for whatever reason. How often do they happen? I don't know if I'd partake in one though. Would feel much better to earn your stripes.

I've communicated with Himu for a few years now on various internet forums, Facebook, IM etc. and never once have I seen anything out of him indicating he is a misogynist or a MRA or what have you. He's also not a shut-in nerd by any means - always mentioning his weekend plans - he seems to have quite the active social life and has dated a lot. Shame that he left GAF since I felt he was a good contributor to the site and also a shame that Koshiba bore the brunt of his account suicide.

I didn't really know Koshiba all that well but it always seemed to me that she had some serious emotional problems that she needed to work through and was using GAF as an escape from her problems - I'm hoping for her sake that in her leave from GAF she has been working towards her issues.

I just learned how to work with .srt files. Cool. Normally don't do this. Movie only available in Czech Republic, and with no subtitles (but in Blu-Ray!). Will buy if released here. Hopefully, admitting this, I haven't earned my own ban!

I'll let you know if the movie is any good.
 
Can't really make out the name of the actress that well, what is it? Hot Czech women are very pertinent to my interests...
 
I'm fond of people who think our rules make this forum "boring." Typically, this refers to people who want to post hot women, curse and belittle each other like frat boys, or generally use vulgar, mean spirited language.

This where I got my ban. Most got it for not reading the post first, but I read it and the full article before posting because I was genuinely interested in knowing about it. That's also where I learned things may be passible in one thread but not in another, particularly one that's bound to get machine gunned with bans. /salt

I agree with you Opie, but a harmless hot women thread is much preferred to endless threads about people getting murdered. Granted, I don't have to read them, but having a balance is nice even if "child-hearted" men tend to abuse it.

What is the point of having a hot women thread though? Hot women doesn't really encourage positive discussion.
 
Is there a thread we can go to to honor those fallen, even if it is a temp ban. Somewhere they can go to browse and know they were loved?

It used to happen in the hot women topics of yore as well. There is an element of one-upsmanship to those threads that, while not every poster engages in it, enough do it that topics get completely derailed. The recent Shakira thread is an example of this in action. And when we do have a hot women topic where users are thoroughly warned about not doing this, this happens: the topic peters out because it is precisely the borderline bannable posts and one-upsmanship of pictures, gifs, and proclamations of how hot a woman is that posters find appealing, and when you forbid that a lot of posters do not seem to see the point.

I think the only topic I have seen of this kind in recent memory that lasted an extended period without degenerating - though it eventually did - was the recent Audrey Hepburn and her baby deer thread, and I suspect that is something that was due to A) the subject and B) the moderation presence in that topic that not every topic is going to have.

And yes, I did read those old threads. No, really. I lurked it sort of the way Straight-GAF used to lurk our hot men topics.
