Right, but everyone--all companies--updates their phone every year. So when you release an incremental "Like last year's model, but 15% better in every way", most people kind of feel like that doesn't merit a big hullabaloo.

It's a huge jump for me since I don't upgrade my phone every 6 months. Going from an iPhone 4 to 5 is a very substantial improvement.

And I mean, Android is fully mature and definitely competitive with iOS and Apple's phones in every way.

OH FUCK ME SIDEWAYS. They meant iTunes on iOS? We've known this new look for weeks.

FUCK we thought it's about the desktop application.

"the new ipad" sounds so ridiculous now... i bet they don't do that shit again.

I think the reason they called it that is so people will, from this point, use the years as unofficial-official model designations, like with cars. The 2013 iPad, etc. Once you hit a certain number of releases, that makes the most sense.

I'm surprised they didn't do it with the iPhone, too.

"This is the biggest thing to happen to iPhone since the iPhone."

Oh fuck you. It's a fine upgrade, but enough with the bullshit.

I'm glad they kept it confined to the iPhone brand instead of the smartphone industry at large. Not so bad.

Nothing about that in particular, as it's a feature I've used maybe twice since owning a smartphone. I was only asking what features I would be missing if I switched from Android to iOS from a phone standpoint. I know there's no widgets, etc etc.

I'm very uninformed when it comes to iPhones from a hands-on perspective. I've never even held one or seen one in action (besides classmates using theirs). I love my iPad, but am unsure about using an iPhone.
For the most part it's going to be functionally identical to your iPad in every way imaginable. Except with slight differences like the camera UI, more capability in the multitasking menu (ability to adjust brightness) and obviously different apps and all the baggage that comes with a cellphone. As far as I know your droid is not running android 4.0 or higher anyway, so it's comically outdated compared to even last years iPhone. I could be wrong about that point though, or you could have a hacked rom, idk.

The only two things I wanted going into this was LTE (check) and NFC (no check). Guess I'm seriously going to consider Android. I've never really paid attention to Android phones. What's the current "best" Android phone, and how close are they to releasing a new "best" Android phone?

Every year in every iPhone thread a bunch of people chime in and say "That's it?" or "Small/insignificant update!" There hasn't been an iPhone unveil that truly wowed bloggers and forum goers. Even the original iPhone!

Their hyperbole is really starting to stretch away from reality now

They were given a script by Steve, and now they're locked in. Only stagnation awaits for those in holding patterns.

Lol come on now people. Christ.

Phone is a solid upgrade, and that is coming from an Android user. Phone looks sexy.

Whether you want a Galaxy or a 5, you'll get a great, top of the line phone.

I am due an upgrade in December and Apple made sure that their phone is not in contention now...

Its hard to call it a solid upgrade when it's hard to distinguish exactly what has been upgraded...

The original iPhone reveal wowed everyone. Everyone.

The best phone is really the one you want. There's so many options, you shouldn't stick to the most popular one, which is the Galaxy S3.
