Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

£290 for the premium on Amazon now!!!!!!!!

Before all this pricing craziness, I would have been ok with the console (including Nintendoland) costing £280, and buying ZombiU at launch for £40. I've ordered the pack containing this exact combo for just £5 more, so i'm not too dissapointed (been saving for this for a while!).

I've done about 1001 print screens of my basket this time around, if they try to sneakily up it again like the did after the previous cock-up.. I'll have proof! :P

Amazon have cocked up and put the 32GB down to £199.

GO GO GO!

I was too late :(

And now the product is no longer listed.

I think there's going to be a lot of errors and cancelled orders in the next 24 hours.

And now they've removed the 32GB.

Get ready for the order cancellations... I hate when they pull this trick. Remove the old listing pretending the item is 'no longer available' and then make a new listing. Means they don't have to commit to the pre-order price guarantee. :(

Sounds.. criminal? Surely you could moan to the papers about it and get them some bad press. If they are going to fuck up, they shouldn't put the big price guarantee icon all over it.

They removed their page for the "DOA 5 Collector's Edition" as well, and I still got an E-Mail from them saying that they will honor the price.

Was thinking the same thing. So basically £250 for the 'essential' bundle doesn't seem too bad to me.

I mean I don't expect it to stand a chance against the 360 or the PS3 at retail this Xmas but it feels like the price could have been far worse.

I think you might be surprised. Expect a huge marketing campaign and NSMB U launching alongside it to generate a fair amount of sales and hype. Along with NintendoLand and NSMB U there are also several other system sellers with ZombiU, Rayman Legends and Lego City Undercover that will shift a fair few units.

Just launching with NSMB U alone is going to guarantee a shitload of hardware sales.

I have just had an e-mail from HMV saying the white Wii U is available to pre-order for a mere £399.99 (but it does include free delivery!) and the release date is 1-1-2014.

Mario is a big seller no doubt. But is Mario a franchise that is going to bring new players to the WiiU? I think not.

Mario is a known quantity among gamers and the public and while it will shift units it's going to break the WiiU out to a wider audience alone.

Shopto pricing

Dear Valued Customer,

We are writing to you regarding your pre-order for the Nintendo Wii U Console Black.

Following Nintendo's global announcement today about the Wii U unfortunately this item will not be released. We value your custom and as you have placed this pre-order with us we want you to be the first to know of the following alternative Wii U console options that we now have available for purchase:

- Wii U Console Black Premium Pack - £296.85 (Link to stock code: WIIUHW5)

- Wii U Console Black Premium Pack + ZombiU Bundle - £324.85 (Link to stock code: WIIUHW03)

- Wii U Console White Standard Pack - £247.85 (Link to stock code: WIIUHW01)

so shopto chicken out on their1+ month old preorder price of 279? no surprise there everyone is doing this shit.

Don't allow preorders until you know the score!

does anyone think that the same will happen to this as what happened to the 3ds? it will release at a higher price than it should and not sell as well resulting in Nintendo cutting the price a few months later?

I'm really disappointed by the price, I was prepared to pay £250 for a premium model or £250 for the basic model with ZombiU, the price has knocked my plan back considerably.

This thread has been quite entertaining watching the prices change. I'm not going to by until it gets close to £150. I don't mind waiting until around when the next Nintendo console comes out.

I expect Amazon will pull the same trick, seeing the £199 mispriced system didn't mention anything about the bundle.

The premium pack at £199 is titled 'Nintendo Wii U 32GB Premium Pack - Black', so the only thing they can say is that it was a misprice (unlike shopto who are getting out of it by saying there isn't a black basic model basically).

Preordered the white one from Amazon for £165.83 (VAT-exempt zone).

I fully expect them to argue this isn't the same bundle as the new basic pack, and to cancel the order.

Although I should be rewarded for having the day off and getting my pre-order in before they pulled the listing, the real world tends not to work like that.
