Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

Well the good stuff starts in the afternoon. Before 4 pm yes it talk talk time (unless its Saturday or Sunday). Adverts are usually every half an hour in movies, they last a bit (but thats what you get if there is no TV tax). In tv series you have one or two advert breaks shoved in. Rhodos doesnt have all the channels though. Athens has more (thats what happens when half of a countries population lives in one place). Also greeks have a few series they consider timeless classics, which take there airtime no matter how old they and crap looking they are.

But perhaps the reason for me not liking British TV and prefering Greek TV is much similar, I was raised in a different cultural environment, e.g. I dont get british comedies (I dont really ever find them them funny, sometimes I even find them cold). It just an example.

Also, they still havn't cancelled my white basic £199 from before the conference today. Will see what happens though. If it works then I'll get it for £167 delivered!!
 
I wish I'd got in on that £199 deal. As it stands though I'll probably just wait, nothing really compelling at launch.
 
Just got a reply to my amazon email regarding the whole £199.99 price, this is what they said. I guess we'll see what happens in the next few days.

No it isn't. The UK price includes tax. If you want to compare the US ans UK pricing like for like then you need to remove the tax from the UK price. Which would make the UK price £233 or $376 if it ends up at £279.99

According to Amazon checkout the £299 Wii U Premium Pack price breaks down as follows:-

Total before VAT: £249.99
VAT: £50.00
Order Total: £299.99

£249.99 = $404.10 - thats quite a bit more expensive than the US price, even when you take VAT into account.

Seems good. Why not order and fill Your info with a non legit credit card. Then you can check out user reviews. A week before release fix your details if you still want to go order from that site.

I would do the same if they would have the ZombiU bundle.
 
In the Channel Islands we don't have VAT, but we have a local GST of 5%. For online transactions however, the GST only applies on orders above £240. That's why we all use Amazon :)

I hope Amazon doesn't cancel my order for the basic model. I'd prefer the Premium but I don't think it's worth over £250. ATM I't be above that even less VAT, and I'd get hit with 5% tax as explained above.

I am sure that there will be better deals as it gets closer to release date, however.

Haha. Somthing left over from WW2. Not to mention that we get no support or services from the UK - so it's only right we don't need to give them any tax :D

Nope. Should do though. Most sites don't take VAT off automatically. You have to ask or claim it back later.


Word of warning: Not all sites are quoting the same contents for ZU package. Did the Nintendo Direct definitely say it had a pro controller?
 
If they are honouring the £199 premium then they might keep the new price high to compensate, unless only a few people jumped on it.

I think I'd jump on a zombieU pack for £299

Cant see the zombie U pack on amazon? Would probably just get from a supermarket to avoid day 1 wailing if it doesn't turn up
 
Well that's the Zombi U Premium pre-ordered and a standard premium. Now to wait it out and see who dips in price first. :)
 
I've been thinking about it. I think I'd rather have the 8GB one!

It's white, it looks nicer than black.
I don't own ANY digital content on the Wii, so the 8GB doesn't fuss me. And I can add any HDD to it anyway.
Nintendo Land... Not my cup of tea.
Console stand? I guess you'll be able to buy them.

The only thing is the Nintendo Network discounts. But... Like I said, I don't tend to buy digital content.

So... I'll be keeping my eyes on the price of the 8GB one now.

2999 kr. is 400£ or 520$

oh my oh my.,..

and this is the cheapest site in denmark at the moment.. all the other sites are listing it at over 4.000 kr.. that is 540£ or 700$..

I´m not even in Denmark.. I´m in the Faroe Islands.. so that would mean more taxes and freight on top of those prices..

I really hope the Wii-U isn´t attracting to kids, because I would need another job if my kids would want one (they enjoy playing on their Wii)

I'd wait for prices to go down. I don't know how much retailers compete out there, but by the time it releases our retailers in the UK will be chomping at the bit to get the cheapest prices... hopefully.

I'm not buying it at £260. I should say, I can't even afford to buy it at that price. It goes from Christmas present -> saving up Christmas & birthday money. Either that, or getting loads of extra shifts.

£350 ZombieU bundle. Going halves on it with the girlfriend so works out £175, though we'll be getting Mario and Rayman too.

What the fuck :( I was hoping for something like 2200/2800. This is absolutely ridiculous! I can get the premium model for 2650 from Spain!!
 
What the fuck has happened? I went to sleep last night considering a pre-order, so I refresh the page this morning and WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?
 
I managed to get in an order for the 8gb White pack on Amazon for £220 yesterday. £222 with first day postage.

I paid that amount for the 3DS on launch day. I have a 1tb usb drive hooked up to my Wii already, ready to go. I aint even mad.

Happy with the price.
