Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

Hopefully it'll support Wiimote/chuck controls as well like that; with the gamepad in the stand doing what it's doing. I know I was in the minority during Tri, but I liked the Wiimote controls.

I'ma Wiimote/Nunchuck guy too. Much prefer it.

This game is going to be perfect to have early on in 2013 to deal with software droughts. Who am I kidding? This game has more content than MH Tri, I'll be playing it for even longer! Thank you, Capcom.

I hope this hasn't already been covered, but I'm new to the Monster Hunter series & curious. I'm about 25 hours deep into Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii & I love it so far. Any word on whether it's possible to import your character/progress from Tri into this version of the game?

If so, consider it bought.

The 3DS version didn't so I can only assume the Wii U version won't either. Though I really don't know.

Nope. You can't, and you shouldn't want to either.

The Tri portions of the game are different. You'd be missing out on new content if you retained your armor and weapons.

Oh nice. Forgot about that. So why not use that for the western release too?

Wait, so first you want to do a separate import thread, then you want to just use last year's thread?

Also, Monster Hunter is becoming more of an international series, and aside from that, I think it's useful reminding people with a brand new thread that a brand new MH is coming out.

I'll be streaming some 8-4 goodness with John TV, Sprsk etc in December. Soooooo excited

Monster Hunter is back! :D

Include me in that group! I was hunting with them all the time during the Portable 3rd HD days. Will be doing the same for 3G on the Wii U since we need to get john up to G rank. ;)

Cripes, I turn my back on the internet for a week and this happens. No time to spend reading up though, got to finish degree course. :( I guess I'll just bookmark all this stuff and absorb it in another month. But still, holy shit!

Thanks for the replies, Kyoufu & others. If there really is so much new content that it doesn't feel like I'm doing the same thing over again in HD, then I'll keep this game on my radar. I plan to keep trucking in Tri, too, because I'm really liking it so far.

That too. If there's a lot more content, I'm all in.

Wait? They're both releasing in March, aren't they?

As far as we know, yes, they are.

Also to reiterate, you can sync your save file between a Wii U copy and 3DS copy of the game.

Play online at home.

Play locally on the go.

Makes sense to me.

Also, to reiterate something else, no online for 3DS has yet to be confirmed. The Capcom Unity post says it's still in the cards.

Unless you don't want to buy both versions.

But Oichi was teasing earlier in the thread when someone said a Wii U/3DS online mash-up wasn't possible. So I'm going to mention it again to hold his feet to the fire!

Unless you don't want to buy both versions.

You're part of the problem! :P

lol how you copying buddeh?

Monster Hunter on yet another underpowered console? Oh the agony.

lol

Wii U is underpowered? Compared to what? Some imaginary consoles that don't exist yet? PC's? (but when isn't that the case? And MH is on PC already...)

I'm just poking fun lol.

The guy is tired of Monster Hunter being on 'underpowered' consoles like the 3DS and the Wii U. I'm just rubbing salt in his own wounds.

Someone needs to change the thread title to reflect that 3DS online is a maybe.

And keep hope alive? No way! 3DS has no online AFAIK.. they would have screamed that of the rooftops if it has.

Surprised this isn't a launch release with WiiU... March 2013? Damn. Same Tigrex assets and still no online in a handheld MH released in 2013... depressing.
