Mother Jones: "Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters"

Take a step back.

I strongly urge you to delete your entire post.

"Barack, come to bed," Michelle Obama dejectedly called out from the presidential bedroom.

The President of the United States sat at his desk, squinting at a computer monitor, thoughts utterly elsewhere.

"Barack!"

"Oh, sorry dear, I'll be there in a moment."

Barack Obama glanced back at his computer monitor.

=(sum(F24:F64000))*314397000/14447100000000*(SQRT(G57) he quickly typed, hopeful that the equation would calculate. Satisfied that it did, he saved PeopleAreResources dot X L S X and retired to his bedchamber.

"Michelle," he began while changing into his onesie jamjams, "I'd like to talk to you about Malia--our ROI isn't looking good at the moment. Don't worry about Sasha though, I talked to Paul Krugman today and everything is fine with her."

But Michelle didn't hear him, she was already asleep.

Tuning in later for the finale of this trainwreck.

Was Colbert/Stuart able to add a segment about this on their show tonight?

Nope was almost entirely the stuff from last week on Libya and the riots. They really find the most awful/fun times to go on vacation XD.

Jesus doesn't have a brother named Satan as proclaimed in that Mormon Cartoon vid which I assume everything is true according to Mormon faith. Jesus is the one and only son of God. I'm not Christian and I know that much. How hardcore believers of Christianity are supporting Mitt who believes Jesus has a brother is beyond me.
I'm assuming this is a joke post, but mainstream Christian (i.e. Catholicism, Orthodoxism and most branches of Protestantism) tradition acknowledges several brothers of Jesus (sons of Mary and Joseph). As many as eight of them, I believe, the most famous of whom was James the Less, the Overseer / Bishop of Jerusalem who was beaten or stoned to death at the Temple. Heck, the Book of James is sometimes claimed to have been written by him.

That's not often talked about because it screws with people's perceptions of Mary as not only being a virgin at the time of Jesus' conception, but also a virgin until her death (or assumption, if you're Catholic), so not everyone knows.

I know next to nothing about Mormon traditions though, so I can't speak intelligently on the Satan thing.

It's 3am EST, where are teh moar leeks?

edit: Oh, PST. Boooo.

If it's what I think it is, it's not that bad compared to what they already released. It's stuff about him joking about being born with a silver spoon in his mouth and about how he'd stand a better chance of winning if he were hispanic.

How could you "think" anything about a video or series of videos that haven't been released yet?

That's already on their youtube channel which makes me think it's something new. It may be the same stuff though I hope not.

edit - here's link, has videos on what romney said about wishing he was hispanic for more votes, admitting to being born with a silver spoon, explaining how to use ann romney as a political tool etc.

So it is not my responsibility to make sure I am fed, clothed, sheltered, healthy, etc.? It's the state's responsibility? Is that what you guys are saying?

Sure they are. Ordinarily, it would be expected of you to provide these things for yourself.

Thing is, if you somehow cannot achieve these things by yourself for reasons of health or circumstance, the basic human dignity of having food on the table, a shirt on your back, medicine when you're sick and a roof over your head should be your basic right. The idea is that you shouldn't have to starve in a modern industrial society with more than enough surplus resources to achieve that end.

Besides, the cost of feeding, clothing and caring for the weakest members of our society pales in comparison to the cost of having roving gangs of starving thieves running around, driven to violence and crime out of sheer desperation.

Wow. You guys are obtuse as Fuck. Its not even funny or sad. Some people, who are less fortunate, rely on government and support for food and shelter in america. And if you do, it doesn't mean you pay 0 income tax, and are a freeloader. Coming from a man that pays less taxes than this entire thread, its demeaning and insulting.

And no, that isn't what anyone is saying at all. Read articles covering this, as you're unable to make sense of this entire thread that says nothing of the sort.

So it is not my responsibility to make sure I am fed, clothed, sheltered, healthy, etc.? It's the state's responsibility? Is that what you guys are saying?

i think this is exactly what people are saying
have you tried matching your shirt, pants, sock etc on your own? it's pretty much a disaster

The structure of a capitalist economy, at it's very fundamental level, forces there to be poor people. Forces. You cannot construct a capitalist society, in practice or even theoretically, where this is not an eventuality. Since the very nature of society forces some portion of society to be poor, anyone with even a modicum of empathy would want to make sure that these people meet at least some basic needs. This has a secondary effect of making society a less hostile place for everyone.

Yeah totes. It's not like we have the FDA, fire departments, clean water, the police, EPA, road maintenance, public education, electricity, gas, etc. Let's just allow for the Republicans to gut these things or the means to fund them further so it's even harder for you to keep that roof, drink your tap, get your food and clothes.

No way man, Gangs of New York was great! What America needs is children cutting each other over scrap resources!

Edit: ILLITERATE children!

How many of Romney's "12 million jobs" (he used that number, right) do you suppose will be in the prison industry?

But IIII built that!

Some people believe that if everyone works hard enough then we will all be in the 1%!!

The most aggravating about what some of the richest people want is that it isn't even in their best interest in the long term. Its hard to run you businesses when no one has any money to spend. It is short term thinking at its worst.

Not to mention the number of jobs available will just continue to decline. As technology improves and everything becomes automated less people will be needed. Do they expect the people not lucky enough to get one of those scarce jobs to just lay down and die? Do they want a full scale riot on their hands?

I mean technology improving should be a good thing for society right? As things become automated maybe everyone wouldn't have to work so damn hard and we could all reap the benefits of the collective achievements of those that came before us.

It honestly reminds me of the Aliens you see in movies. You have the peaceful aliens. Then you have the evil aliens that kill and plunder just because they are powerful and they can. Lets just say that a lot of these right-wing Republicans are full on Independence Day.

If you are old 67+, disabled or out of work, surely the government has to help you, at one point when you had a job and were paying taxes, you didn't need the government but now that you are out of a job and the economy is bad, how do you feed yourself and your family or pay the healthcare bills of your kids when you don't have the money? Do you think its okay for the government to sit by and let you and your family burn in hell because you lost your job?

If that what you are saying then by all means join Mitt and fuck the rest who are poor, its their own fault.

I don't know about you guys but I like how many people are in debt up to their eyeballs right now, are bankrupted by health care costs and have a student loan anchor tied to their ankle.

Muahahahahaha.

I'd really like to know the story behind this. I mean, one of the people there voluntarily leaked it knowing it wouldn't look too good, and that's an understatement.

I don't know about you guys but I like how many people are in debt up to their eyeballs right now, are bankrupted by health care costs and have a student loan anchor tied to their ankle.

Muahahahahaha.
Fuck these entitled assholes for wanting to eat.

between these comments and the ones from Lindsey Graham, who admits the party is out to "generate angry white guys", how can anyone with modern values vote for this party.

"There are 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. "

I just can't imagine how any politician could become president/prime minister/etc after saying something like this, except in America. In my fruity European homeland you'd be declared an unelectable moron.

I actually know a guy from my job that was just hit by a car while riding his bicycle from work. His leg was completely smashed and has been unable to work for the last 5 months and He has been completely ruined financially by hospital bills. Besides his legs he's a healthy able bodied dude but he'll never be able to pay down the ten of thousands of dollars he now owes.

Real shit, real people. So laugh it up you callous bastard.

http://www.therightscoop.com/oh-noe...saying-obama-voters-believe-they-are-victims/

Found this while looking around for reactions from right wingers.

Warning: the comments are highly rage inducing and make me weep for humanity.

Snowball has taken over. Christ..

These people are so amazingly selfish. The sad thing is that I bet most aren't making that much money, and won't benefit from anything Romney is going to do, outside of pandering to them for a vote to help his buddies out.

No way man, Gangs of New York was great! What America needs is children cutting each other over scrap resources!

Provided the US follows the Republican vision, Rio de Janeiro as it stands now is pretty much a vision of the future. A future, I might add, without nearly as many good looking people or such lively music.

Enjoy the rise of the favelas folks!

Is it true that 47% of Americans don't pay income taxes? Is he just talking about registered voters? I'd hope so, otherwise it doesn't make any sense.

And wouldn't there be a significant proportion of those who don't pay income tax that would vote Republican? Wouldn't there be statistics on something like that?

It's true, but instead they pay property, payroll, or sales taxes. The actual number of Americans who pay little to no taxes at all is something like ~20%. And yeah, a lot of them would definitely be Republicans, because the reason they're not paying income taxes isn't because they're lazy, it's because they're older or simply unable to work.

The Economy video is funny. He contradicts himself completely. Very good stuff.

Thanks, Slime. And here I was under the impression that all Republicans were hard-working, independently-made Americans while all Democrats were lazy shitheels clung to Obama's teat.

What's the difference between income and payroll tax? (Euro here)

in economic terms, nothing.

In the US, you are taxed around 7.5% up to $108k of wages in payroll taxes. The employer must contribute the other 7.5%. Self-employed contribute the full 15% (i'm rounding btw and this is in normal times, we have a temporary tax cut right now).

Income taxes are taxed on all wages, not capped at $108k. They are also at different tax rates.

Here’s a quick rundown of what the Federal income tax brackets are expected to look like in 2012:

Tax Bracket Married Filing Jointly Single
10% Bracket $0 – $17,400 $0 – $8,700
15% Bracket $17,400 – $70,700 $8,700 – $35,350
25% Bracket $70,700 – $142,700 $35,350 – $85,650
28% Bracket $142,700 – $217,450 $85,650 – $178,650
33% Bracket $217,450 – $388,350 $178,650 – $388,350
35% Bracket Over $388,350 Over $388,350

Here are the new videos. I don't think these are anything worth talking about, really. Israel one is pretty standard US position. Same with Iran. His mischaracterizes Obama's foreign policy, but nothing to make headlines.
The only thing that really stands out is that he has said in public that he supports a two-state solution, but to these rich donors, he says he doesn't really believe in it.

If anything, the last couple of days have been vindication for those who were skeptical of him.

That said, I'm going to sleep.

I understand why theoretically people would vote for him. There's stupid ones, there's racists, there's the generally uninformed, there's the rich, there's those that traditionally vote Republican, there's the really extremely conservative ones, maybe even those that are afraid. However, you have those people in every country, yet e.g. in Germany you wouldn't be anywhere close to office with this bullshit, so I have to assume it's something US-specific. Maybe because you have (essentially) only two parties? I don't get it. Are there really that many - from a European perspective, I apologize if someone should be offended - insane people in your country?

Shitty education and shitty states being able to cost everyone else elections.

Germany has distanced itself from its bigotry and racism so much to where its illegal and socially denounced.

America still supports racism and bigotry by sidestepping the obvious. Our culture here is still very segregated socially. We love our American Dream, our Guns, and our Jesus. No freeloaders, etc. There is a lot of pride that I think separates America from other places. If pride is the right word, I'm not sure. its 330am.. fucking jumped the gun sleeping and woke up early.

yeap.
