Is this screenshot real? If so, yay for blurry graphics and ugly/sterile iOS fonts.
A couple more:

These screenshots are from more than one year ago, this may or may not mean anything.

edit: turns out they're the same screenshots they used in the app page. lolz.

Actually, I'm very interested to see if they butchered re-doing the songs like the PSP version or just cut them.

But, while you wait, why not enjoy a few screens from Class of Heroes 2, coming soon to PSN. :)

Might wanna use the CoH2 thread(s) for these...
(not that I'm not psyched)

Don't worry, there's an official update coming shortly with a lot more media. Just dropped these in as a tease since there's some crossover and I was sifting through a bunch of these pics when I saw this thread come up.

weeee this is one of my fav 5 games and 2nd fav rpg next to chrono trigger

will it be optimized for ipad life or what

This might actually help because the fact that this license happened negates the excuses of one of the licensing parties. We'll see.

How much did you change in the PSX game from the Japanese original?

I've seen (here in Japan) the original PSX game for 100 yen, and I'm thinking about picking it up (to play in my PS3) as opposed to waiting for the PSN release (to play mainly on a Vita I've yet to buy).

The translation won't be the same... It'll either be the PSP version's translation, or a new one from scratch. Working Designs may no longer exist in the industry, but all the rights to their work is still in the owner's hands (the company was never bought out, it basically just quietly closed it's doors with only one big forum post to explain it a few years back).

The dubbing and all would have to be from the PSP or redone as well. This won't be a simple port of the PSX version. The Lunar series of the PS1 days are dead, they died when Sony killed Working Designs.
The PSP's translation is a combination of the PS1 script and XSEED's own work. XSEED had the Working Designs script on hand, courtesy of Game Arts.

There's a fair amount of interface changes - dual memory card support, more saves, analog stick support, dual shock support, 2 controller support, battle improvements, and probably some others that slipped my mind.

Music is completely different in one animation.

There's also a major plot difference at the very end of the game with something you have to do that you didn't in the Japanese version. I think it wrapped up the game much more nicely with a callback and made more sense in the context of the love story.

I'm sure there's other things I'm missing, but that's the major stuff.

Right. Game Arts was sold back the rights to everything but the performances. That's why I'm interested to see what direction the iOS one takes.

It'll be $6.99 USD, about 522 MB

Long ago, a great Dragonmaster named Dyne, with the aid of his faithful companions, defended the goddess Althena from a terrible evil. Time has passed, and those great adventurers have become the stuff of legend, but the world of Lunar is now threatened by a shadowy figure known as the Magic Emperor. In a humble village, far removed from the turmoil, lives a young man named Alex. Idolizing the legendary Dyne, Alex dreams of one day becoming a renowned Dragonmaster and matching the achievements of his lifelong hero. Encouraged by his childhood friend Ramus, Alex sets out with his companion Nall and his adopted sister Luna on a seemingly trivial quest, unaware that it would prove to be the first step in an epic adventure whose outcome will determine the fate of the entire world.

Following the critically-acclaimed iOS port of the Japanese roleplaying game Vay, SoMoGa has returned to bring you Lunar: Silver Star Story, now with numerous enhancements for iOS! A traditional, turn-based Japanese RPG, this port offers:

- Nearly a full hour of animated cut scenes
- Remastered soundtrack with high quality music and voice tracks
- A completely updated interface designed specifically for iOS
devices, including an onscreen joypad
- GameCenter integration
- And much more!

I am still partial to the PSX version of the game, but am interested in a version I can play on my ipad. :)

(I would still pay for PSN versions of the the two psx games)

fsGU

I wonder what the additional Game Center features are (besides achievements, most likely).
Also lol at the date.

That's what I want to know. I have been hooked on the intro and the boat song since I first heard them on the PSX. Remember that cloth map too, those were the days for JRPG fans.

I don't even own a phone I can play games on but if the PSX music is in, then maybe we can also get a release of the PSX version on PSN.

Hell yea, I STILL have the intro and boat song on my iPhone for my daughter. She LOVES the song, and when I showed her the video, loved that too. I swear, she kept clicking repeat. Thats actually when she learned to use a computer mouse, too.

That packaging was godly. I unfortunately missed out on Lunar SSS. It was so rare and sold out. I bought its sequel, Eternal Blue on day 1.

EDIT: If this version's a hit, they might release Eternal Blue in like, 3 years. Ha

Is this going to be for all iOS devices? I'd imagine it would be better on the iPad, but the iPhone would be better for portability. I might pick this up even though I already have the Sega Saturn version(s) of Lunar 1. Both the original release and the enhanced version that uses the MPEG video adapter.

It's universal

Yeah, not biased or anything, especially seeing how he acted toward xseed!

You mean accommodating? Offering to get all the original actors together to record the additional audio? Offering to write the new text so it matches the tone of the text they were copying in and didn't stick out like a sore thumb? Yeah, that was awful.

Ouch.

I've played 3 hours on the PSP. Wondering if I should stop and just buy this I don't carry my vita with me, but always carry my iPad.

Dammit, my phone is borked after trying to update to ios 6. Gotta download iOS 6 again on iTunes to restore my phone. THAT download is crawling along.

Buying this on my iPad (downloading now) cuz I can't wait. =). Any chance of cloud saves?

(man, then I gotta download this AGAIN on my phone. <sigh>)
