It's Broodmate Wurm!
I would still prefer Thragtusk in that situation.
But it will be fantastic in limited.
So exchange it then destroy it? That's all I can figure
Sacrifice? Will this let you sac something they used to control?
Sure, you can definitely sacrifice their stuff. But you're trading it with them, so they get to trade it with something of yours if they still have it. I don't think you'd want to play a game of tradesies over and over.
Are we gonna do a google word doc and rate each card? I didn't contribute last time, but this time I'd like to :>
Posting pics of the 3rd best of the new Doctors doesn't help your case.
This probably has Legacy implications.
Cast it, then another turn when you use it, add this:We have the whole set spoiled folks! The last two came in just now. And the last one is amazing.ly weird

Modern

Vintage
Burning Wish is Unrestricted.
Explanation of September 20, 2012, B&R Changes
Erik Lauer
Recent Modern tournaments have been diverse, with no deck dominating the metagame. Since Modern is a non-rotating format, banned cards never rotate out. The DCI is unbanning a card to see how that affects the format. We looked for cards that were on the initial banned list for Pro Tour Philadelphia. We wanted a card that would not easily slot into an existing top deck and also wanted to enable a deck with a different play pattern than the current top decks. After examining the options, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle was selected as the card to unban.
While Vintage tournaments have also been fairly diverse, there has been a paucity of combination decks. Burning Wish is a strong combination enabler. It was first printed in Judgment in May 2002 and restricted in January 2004. At the time, quick-kill combo decks were dominating. Since then, the DCI has unrestricted many Vintage cards, and the restricted list is smaller today than it was in 2000 or any time since then. Continuing in this long-term trend, Burning Wish is unrestricted.
We are moving!
Going forward, Banned and Restricted updates will by synchronized with set releases. For each set, starting with Gatecrash, the announcement will be the Monday after the Prerelease, and the effective date will be the same as the release date of the set.
There are several advantages to this. First, this means there is no longer a date you have to remember. Second, it is less disruptive to deck management. Most players find it is a good time to update their decks when a set releases. Finally, this answers odd questions as to whether a banning has taken place if the update date occurs in the middle of a tournament.
[For Competitive+ REL only] You now need to announce *all* your triggers.
In the past, there was a subclass of triggers (No Visual Effect) that did not require announcing because they didnt have an impact on the visual state of the board or require choices. Think Goldnight Commander or Kruin Striker. However, with the simplifying of the trigger rules, those now have to be announced.
Simplified Trigger Rules: You cannot forget your triggers. Your opponent is not required to remind you. If your opponent misses a trigger and you want it to happen, call a judge (and youll get to make happen if its still within a turn). If you miss your trigger unintentionally and the opponent doesnt want it to happen, it wont happen.
So there are also new trigger rules for tournament play. http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showpost.php?p=9059346&postcount=1
That seems tedious. But I guess being clear about everything is good.

Wait, you have to announce Goldknight Commander in tournament games? But its not even a "may" effect
They've been trying to decrease "gotcha" moments in tournament play.
The Golgari and Rakdos decks in DOTP seem the most immediately powerful and interesting to me.
Selesnya seems to suffer from lack of removal, but it has 2 Swords Plowshares to unlock which would obviously go a long way.
That is a fine goal. But (at least to me) it seems like we should expect people playing competitively to know when stuff like Exalted and Battlecry are going to trigger without being told.

After my swearing and promising never to do boxes again...
I am down for two japanese boxes for myself and one english box for my gf of RtR
This article on the The Verge about the Player's Championship is actually pretty good: http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/20/3326708/magic-the-gathering-players-championship
Nice to see a nice big piece of coverage on somewhere slightly more mainstream than usual.
Lol, that's a pretty wild swing.
There is just something about opening packs.
Takes you me back to when I first started playing, and there is nothing like it.
It is momentary, and it is over pretty damned quick but for that moment it is the greatest.
I was able to avoid the bug with M13, though now need to catch up a little but RtR is just too good.
RtR does look like a great set to open. Did you have to pay much extra for the Japanese boxes?
you will never be able to stop your addiction, it will only facilitate until you're on the street corners begging for packs of m13 to satiate your needs
Might as well do some limited games with them. Limited play, in my opinion, is generally more interesting than constructed, in my opinion. That is, assuming someone doesn't get super lucky.*There is just something about opening packs.

*Played a sealed game with a friend a couple weeks ago, 2 packs each of M13, Avacyn and Innistrad. That jack ass got a Sigarda, and Thragtusk and an Angelic Overseer. :|
