Happy #1 was OK, but I look forward to the next issues as that's when I feel it'll get interesting.
...but one thing that I noticed is the lack of well Morrison-dialog and sequencing...

so I just got back from my local comic shop to sign up for the mtg event tomorrow (because I just love throwing away money) and I found out they are selling AvX issue 12 a week early. I of course picked it up. I'll be back with marked spoilers on how it ends and what I think of it.

I actually play hulk in umvc3 too. hahaha.

In any case, AvX 12.

Both the X-men and Avengers are partnered up and all around the world trying to contain all the bad shit that is going on because dark phoenix cyclops is ruining everything. From Paris to the Himalayas, everyone is attempting to do damage control while essentially meeting failure when combating the dark phoenix himself. Eventually Loeb Nova comes out of absolutely nowhere (he is able to make it to the battle within seconds from a hemisphere away), decks cyclops out of the sky, and essentially meets failure and just doesn't really matter till the end from there (I am noticing a pattern with this kid). What he did do, however, is give Scarlet Witch and Hope the moment they need to get their shit together and fight Scott. 72 hours ago from the current point of avx 12, Hope lashed out at Wanda because all of this was her fault, essentially. It was the events of house of M that caused "cyclops to go down the path he is on because Wanda forced his hand". Wanda agrees but argues now isn't the time for this. Hope doesn't listen and continues to insist that Wanda ruined her life. Iron man and Cap calm her shit down.

Through the use of them both using Wanda's powers (Hope combining it with Iron Fist's training), they are able to weaken the Dark Phoenix for everyone to dog pile them and eventually defeat them. At this moment in time, I actually really felt for cyclops because of his monologue. I am going to put it in it's own paragraph so if you wanna wait to read it yourself, please skip it.

"All I wanted to do was change the world. To see my children grow up to be something other than time-traveling freedom fighters. To see mutants able to use their powers for more than just fighting killer robots. To usher in an era of peace. And I did. I made miracles. But somewhere along the way...I went off-track. Somewhere...." And then he begs them all to please kill him.

He then sees Jean (mentally, it seems. She does NOT come back) and she tells him to let it go. She says "it doesn't hurt". The Phoenix then leaves Scott's body and finally enters Hope. With this surge of power, she flies around the world trying to fix up all the shit Scott fucked up (admittedly all she seemed to do was put a bandage on it instead of say, deforming all the brand new volcanoes and whatever). My issue with this part is with Iron Man. A few panels ago his armor told him he did not have enough energy for flight. Unless the power source is constantly recharging, he should not have been able to fly after Hope like he does. She goes all white suit phoenix on them and starts talking about becoming the savior of all. Wanda than says "fuck that" and convinces Hope that she was not chosen because she could wield the power. She was chosen because she could let the power go and together (I assuming she is borrowing Wanda's powers again) they say "no more phoenix" and it leaves the earth. I have no idea if it still exists, but it isn't there anymore. What it DID do, however, before leaving was reversing the no more mutants thing. Suddenly people are developing mutant powers all around the world and cerebra is going nuts.

Scott is arrested and comes to realize he fucked up big time with the phoenix force and takes full responsibility for it. Emma Frost, Namor, and Magneto decided to run and now they are wanted for their crimes. Scott attempts to take the blame for them too, but Captain America tells him to shut up and that they will have to answer for themselves. He gets that the phoenix force is to blame for all this, but them deciding to run does nothing for them in trying to prove their innocence. After that is said, Cap claims he admits he was a dick in the start as well, and that he and the Avengers should have backed the mutants more often than they actually did. He intends to rectify that with the uncanny avengers.

Cyclops then says "I guess this begins a new age for the Avengers and X-men both." In which case Captain America screams at him "Don't you dare! Don't you dare try to turn this into a win! You waged a war that set friend against friend! You played Russian Roulette with the planet! You left wounds that will take years to heal if they ever heal at all. And you killed one of the finest men I've ever known. If you consider that a win...I pity you. I really do".

Then they show Thor talking to the new Nova and Thor asks him to join the Avengers since he earned the right to...by getting his ass kicked a lot. "Nova" then responds by saying he needs to ask his mom first. Lets hope she says no and then smothers him with a pillow.

The story as a whole feels a lot more rounded than Fear Itself did where the ending just kinda...happened. I don't think the story was horrible, exactly, but I am glad it is over only so that we can now move onto hopefully better things.

i would buy the hell out of that.

I'm just glad that
shit for brains gets fucked over and yelled at. I fucking hate Cyclops more than ever.

What the fuck happened to Cable asking Cyke to keep Hope away from the Avengers ? Everyone at Marvel forget that ?

Whole lot of chracter assasinations in this event but I guess
Mags being a bad guy once again is worth it

Wow at this part.
I can't wait for the Emma, Namor, Magneto on the run series. Fuck Captain America. Cyclops was RIGHT

Wait AvX12 is out?

Not officially, no. I went over to my local comic store to sign up for this magic: the gathering event happening tomorrow and the owner told me he is already selling next week's stuff. I picked up the issue early. There was only one left and I couldn't find any other new issues for next week, so I am sorry if anyone was hoping for anything else.

Don't worry I just remembered the ad saying in October and I thought I was going nuts or something if it already got released. Never heard of comics having their street dates broken before. lol

yeah I really wasn't expecting that. Didn't hesitate to take advantage though, hahaha. I just wish my damn droid was compatible with their AR app. I haven't gotten a chance to try it yet because of that.

I'm sorry, but, what on earth has
Magneto done in AvX to be wanted for war crimes? He's by far been the most level headed of the senior X-Men

"Yo Mags, we're ditching this place before Da (hu)Man starts cracking down, you in?"

"...fuck it, I was bored of this place anyway"

I don't really know.
I guess he fought against the Avengers with the rest of the X-men and because of his terrorist past, he figured he was screwed? His wanted posters were up with Emma's and Namor's though.
If everyone is right and they do get their own series, perhaps he can explain his reasoning for running. Until then, your guess is as good as mine.

I want to know how
Colossus fits in with everything. He's joining Cable's team so does that mean he's forgiven or is Cable's team also fugitive? And where is the breakout star of AvX, Magik? That psycho is one of my favourites now.

Also,
I'm still absolutely astonished that, for whatever reason, Cyclops survived this event whereas Xavier was killed for the 4385909th time. It was perfectly set up for Cyclops to die and "be with Jean" again they decided not to do that and now thanks to All-New X-men we'll have two of those dull pricks walking around for the price of one.

Those two seem to be important in Uncanny X-men now. I'd check there in the coming days.

Maybe Doop can persuade you to think differently?

That sounds like a fairly decent ending all things considered. Still manages to paint Cap as a massive bellend. If it wasn't for Rememder i wouldn't even think of picking up his NOW ongoing. The shoehorning of Nova is as hilarious as black Fury in 616.

That sounds absolutely awful. So much character assassination just so Captain America can feel self righteous about showing up out of no where and demanding to take Hope.

Fuck Marvel.

This is perfect setup to make Cyclops even more brooding AND make Young Cyclops go all I'll never be like you da...err me...Bendis is gonna have a field day with that for better or for worse.

Y'all know I'm a massive Morrison fanboy, but his dialogue is always really weird. Sometimes I think he treats it symbolically, as if the little balloons with the words in them are just purified distillations of an actual conversation, abstracted and removed one step, much like the 2d art of a comic is abstracted from our 3D reality (see Final Crisis, Seaguy, the Filth). But sometimes his dialogue is spot on and incredibly human (see parts of the Invisibles for instance).

I can see why a lot of people would hate it, but I often find myself grinning with glee at his abstract dialogue. It's like 21st century Kirby, but more refined and precise.
