Gimme tips, kind sir!

Keep making combos, don't use the 'clear' powerup unless you really have to, usually during a combo and you can't find the next group to clear. Go nuts on combos when you have the hourglass. Combo combo combo. If you play well you can often beat opponents in 1 round

I came here to ask this too.

How exactly do you go about making combos? I guess I'm just too used to playing Tetris Attack/ Planet Puzzle League, which is the game that seems most similar to this, but it seems like it's really hard to set up combos when you can only move to make a match. How can you manipulate the board to set stuff up when the tiles available to be moved are basically determined for you?

Hourglass?

80-100 points each for ATTACK/DEFENSE.
Not bad, but you need to practise until you can average around 150 for each. I've managed to hit (though admittedly, they were kinda flukey) 315 for attack and 257 for defence.

Tentacles is really good. Nice little unexpected surprise.

I saw it an immediately bought it, because I enjoyed it on Windows Phone 7; hope more of the Live games from WP7 make their way over. They deserve to be played, damn shame that platform has been so ignored.

I'm quickly getting the hang of Zookeeper, just went on a 8 game win streak, putting me second only to Wario64 among the group of GAFfers I recently added to GameCenter.

I can't believe I've waited this long to get into the game, it's pretty amazing for a free game. You get new plays really quickly, I can't imagine why anyone would spend money to get more games.

I was planning on getting either Bastion or The Last Express this weekend but I can see this eating up most of my gaming time now. Trying to decide whether I want to continue doing a trial by fire with Battle or buy the single-player version to practice.

Just wait until you get seriously burned. It'll suck some serious enthusiasm out of you.

I'm actually curbing my Zoo Keeper playtime by getting stuck into lightning mode on Bejewelled. I think it's helping my ZK technique... at least it feels that way.

It is possible for someone to make a thread about the release of Sugar Kid?

Why?

Because is ...MY GAME! :D

We have been developing it since a year and a half. It being published by Bulkypix (ey, it's absolutely indie, all done by us except the translation of the text of the App Store and things like that) and it has some good reviews. I will love to listen opinions by you, by the way:

This is the game:

And these are the trailers.

It's a shame Pocket UFO never was picked up in an official manner. It's a perfect copy of the original (being that well, it is the original), with a new UI optimized for touch screen. So at least it feels like real deal.

To me, this new port looks like amateur hour all over (which is probably because it is), as if they wanted to make X-Com with a tile swap. It also screams rip-off as much as any other gameloft game does, more so because all the elements are kept nearly exactly the same. Maybe there are more differences underneath, but something like Xenonauts would be better representative of what I imagine a X-Com clone to look like.

If you missed the original, there's no reason why you can't play it, if you wanted to. This game will not replace it, only offer an imitation of it. Maybe that's enough, but it's not the original X-com that everyone loves and cherished.

I just want XCOM on my iPad and since no one else is giving me that I bought it. It's XCOm alright. Of course I would love Xenonauts on iOS but I don't even think they have any plans for that. So will do for the time being and on the go.

This seems like something my daughters (and I) might enjoy. I also love the icon:

... and the word "humoristic".

Big though, the >50MB haters will be along shortly.

Good luck with your game, bro. Can I just correct your English a bit? One of your screenshots says 'It's a little bit gore'. It should be 'It's a little bit gory'

And to whoever recommended playing Butterfly mode in Bejeweled 3 (which is just Bejeweled on iOS) is a legend. I'm hooked.

It's great, isn't it? I'm hoping that the next update will bring Poker mode to the iOS version. It's somehow even more addictive than Butterfly mode.

And speaking of PopCap, they need to hurry up with Solitaire Blitz iOS. It's been a few months since the announcement and I'm getting antsy. We still don't have a release date.

I've already purchased this game and it's a great ios game, perfect for on-the-go play.

Thanks but I wish they package the the single and multi into one game with one price.
Well, to be fair the single-player ZK (which was originally a DS game) was charged for and has been on the App Store for aaaages. I bought it and never regretted it for a second, then they released the VS one a month or two ago.

I don't think I'd have enjoyed Zookeeper Battle as much if I didn't play the DS game and DX on iOS to hell and back. This versus thing can be infuriating to newcomers. Still, they added a practice mode to Battle on version 1.0.1, so that does makes things better for anyone unfamiliar with the game.

Yes but they should release the two games in one package, a game of the year edition so-to-speak.
I would love to have the single and multiplayer in one package.

Match-3 games never clicked with me, unless there's some sort of metagame involved, like with Puzzle Craft. Playing match 3 games just for the sake of playing never did it for me.

Talking of Puzzle Craft, is there any way to determine where the carrots (and other items like that, that are created by a match of other items) will enter the play field? I've tried to manipulate it based on the start/end position of the match but it seems to be random. :(

It would be nice for if they released a new version with both modes but it would probably just be priced the same or a bit higher than DX is now, and what makes Battle so popular is the fact that it's free. As it is you can just buy DX and download Battle for free as an add-on, it's less convenient but it's the same result. I just have both apps next to each other in one of my games folders and treat them like one game with 2 modes, haha.

What I'd really like is for DX to have Tokoton and Quest modes, but that boat has sailed long ago. I guess it's understandable considering the price difference between the DS and iOS versions.

Yeah, it's a love it or don't care for it thing. I love matching things just because and getting higher scores just for the sake of it so they're great for me.

I'm pretty sure it's random. The only way to anticipate is to consider which columns will get replaced from your move.

Yes. Only collect things in the one column, then you will know which column they'll appear in ;)

Just fired up Dead Trigger after some time and my save was gone. Again. First time this happened (before the game went free) I wasn't far from the start so I just played from the start again.

Was about to delete it forever when I recalled they implement some pseudo-iCloud shenanigans, so I tried restoring it through the in-game restore/backup option and it worked! I never had to use any form of cloud saving on iOS before (edit: I think I did it with Tiny Tower back then if that counts, but that one used the GC login), but after reading all the stories about how broken it can be I was surprised I managed to get my save back.

Anyway, I'm also backing up the data to my computer right now. I usually only backup if I'm going to delete the app and I forgot to do it after the first save loss .

I have a very very noobish question! It's beeen a while since I last synced my devices.

I use two different accounts on my iOS devices (two different countries), so there are apps/games from both accounts installed. If I try to sync will iTunes do nasty stuff like deleting content that isn't from the account I'm logged?

Nope, as long as you have those apps in the iTunes library it won't delete anything (not even the .ipa is needed, just the app icon in the library). If they're not in your library, just right-click on the device on iTunes and select "Transfer Purchases from ___".

I have the same setup (national account + US account for freemyapps) and it works fine with iTunes.

No deletes up to now, though I haven't updated to latest iTunes yet, so I don't have experience with latest version.

I haven't had iTunes installed at all since I synced around the time of the iOS 5 update and it deleted half my apps with no discernable pattern behind which ones it kept.

It does look good, really enjoyed the trailers! Another thing to pick up on (if I can be picky) is that the second trailer says "In times of darkness" "there is no room for" "for kingdoms"... I know English isn't the primary language of the company, but that might want to be fixed up as well (if you guys think it's important enough).

But it does look good and am about to buy right now! I hope it does well :)

I've actually been interested in Bejeweled for awhile since I've really enjoyed every other PopCap game I've played. What's the difference between the freemium Blitz and Bejewled HD?

it's worth the price, IMO, despite not being universal. Wish they'd update the iPhone version to support i5 though.

I've been curious about this game as well. The conscensus in reviews is that it's very good but I don't see many specifics mentioned. I just finished Kingdom Rush and I'd like to do another TD game but KD was pretty damn good and I'm going to feel burned if I pay $8 for a game I don't like as much. Does it do anything new or is it just FR with better graphics?

Has anyone played "Royal Revolt!"? It's freemium (bleh) but to me it looks like you don't need to spend a dime, the graphics are awesome (great style and no jaggies on iPhone 5), I've had a lot of fun with it so far.

iphone 5 users, how is the gaming experience?

Like my 4S gets sweaty finger hot after playing a few min of 3d games like gameloft or unreal stuff.
I much prefer the aluminum to the glass back. The only problem I have, and I had this with the 4S, as well, is that I tend to place my hand over the speaker port accidentally.

i always hold my iphoine with the sound buttons facing down and the speaker facing right on the top. that way my right hand never overlaps onto the speaker.

Thanks for this, I've always wanted to play this so really impressed to see it's available for free!

Just a quick tip though - you really should update the actual app compatibility, it currently says on the sidebar it's compatible with the original iPad, old iPod touches and the iPhone 4 - really not cool for those people who buy the app only to find that it doesn't work.

ps, lol @ this review on the app store:

Someone who checks the compatibility of a game but doesn't read the description doesn't deserve to be on iOS? :D
This is a problem we cannot fix. Apple won't allow you to exclude certain devices. It has really hurt our sales, but it's out of our hands.

Same here, which is a problem if the game doesn't rotate (inexcusable). Same for when I'm wearing headphones, then I'll hold it in a way the jack stays on top, since with games where I have to use both hands it can get in the way.

Certain parties (*cough*SQUARE*cough*) get away with it by specifying bogus physical requirements like a front-facing camera or a rear camera flash, despite it being against Apple's TOS. Has anyone asked Apple why Square gets a free pass, and if they continue to get a free pass why can't everyone else do the same without penalty?

So far I've found the 5 to be much better at not getting burning hot than the 4 I used previously, despite being brighter, lighter, and faster.
