When's the QL for the new Art Academy? The last one was great
It would only be acceptable if Vinny was there and yet another portrait was included in the game.

It's not a trope. A lot of genres have seen such massive advancements that going back to play old games is heartbreaking.
If you're talking about PS1, Saturn, and N64, those systems were the Intellivision and 2600 of the modern polygonal era, when entirely new types of games were still covered in afterbirth and taking their first shaky steps in the world. Of course those initial versions look bad by today's standards.
The console generation prior to that featured the culmination of like 15 years of design work in 2D, so it's not surprising that more games from the SNES and Genesis are still hailed as classics and very playable today.
good stuff
Couldn't really get into the first one on PSN, but I'd play a Joe Danger complete collection on PC, kinda like what was announced for Trials.Joe Danger 2: The Movie (Jeff/Ryan) 21:50
I like how the top leader board has someone called the Ryker.
100% agreed. The Quick Look/Let's Play/Let's Look At/WTFis... format has replaced any need for video reviews. Shit is outdated.Quick Looks fix all the problems I have with video reviews. Mainly, they give me an actual impression on how a game plays. Video reviews are antiquated and should be retired on other sites. They take up a ton of resources for little actual payoff. I had to stop watching them completely because they are so video-intensive that they often contain late-game spoilers.

Super Mario Kart is pretty garbage. It has an amazing soundtrack, but the controls aren't so hot.Which genres? The progression of different design trends coming in to favor dosen't invalidate the old trends and the fun they can offer.
What genre's have made these massive advancements that makes the old games heartbreaking? FPS? Quake is still one of the best. Racing? Mario Kart on SNES the same. Fighting? Street Fighter 2 the same. RPG? Chrono Trigger still one of the best. I can think of countless examples for each genre.
I am horrified D=Super Mario Kart is pretty garbage. It has an amazing soundtrack, but the controls aren't so hot.
Oh, is it? That's cool. I quickly checked wikipedia and it didn't mention that.Joe Danger 2 is coming to PC. Jeff and Ryan didn't seem to know about that either.

Not to mention it sounds like Breaking Brad will be back next Friday, a fortnight after the last one, which is fantastic.
Wait, where'd you get that idea?
But when there's around eight staffers working 40 hour weeks, 14 hours of content (most of which is just sitting down and shooting the shit while recording a play session) doesn't seem like much work.
You've never worked in an office before, have you? It's six people by the way, and we all work way more than 40 hours a week.
I really need to stop being bothered by this sort of thing.
Um, Jeff said it? Didn't he? On the SimGolf thing? Super Mario Bros Lost Levels?
Obviously, you know better than me, so if I'm mistaken, sorry!
I wonder if Brad is always pissed on GAF, or his posts just convey that tone. If it seriously bothers you Brad, you shouldn't feel obligated to come to the board. Unless you drew some short straw involving community observation.
You forgot Alex.![]()
Yeah I dunno, I'd guess it was a joke. First I've heard of it! When was that in the stream?
09:07. It's more of a suggestion/contemplation from Jeff, but I personally think it'd be awesome.
Did he suggest a game? I've always thought Brad and Vinny playing thru REmake on the GameCube would be a great feature, particularly around Halloween.

Alex does a lot of important stuff, I just meant the guys who are in a position to do video content, which is what the gaping Internet maw seems to want more and more of.
Well, we're certainly interested in what you guys think and I'd personally like to have more of a dialogue about things, but it's rare to come here without seeing some kind of irrational outburst maligning our intelligence or work ethic or GAMER CRED, which I obviously don't respond to well. The only solution, as you say, is probably to visit the forum less. :\

I'd say you typically don't need to respond to something if you consider it to be irrational. Irrational comments are recognized by the majority of the posters in the thread and are normally called out. Focus on the rational feedback, positive and negative. If you read these threads from a less personal point of view, which I'm sure is tough to do, you'd probably see that the majority of the posts are positive and a good portion of the complaints are from people who just want to see more of what they enjoy about Giant Bomb.
The mistake I make is always assuming the intensely negative posts represent the majority opinion rather than being the outliers they most likely are, which probably says more about my neuroses than the level of discourse around here.
At least you're not doing it in the thread that's named after you. Now that really would be silly. The mistake I make is always assuming the intensely negative posts represent the majority opinion rather than being the outliers they most likely are, which probably says more about my neuroses than the level of discourse around here.
dont let it get to you man
and are you assigned to the DragonballZ and/or Harry Potter kinect games? lol
I think it's the double edged sword of the gonzo direction you guys have taken, your content is such a direct reflection of your staff, that people who consume it and effectively review that content, do so unabashed. The mistake I make is always assuming the intensely negative posts represent the majority opinion rather than being the outliers they most likely are, which probably says more about my neuroses than the level of discourse around here.

Sure, if you want to digest all of it. But when there's around eight staffers working 40 hour weeks, 14 hours of content (most of which is just sitting down and shooting the shit while recording a play session) doesn't seem like much work.
I like the team and what they do. I just think they could put out more and appeal to a wider audience by covering more diverse content.
Well, you do recognise it's a mistake yourself... so stop making that wrongful assumption? The mistake I make is always assuming the intensely negative posts represent the majority opinion rather than being the outliers they most likely are, which probably says more about my neuroses than the level of discourse around here.
Also very true. Sometimes it just comes with the territory.I think it's the double edged sword of the gonzo direction you guys have taken, your content is such a direct reflection of your staff, that people who consume it and effectively review that content, do so unabashed.
It would be like if every game you reviewed was Dyad/Everyday Shooter, etc, things that are a direction reflection of their creator. Trashing those products is almost certainly hurtful to those creators, unlike something like RE6, where hundreds of people are responsible for it.
When GAF shits on IGN, or Gamespot, or Eurogamer, etc, they shit on the whole broad company, when they shit on GB, it's on an individual.
Well, you do recognise it's a mistake yourself... so stop making that wrongful assumption?![]()
I feel the atmosphere in the GB threads is mostly positive, you choosing to reply almost exclusively to the negative is doing yourself a disservice - makes sense why visiting NeoGAF is not that much fun to you. Let the haters be and concentrate on the interesting points made about substantial topics (instead of personal critiques) and you'll probably have a much better time here. ^^
Also very true. Sometimes it just comes with the territory.
Still, engaging the haters exclusively is not the right answer. Goes for Brad, goes for devs posting on GAF, twitch streamers and their chats etc etc.

Just ignore the overly bitchy ones. If there's a legit complaint then sure answer but whinging and moaning over stuff like you guys not doing enough work is a waste of time for you. Most posters, including myself, love you guys. The other GB thread isn't #teambrad for nothing!
Yeah, fair enough. Browsing on GAF should never become something you don't enjoy. McMillen did the same thing when he deleted his twitter account.I was reminded by Indie Game The Movie (finally watched it last night) that Jon Blow had developed a reputation for doing exactly this back when Braid came out, which made me want to step back and check my own posting tendencies.
It's sadly the nature of the medium. I consider myself a Giant Bomb fan, but I hardly ever feel like leaving positive impressions. I've come to expect being entertained, and don't like coming across as boot licking, turning this into a 'no news is good news' sort of situation. However if something sit right with me on the other hand, I'll be more inclined to make myself heard. I can't imagine I'm alone in this sort of reasoning, which would skew the balance of the feedback in favour of the more negative stuff.
