Only downside to democracy. Stupid people have as much power as intelligent people.
You'll get emergency treatment when that heart attack hits, but you won't get preventive treatment to avoid the heart attack. Also, you will be in financial ruin. Which will indirectly lead to an early death.
Iam pretty sure that if Mitt wins there will be a new war, all the factors are on the dish : Russia ,Turkey, Syria, Israel.

New for elections : Take a simple IQ test before voting.
The outcry would be quite hilarious though.

I sure as hell am not voting for him, but we have people in this thread openly advocating for assaulting and causing physical harm to him. It's disgusting.I'm missing the part where I said that Romney's economic policy proposals a) made sense or b) existed in a consistent way the first place. If I'm getting pounced on *this much* for simply saying that some people may vote for Romney for reasons other than overt racism, even though I've explicitly stated that I strongly disagree with his platform, no wonder actual conservatives don't feel like posting much, lol.
Edit: I don't want to derail the conversation here with the fallout from what I thought was a simple tangent. Yes, the quote from the OP is ridiculous and he hasn't presented any healthcare policy alternatives that make any sense.

Pretty much. Only people voting for Romney are disgusting racists. He's white.
That's about it.

I know it is not possible, but I wish we could vote on policies and not party line agendas somehow.
Really?

Oh I agree with you. I'm just saying that it's clearly misleading to imply that 100% of people that vote Republican do so because they're afraid of a "gay muslim socialist that will take their guns" or whatever.
For what it's worth (anecdotal evidence incoming), I graduated with an economics degree recently after writing an honors thesis. I'd say that roughly half of the people in the honors thesis course were strongly conservative and it was for entirely economic reasons. Concerns about the deficit, tax structure, etc. Again, I don't agree with them, but they were basing their beliefs off of philosophical reasoning, their interpretation of the data, and so on.
Well if we can survive Bush for 8 years, we'll survive Romney....hopefully.
Healthcare is part of economic policy.
This was not the part I objected to. See my previous post.Yes, really. I question anyone that doesn't think this way about those two disgraces.
Romney is a man that will say anything to get what he wants. He's lied and flip flopped more than any single person I can recall ever knowing. I have no idea what his actual plans are. I have no idea what his beliefs are. I just know he wants to be president and that's about it. He's been pro life, pro choice and everything in between. His tax plan bears little resemblance to an actual plan at all. It seems that he jumped on healthcare in Massachusetts purely as a means to an end. He thought it'd be a good issue to get him into the white house, and as soon as that idea became toxic he abandons it and starts touting the emergency room. It seems he has an actual campaign strategy now of saying something moderate to one source, then having his campaign walk back on it and assure the right wing he'll really do the opposite. He's lied his ass off, in the debate and elsewhere, so many times I can't actually take any single thing he says as truth anymore. He has had everything in life practically handed to him compared to 99% of Americans and yet in his back rooms he can spout off bullshit about how he can't convince half of America to take personal responsibility for their own lives. He plays games with money for a living, socializing the risk and privatizing the profit, and yet he beliefs he's a harder worker than most of America. He fights to keep his preferential tax treatment and goes out of his way to not be taxed on the huge piles of money gained from, again, playing games with money and putting people out of work. He's a slimebag, and a real snake oil salesman.
And Paul Ryan is an immature delusional petulant child who thinks he's living in the fantasy world of an Ayn Rand novel. He used his fathers Social Security money to get his education and now thinks himself part of the class of "Makers" while he rails against people who have far less than him as "takers." He doesn't care about his fellow American in need. His plans are complete social darwinism, and he's a complete and utter fraud as a "numbers guy."
Why would anyone want to vote for this man? Seriously.
So you want a direct democracy? Terrible idea. See California for what happens when you defer tons of budgetary issues, especially tax policies, to the masses. Never mind everything else

I got a cat scan and some other scan when I didn't have insurance. It cost mine thousand fucking dollars.
It's not a matter of not getting treatment, it's a matter of not being able to pay after the fact.
which is why he later goes on to say we need to make sure everyone has the opportunity for insurance.
vitriol out in full force today i see.

I got an ultrasound earlier this year because I felt a lump on my testicles and wanted to make sure it wasn't cancer. It cost nearly $600 for me with insurance.
(It seems to be some kind of a fluid buildup/cyst)

What's his plan for this?
Doesn't obamacare already try to make it so everyone has the opportunity as well?
I just want to hear his damn plan in detail and not ramblings on how he thinks the ER treats all illness somehow.
Having known people who have died because they didn't have access to healthcare

Step 1: Repeal Obamacare
Step 2: ...
Step 3: Maybe some states will make their own mandated insurance laws!
Guys, listen.
I understand it's cool to hate on Romney. And honestly, he sorta makes it easy from time to time.
But this is what you need to understand.
OBAMA AND ROMNEY ARE THE SAME. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH ONE YOU VOTE FOR, YOU'RE STILL FUCKED.
If you vote for Obama, the republicans will get enough folks into the House and Senate to pretty much make any significant change that would be for the people and not corporate lobbyists be voided. Same for Romney.
Romney has HUGE funding from oil and medical companies. His hands would be well greased if he was elected president. You don't pass laws against those who help you get into power.
Obama's financial advisors are former CEOS of the banking companies that were DIRECTLY responsible for the housing crisis and bank bailouts. WTF?
Both of them cater to the rich. Romney's simply a bit more transparent about it.
It really does come down to which is the lesser of the two evils. Do you really think that Obama is any less worse than Romney?
