You can tweak FoV beyond the settings screen limit? Cool.

Though it worked pretty well for me last night even with the maximum allowed range. Console games have spoiled me.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+ 2.61 GHz
2 GB RAM
Geforce GTX 560

Runs fine with some lags here and there (mostly when im in an new area) 60 FPS all the time. Feels goodman.

That FOV tweak seems to break the spyglass. Not really a huge deal but just a word of warning if you're going to use that tweak.

It doesn't totally break. It's just unresponsive at times. A quick re-load usually makes it work again.

Speaking of re-loads. Every time I reload the game reverts to 85 fov. So I'm constantly pressing F4.

according to the end game credits the game uses nvidia physx to a degree
Its a UE3 game, so thats pretty much a given.

PhysX SDK and APEX are fully integrated into the UE3 engine at this point, they have to put the credit there.
PhysX SDK is pretty much the sole physics engine for UE3 these days....when was the last time you saw the Havok logo?
Better question when was the last time you saw the Havok logo or credit for a UE3 games.....Epic pretty much abandoned Havok in favor of PhysX and i commend them for it, all the "practice" devs are getting with APEX now, means next gen cloth simulations and destruction will be legendary

Hoping the game gets an EMB mod. The base colors are too muted for my tastes. I don't want them to go completely wild, but a little punch would do wonders.

Download SweetFX.
It has tone mapping, bloom and vibrance setting....what more would you want from ENB for this game?

P.S Unless im mistaken no UE3 game has an official ENB mod right?
I was gonna say just copy and paste that ENB into the Dishonored folder.
But honestly UE3 is such a powerful engine i would be shocked if there was anything ENB could do this engine already couldnt.

Weird, for me I would get the scope view but it wouldn't actually zoom in.

Here's a couple of snaps I took while comparing a couple of AA methods.

Downsampled from 2880x1620 to 1080p with ultra SMAA:

4xSGSSAA at 1080p with negative LOD at -1.000:

I definitely prefer downsampling. Cleans everything right up.

So I'm pretty impressed with my HD 7950 so far, but I was disheartened to discover that SGSSAA is an Nvidia-only deal.

What the conventional wisdom on what to do with an ATI card for this game? All I've tried so far was crazy-ass 4x SSAA from the catalyst control center. IQ was outstanding and performance (playable, just not consistently close to 60) surprised me considering the hit trying SS usually costs me. Still, I'm sure thar be more efficient settings.

I am using SweetFX (which also adds SMAA) for some vibrance and saturation. I actually think my current settings are a little too extreme and I'll dial it back a tad, but it's certainly striking. With SweetFX and some solid AA the game is truly gorgeous; once I settle on the right config for my new card I'll be back with some shots.

Even with just the SMAA and no additional AA applied it looks pretty damn good (sorry that the images themselves are downsampled, I didn't take them for performance demo purposes; I'll be back with full-res ones):

I'll ask this hear as well since obviously people in the PC performance thread bought the PC version, and maybe some of you bought the physical copy. Was there a Steam activation key with the physical copy of the game?

edit: Got the answer - yes.

Those two fullres images above look nearly identical o.O

Surely there must be an ATI tweaker in here with some suggestions?

Was I a fool to abandon my stalwart NVIDIA after all?

I don't play games on PC but I just got a laptop with i7,8 GB ram, and 660M. What kind of FPS I will get with everything on max? Or I should just buy it on ps3t?

Please do not get it on PS3. You will smoke the game and get very close to 60fps if not locked.

It's UE3 (as are a number of excellent games on PC you might or might not have already played). Your laptop will serve you well.

Forcing AA through Nvidia Inspector gives me an outline above the black bars in the menu/cutscenes.

It looks nicer but that crap is annoying.

I think they are part of the game. I had the black bars before I even downloaded the inspector.

This solution kinda sucks because it disables spyglass zoom.

Any way to get the spyglass working again?

i7 920 @ 3.36ghz
12 GB
GTX 480
Creative X-Fi
Win 7 64

Everything maxed / enabled , MLAA , 1920x1080.

So far solid 60fps!

yeah, never put 2 and 2 together

Yeah I play at 2560x1440 with 4x SGSSAA, absolutely perfect IQ, just like Dennis's shots. Something's wrong on your end.

Maybe 4x SGSSAA is clearer, as i said before it seemed to me, but dont have comparison shots.
Its not only my problem, because You can see same situation on two other users shots comparison that downsampling gave them sharper look than 2xSGSSAA

ah shit, I forgot

thanks. Also another issue wich im not sure if its happening to everyone or not:

when the game goes letterbox during "cutscenes", its like the black bars are too small for the screen, as in, I can still see a bit of environment on top and bottom of the whole thing

as seen here:

Did you ever get this fixed? I've got it too. Just a white dynamically changing line during gameplay. If I go into the menu it goes, but I returns when looking in certain directions I think. I also get it during cutscenes, but that's not as bad since I can just turn the hud off then. :/

nope, played through with it. Minor annoyance but yeah it does get in the way. Cutscenes kinda lost something with the distraction but oh well

I've found a way to somewhat lessen its annoyance.

I've noticed it only happens when certain visual effects come into play, such as being hit (screen flashes red) and other similar interface type stuff. To get rid of it for a little bit, press escape and wait until the menu stops animating (which only takes a second or so) the return to game and it'll be gone. If there are any remnants of it, just go to somewhere darker and repeat the above with with the left side of the screen IN the darkness. The rest of the screen doesn't have to even be in the darkness, just the left side.

That is the only "solution" that really works effectively.

Some of these settings don't exist in dishonored, but they're pretty good for these kinds of games.

Makes sure you're using the max quality for items and makes sure certain eyecandy is on if the game supports it (but doesn't have it in the options)

Beyond the Shadow stuff.
All of those dont work or are already on in Dishonored by default on max settings.

Wanted to share this rather nice shot I took tonight, again, using the Nvidia Inspector settings in this thread. (SGSSAA x4)

GAF, I know how much you like fabrics.

Dennis, your screenshots seem to have the same washed-out look that I see in my game. Other people are posting pics with nice blacks (like the one in the post just before yours).
It seems to me that setting the HDMI level to normal (as opposed to extended) in my display's settings corrects this problem. Could it be that this game is reporting wrong levels to the display? Has anybody else experienced this?

Hi guys, my PC is starting to show it's age a bit and I wondered if any of you kind folks could point me in the direction of the best upgrade?

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200
4GB (2x2GB) CorsairTwinX DDR3
Mobo: Asus P5Q3, iP45, S 775, PCI-E 2.0
Graphics: 512MB HiS (HighTech) HD 4770

I'm thinking a RAM upgrade or a new graphics card (though I'm worried about the PCI-E 2 thing being an issue there, I'm a bit out of touch with that)

But if anyone's interested, this setup runs the game pretty nicely at medium-high settings at 720p, even if there is the odd bit of slowdown (usually when loading a new area).

i5 3570k @ 3.4ghz
AMD HD7850
8gb Memory

~120-130fps fairly solid. I feel like I could be pushing it further but the ingame settings leave something to be desired.

I have to say that playing this with 2xSGSSAA at 1920x1080 with 120 triple buffered fps and a FOV of 100 has made this into one of the most immersive games I've played in a long time. I've found my "perfect" HUD settings as well, with a lot of stuff turned off, including the crosshair and any "go here!"-markers. Amazing, amazing game. Played for 10 hours and only just finished mission 3. Taking my time with this one.
